Rescue Me ID: 17-06-28-00215Beau (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There are many, many Schnauzer lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be one of the most desirable of breeds. This is due to their consistently engaging temperaments, non-shedding coats and overall intelligence. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their silver scruffy coats and their soft, expressive eyes. Beau is an extremely cute Schnauzer/Terrier mix (although it's difficult to tell in this photo). Beau is in desperate need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing as can be seen in his photo. He suffers from dermatitis (like so many rescue dogs). This is a temporary itchy skin challenge caused by ... (Read More)stress, fleas and dirty conditions. With great nutrition and a kind and loving home...Beau will emerge with a beautiful and cottony-soft coat that speaks of his breed mix. As a non-shedding guy, Beau will also require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, super-soft and matt-free. Beau is 6 - 6.5 years old and 16 lbs... such a perfect age and size. He is old enough to have left his babyish behaviors behind and young enough to have many active (Beau will love hiking!) as well as mellow years ahead loving his family. Beau is the greatest size to be able to accompany his people everywhere a small..and SO sweet guy is welcome. We feel that Beau's forever family should have the motivation to continue his socialization and offer him the gift of positive reinforcement group obedience training classes. Through these clear boundaries and leadership by his humans, Beau will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so beautiful both inside and out and deserves a family that appreciates his gifts and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We are searching for an active and very loving family for Beau...either retirees or families with older, gentle and dog-loving kids. Another mellow but fun doggie playmate and a fenced yard would be great for Beau. He (like all dogs) is happier and therefore more well-behaved if he's given enough exercise and fun... followed by snuggling with his favorite people (he's a great lap dog!). It would be a family who spend lots of time at home (or chooses to take a sweet dog with them to dog-friendly situations) that would provide a great forever home for Beau. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. Beau will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/30/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and devoted best friend (and amazing lap dog) and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-26-00074Logan (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Logan, at just 16 weeks old and 22 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 45 - 50 lbs) was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this beautiful puppy with a great temperament..they rescued Logan just in time. Logan is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a ... (Read More)transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous golden coat that will become thick and lustrous with time. Logan (like many, many rescue puppies) has dermatitis. This is a skin condition caused by stress, fleas and unclean conditions. If untreated, it results in hair loss and sores on the skin. The positive is that this condition is not contagious and is very treatable....with the use of an antibiotic, medicated baths (both provided by Farfel's), great nutrition and an environment with love and nurturing...these dogs quickly heal and grow back their full coats of gorgeous hair. Logan is currently in a Texas foster home and is successfully being treated for his dermatitis. We'll update just as soon as we receive photos. Logan is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart and engaging...very typical of a Golden/Lab mix. Logan is also over the top sweet and so loving...a perfect candidate to be a best friend to kids as well as their parents. Since Logan is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Logan will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with great behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force free) trainers in your area. We're open to Logan finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Logan loves children as well...we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in play and fun with kindness (we wouldn't want tail pulling for Logan). Kids can be an integral part of a training regimen that's so important to a puppy's future behavior and his ability to accompany his family everywhere a well-behaved dog is welcome. Logan will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. We've requested that Logan be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Logan's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Logan will be transported to Boulder on Friday 6/30/17. If interested in this loving and devoted best friend please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-25-00088Eden (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Poodle or Poodle mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are loving, extremely smart and make excellent and devoted family members. They fit so well into a household and make great companions for all age groups. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Eden is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a ... (Read More)best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. Eden is such a great age and size... at 12 - 18 months old (such a perfect age - young enough to be a blank slate, open to all the new and wonderful possibilities in her life.. yet old enough to have left her babyish behaviors behind) and weighs 13 lbs..the perfect size to accompany her family anywhere a sweet and well-behaved pup is welco me). Eden is lucky enough to have inherited the superior intelligence of the Poodle breed along with the curiosity and engaging personality of the fun-loving Maltese. She is so excited and attentive when her people teach her the wonders of her world. If Eden is trained with a positive reinforcement trainer (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area) and given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs, she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful companion. Eden has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a puppyish desire to please. We'd like to place Eden in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Eden would also enjoy the company of a fun and respectful canine...she would love the playtime and companionship. Eden will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside of this very cute and loving Poodle mix. Eden will love the trails and neighborhood paths of Colorado. She's the perfect size to enjoy walks and socializing...window-shopping would also be great to fine-tune her urban skills and provide the socialization that is so important in the development of a dog's abilities. With feelings of security within the family, Eden will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will aways return. Eden has a gorgeous, cottony-soft, non-shedding coat. Many feel that the Poodle/Maltese is one of the most hypoallergenic mixes available today. Eden will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her gorgeous coat shining, very healthy and matt-free. Eden will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday 6/30/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When Shiloh's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Shiloh tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Poodle/Schnauzer is..and the need to save his life. (Schnoodles are one of the most popular designer dog mixes bred today due to intelligence, temperament and a hypoallergenic, non-shedding coat). We immediately agreed and Shiloh became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every ... (Read More)possibility for a great future. At just 12 - 18 months old and 16 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Shiloh to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. We feel very strongly that every dog deserves the gift of training. Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Shiloh and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success. Farfel's is happy to supply a list of positive reinforcement (force free) trainers in your area. Shiloh gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while shy at first until acclimated) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he appears to be a Poodle with a touch of Schnauzer in his makeup.. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy Poodly guy that's irresistible! When Shiloh turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Shiloh's style once he's comfortable in his environment. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for either retirees or a younger family with older, dog-crazy kids for Shiloh's forever home. Retirees would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that they often put into their pets. Shiloh, once bonded, will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Shiloh would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 16 lbs, even a very well-adjusted puppy can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs . It is Shiloh's love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put him through Heartworm treatments..his precious life deserves to be saved! Shiloh has tested low HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Shiloh as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills (if our Denver vet is used) and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as he becomes healthily heartworm-free. Shiloh will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/30/17. Applications are being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly..so warm by your side. Puppies are so pure and vulnerable that you just want to let them know that they're alright and safe in your love. Cooper, at just about 4 - 5 months old and 18 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 30 - 35 lbs - a perfect size for hiking as well as couch cuddle time), is being returned to Farfel's Rescue through no fault of his own. Cooper is being rehomed by his current family...however, they are the first to say..He's a perfect dog!.. (confused..we are too!) Cooper is a best friend to the family's young children and is a great ... (Read More)choice to join another family with dog-crazy kids who want to incorporate a puppy into their lives that loves everyone and can be a full-time and loyal best friend. This sweet and engaging Australian Cattle Dog mix is starting out with great energy and amazing behavior! Cooper's current family was loving enough to give him two gifts...children who adore him more than anything and obedience training class (where he absolutely shines!) His new family will be getting a gift with this well-trained and very loving puppy...he absolutely loves (and has had a great experience) with young kids. And Cooper loves to show off his obedience skills...he could easily go on and be very successful in higher level obedience classes. Cooper is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. We can't imagine a greater gift for a child (or anyone) who's wishing for a new love in their life. Cooper is so smart and very engaging...so typical of his breed mix as well as indicative of the love he's received from the people he's been with. Cooper has all the potential in the world to continue to be the most awesome companion! He will form firm bonds with his new family (as well as other dogs and humans). We'd like Cooper to continue his obedience education...his potential knows no bounds. He could go on to become a companion or therapy dog that is welcome everywhere his person is. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that is the center of your universe - and that you can count on for great and engaging behavior out in the world. We're open to Cooper finding his forever home with very active retirees or a younger individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Cooper would be a gift to any family that will love him and desire his companionship as a full-time (and so sweet and well-behaved) fuzzy family member. Cooper is up to date on his vetting and has been neutered and microchipped. He's also a house trained guy who is very respectful of his home and environment. He's just a doll! He'll bring joy to a dog-loving family that is pure love. Cooper is currently being fostered in the Denver area. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-24-00084Ruby (female)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all agreed that Ruby, a truly beautiful 18 - 24 month old, 12 lb Schnauzer/Yorkie mix should be a candidate for a ticket on transport to her forever home in Colorado. Ruby passed her temperament testing with flying colors but was facing euthanasia in a high-kill Texas shelter due to lack of space. Immediate action was necessary...and Farfel's was thrilled to step up to save Ruby's life. Ruby, while being just a small pup, loves the outdoors and would be so excited to accompany her favorite people on neighborhood walks..or even a beautiful hike would be a joy for Ruby. She is so excited when it's time to go on an adventure...we picture ... (Read More)her being overjoyed to accompany her family just about anywhere a small..and very sweet dog is welcome. Once Ruby is comfortable in her surroundings, she's a very friendly and engaging girl. She's always so happy to socialize with dog-loving people and their friendly pups on her outings around the neighborhood with her rescuer. Or you can find her lying quietly snuggled close to her favorite humans with the most contented look on her sweet face. Ruby thoroughly enjoys her favorite people and lets them know that they are wonderful and so special to her. She engages with her humans in such a positive way... and there's no question that kindness and attention can get her tail wagging with excitement. At the end of the day...it's all about a warm lap and lots of cuddling and love for Ruby. She is a world class lap dog but would always be happy to share a lap..and a belly rub..with another gentle dog. Ruby tries so hard to be a well-behaved and respectful girl...it's wonderful how low-maintenance she is. All she asks for is love, kindness..and treats are always gratefully accepted. We feel that Ruby would be a great addition to any household that desires a small lap dog to spend lots of time with. She is a take-along kind of girl...and would be perfect for retirees who are searching for a fuzzy best friend. Ruby would also be just right for a younger family with older dog-loving kids. We feel that Ruby is too sensitive to be left for long hours while her people work outside the home. But she would be a great companion for a family that uses their home as their office. She would be the perfect foot warmer and be thrilled with the companionship of her family. Ruby thinks that hugs and kisses are the greatest things ever...even better than a great treat. She's also learning that the car leads to great adventures and would always be game for riding shotgun or can even fit perfectly under the seat in a plane to accompany her family everywhere a small, very sweet dog is welcome. Ruby is a non-shedding girl with a coat that will become gorgeous and cottony-soft as it grows in. Ruby is being treated for dermatitis. This is a condition that is very common in shelter dogs and comes from stress, fleas and unclean conditions..and result in hair loss and itchy skin. Ruby is currently being treated for derm with oral medication and medicated baths. She's making great progress... and with continued coat care and great nutrition (and a salmon oil supplement would be perfect) she'll be the most gorgeous girl around. Ruby will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/30/17. Pomeranian Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Pomeranian/King Charles Cavalier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart, adorable and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their intelligence, devoted temperaments and extremely loving ways. Both are also known to be trustworthy and generally very kind and playful with humans and other dogs. Henry is just a puppy and is learning about the ways of the world. He loves his neighborhood walks with his rescuer (and when this 5 lb guy is tired, up he goes into a backpack to see the world from above). Henry is learning proper socialization skills...he's a very engaging and ... (Read More)cuddly guy who draws a ton of loving attention..and he eats it up! Any time a fun adventure is the order of the day - count Henry in! He's just a young guy who can't wait to engage joyfully and energetically.. and then crash on the couch snuggling close to favorite humans and canines. Henry is as cute as can be.. and a very sweet guy who favors the look and loyalty of the Pomeranian while taking on the very intelligent and engaging qualities..as well as the body structure of the Cavalier. Henry will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement for Henry) to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Henry's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Henry is friendly (while perhaps initially shy) and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Henry's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Henry goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Henry is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. At 4 - 5 months old and 5 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 8 lbs when full-grown), Henry seems to be leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Henry in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he'd love to be involved and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Henry would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. Henry would be overjoyed to accompany his favorite people to the park, on neighborhood trails and even just riding shotgun running errands. Henry doesn't require another dog to be happy.(as long as he gets both physical exercise and mental stimulation from his people). He does, however, enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Henry is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however a puppy like Henry is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Henry to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. He does, however, enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. As per Rio's rescuers: Rio will require a family that's open to periodic grooming. His golden coat will require baths/brushing to keep it cottony-soft and matt-free. Great nutrition is also necessary for general health... and a gorgeous coat. Salmon oil would be a great supplement for Rio to keep his hair healthy and very shiny. Rio is great with other dogs, doesn't seem to mind cats and is great with kids (truly loves all humans!). He walks pretty well on leash as well as off. Rio is very ready for a great home and will bring so much love and kindness to his family. He's definitely a gem! Rio will arrive on transport in Boulder on Saturday 6/24/17.     If you're searching for a very devoted and loving best friend....Meadow is the pup you want to have around! Meadow, at just about 9 - 12 months old and 12 or so lbs is the perfect size to take just about anywhere. She's portable enough to accompany her people anywhere a sweet dog is welcome and large enough to love taking a long walk with her family. Meadow can initially be a bit hesitant...but give her a bit and she becomes the most bonded and loving girl around. Meadow is also very beautiful. This sad photo in no way does this gorgeous girl justice..with her adorable scruffy Terrier coat and beautiful dark eyes with so much wisdom. ... (Read More)Meadow enjoys her time with her rescuer so much that she joins her just about everywhere...a true best friend! She loves being out and about and enjoys all people..her back end wiggles in delight as she greets old and new friends. Meadow is truly a little lap-dog extraordinaire and derives so much joy from her time spent with her family...she's a very devoted family girl. Meadow also enjoys other dogs who are kind and gentle to play with..it's so much fun for her to interact and enjoy fun times together. This adorable (and often silly and funny) pup exudes love and loyalty...and it's catching! Meadow's tough early life has taught her how special it is to be loved and she's grateful for all the kindness that comes her way. She continues to learn and blossom every day now that she's out of her challenging circumstances.. and responds to people as well as other dogs in a very positive and engaging way. Meadow's bond to humans and her smaller and very desirable size leads us to believe that she would be happy in either an active retiree's home...she would blossom with the time, attention and lap time that this type of family would offer. Or a family with dog-loving, gentle children would also be great...Meadow loves kind kids and is playful and fun once comfortable. If there is some backyard play going on, Meadow is the first to join in and can be counted on to be sweet and appropriate! Meadow is so portable at about 12 lbs that she is able to accompany her family just about anywhere...be it under the seat on a plane (cabin only please) or riding shotgun in the car, Meadow is always ready and willing. She is a welcome guest in every situation...when comfortable, her joy starts with her wagging tail and works its way to the smile on her very cute face. Watch out - before you know it, she's crept into your lap and snuggled up to spend time together. Say the word walk to Meadow ...or simply play together and she's all over it. Off Meadow will go in anticipation of an adventure! She has an amazing attitude for a little dog from a scary situation.. and it was this great temperament that saved this sweet girl's life! Meadow will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. Farfel's has requested that Meadow be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for her spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Hunter's euthanasia time in a dismal New Mexico shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate NM rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Hunter was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer, shelter workers and Hunter's foster haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Hunter, at 4 months old ... (Read More)and 17 lbs (estimated to be approximately 35 lbs when full grown) is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. He is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born hiker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Hunter with a family with respectful, dog-crazy kids or active retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical fuzzy guy. Hunter would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with gentle canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Hunter than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Hunter can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance guy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. Hunter would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since his desire to please is so strong...and it would create that special bond that exists between a trained, respectful dog and his people. After passing his temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Hunter is with his rescuer in New Mexico being taught some basic house skills. His rescuer has described him as a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They did say that Hunter may need a bit of time after his very long transport to Colorado to be his happy and very loving self. Hunter is in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushingČ'Ř|. he will emerge with an amazing coat that will highlight the gorgeous markings that speak of his breed. Hunter will require a periodic bath and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy and cottony-soft. Hunter is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however a puppy like Hunter is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Hunter to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Hunter will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 6/24/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-20-00045Violet (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Violet is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag. Once she gets a sudsy bath and grooming, she'll absolutely be one of the cutest girls around. At 9 - 12 months old and 9 lbs, Violet is every bit the puppy-like kind of girl...fun and active....but at the same time she is a well-behaved pup who loves being a lap dog and (once comfortable) is very engaging and loyal. So sweet and cuddly (and initially a bit shy), Violet was facing the end of her life just as it was beginning. ...and was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier mix is an up and ... (Read More)coming breed mix that's loved for it's cuteness, cuddly size, amazing intelligence and very engaging personalities. Violet is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. At this early point in Violet's development, she's open and excited about all possibilities. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Vi to a family who expresses their devotion for her in many different ways. We'd like this little dog to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes to teach her the skills to be the very best adult dog she's capable of being. Right now, Violet is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved dog around. Violet loves to be loved and will return this devotion a thousand times over. We'd like Violet to be part of a family with very gentle, dog-loving children or with active retirees who will include her in their activities. Violet is so portable that she can easily be a constant companion - she would love nothing more than walks with socializing, trips to the store (she's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Violet is young and flexible enough that she can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...she can succeed. Violet is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's bright and so loving (loves to cuddle in your lap or spend the night snuggling close in bed) clearly has no memory of her scary early life. Since Violet is such a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. Violet will form firm bonds with her family and learn positive socialization skills through exposure to many different situations out in the world. These include puppy kindergarten and positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area). It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the outside world with appropriate behavior. We've requested that Violet be fixed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of Texas. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Violet's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Violet is a non-shedding or lightly shedding girl...it's still a bit difficult to tell until until her sad shelter coat grows out. She will require a commitment to periodic baths, brushing and great nutrition to keep her hair shining, very healthy and matt-free. Violet will be arriving on transport on Saturday 6/24/17 . If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining/silly best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.     When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Asia. Her smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Asia's rescuer knows it's morning when her little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a kiss and a hug. This curious and really, really smart 12 - 15 month old, 10 - 12 lb Dachshund/Rat Terrier mix is such a great size..perfect for nighttime snuggles and lap time. (Read More)aren't lots of visible signs that she was in a very scary situation. She's sometimes shy and can hold back..but a warm hug and reassuring words..and Asia bounces back and cuddles just a bit closer. We picture Asia as the best friend to active retirees. She'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share her love and good will. There's also no question that Asia would be the most popular girl on the block. Once comfortable, she loves to engage and just be her entertaining, adorable self. Even though Asia is usually up for pretty much any activity, she's not pushy or yappy. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks to socialize with neighbors..and mental stimulation that comes from time spent with her humans will keep Asia happy and fulfilled. Asia would also enjoy time with gentle, dog-loving kids. She's an easy-going pup..but we wouldn't want her tail being pulled or anything but the gentlest of handling. Asia derives so much joy from her relationships, we would love to see her in an active family that just loves her dearly...she's a great dog that deserves this in her life. The Doxy/Terrier mix is reliably such a great family dog! They tend to be incredibly cute...with the softest hair ever, very smart and the most devoted of companions. If you combine that with the energy and cuddliness of the Terrier combined with the inquisitive, very funny/silly nature of Dachshunds... you end up with a humorous and loyal family member...in other word, a dog just like Asia! Asia won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Asia's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Asia will be arriving on transport on Saturday 6/24/17. Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside & out) Schnauzer/Terrier mix (a popular new breed mix loved for their sweetness, intelligence and non/low shedding coat) in a high-kill shelter in Kansas. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Carly's life and nursed her body and spirit back to joy and well-being. It's now getting to the time when Carly is ready to be transported to her new life in Colorado. The following is a description of Carly by her rescuer mom who loves her so much: --Carly is such a sweet pup just ... (Read More)waiting to blossom. I've enjoyed watching her learn that the world can be a loving and positive place. Carly had a hard start - but now she's learning about treats, belly rubs and that she's a very valuable girl! She may very well be initially shy, but just give her a bit of time and you'll have a new best friend. Carly loves the sunshine and playing outside...she has exactly the appropriate amount of energy for a 4 - 5 month old, 12 lb healthy pup. She would do great with a family who is home a lot to take walks, cuddle with and play together at the park or in the yard - she would love that! After she's had exercise and stimulation, she's ready to chill on the couch..or better yet in your lap. Carly loves to snuggle, be petted and has been said to not get overly grumpy about very much of anything. Her potentially gorgeous, jet-black hair appears to be non-shedding and will require care...a periodic grooming and great nutrition would be perfect to keep her coat as beautiful and healthy as it can be. Carly loves other dogs and enjoys playing...and then hanging out in the sunshine. She does appreciates those that are gentle and respectful of her smaller size. Carly has been great with my 14 and 18 year old daughters and me! My kids have taken Carly on a hike with friends (she's great on a leash for such a young girl)...she loved it and will be a great hiking partner. I haven't seen her around smaller kids, so that's an unknown. She's excellent with my mom, but might be a bit puppyish for a very advanced senior. Carly is a truly smart, very loving...and often very comical pup - true to her breeds!! What a gem of a best friend for a family with kids or retirees who want to include a very cute and fun dog in their lives. Carly has the potential to be a very loyal companion.     Whenever a sweet Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed are generally very loving and intelligent. They also fit well into a family.. making great companions and the ultimate lap dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine. Ellie is just about 18 months old (such a great age - young enough to be a blank slate soaking up new skills while being mature enough to have left her puppyish ways behind). Ellie weighs 8 lbs..a perfect size for walks and backyard fun... and ... (Read More)then Ellie will gently warm your lap and express her love with her loyalty and sweetness. Ellie's great New Mexico rescuer sent the following report about sweet Ellie: I was the lucky one that rescued Ellie and loved her up prior to her journey to Colorado. Let me start off by saying she is a doll! She is such a loving and sweet cuddle bug! Ellie was gentle and sweet with my 2 kids..12 and 14. I have 3 personal small dogs and Ellie did great with them as well. She loves to either curl up on our laps or cuddle on the couch after an active day. She slept in our bed and had no issues at all. She actually slept like a log all night!. I will cry like a baby when I drop her off for transport to Colorado but know that she will be in good hands with Farfel's! Ellie has inherited the superior intelligence of the Cairn Terrier along with the cuddly sweetness of the Maltese. If Ellie is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful companion. She has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. We'd like to place Ellie in a home with either active retirees or a younger family with dog-crazy older kids who love spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Ellie will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside this incredibly cute and scruffy Terrier mix. Ellie would love walks, window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Ellie will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will aways return. We've requested that Ellie be fixed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. After one look at the sad eyes staring out of the shelter photo and reading the reports of Daisy's sweetness that speaks of a desire to trust and bond...we accepted her immediately into Farfel's Rescue. Once she becomes comfortable in her surroundings, Daisy is a friend that will make you laugh at her silly puppy antics and want to hold her tight just because she's so incredibly cute! We would love to see Daisy in a forever home where she becomes a true member of the family. Active retirees, individuals who work out of the home or families with respectful children would be perfect for this sweet young girl. Daisy also appears to have a calm side that loves nothing more than to settle into her person's lap (or lying close on the couch) and stay put with an occasional lick and a smile of delight at her good fortune. Daisy will be up to date on her vaccinations as well as spayed/microchipped when she arrives in Boulder. From all the changes in Daisy's life as well as time spent in a high-kill shelter, she has developed flea dermatitis (or an allergy to fleas)..as can be seen in her shelter photo. This is very easily dealt with when there is less stress, clean conditions and the absence of fleas..as is the case in her Texas foster home. Prior to Daisy's transport to Colorado, her foster family will be giving her medicated baths, premium nutrition and prescribed medication to help with the healing of her skin and new hair growth. If you are interested in providing a wonderful home for this very sweet, smart, loving and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Manchester Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When Rex's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the beautiful (and extremely dirty) Rex tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this young Manchester Terrier is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Rex became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. At just about 1 year old and just 11 lbs, this very beautiful and sweet guy is just waiting waiting for positive input and guidance ... (Read More)to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Rex to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Rex gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching... He's just an adorable and fun little boy who is simply irresistible! When Rex turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Rex's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family for Rex. It''s not that he doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Rex is more comfortable around adult energy. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Rex, once bonded, will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Rex enjoys time with dogs who are gentle, but doesn't really care about interacting. He's a very calm guy who prefers to spend his time getting belly rubs and enjoying his family. Rex will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday, 6/2/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and family-oriented guy, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.     ADORABLE LAB PUPPY ALERT!!! Jax is an adorable 12 week old, 12 pound Labrador / Boxer mix, in search of his forever home in Colorado. When our rescuers in Houston saw this sweet boy brought to their shelter as a stray street pup, they immediately contacted us because they were certain this baby deserved a life of love in Colorado. We agreed, and stepped in to save him from his pending euthanasia. Jax is the type of mix that will be a true people dog. He enjoys humans of every age group ...so we are searching for an active family to adopt him. We also envision Jax with a very active retired couple or individual who want a kind and adorable ... (Read More)guy in their lives. He would be overjoyed with time spent...hiking, exploring and then flopping down on the couch together at day's end. Jax would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people. He could be a perfect office dog in a dog-friendly workplace after an opportunity to attend group obedience classes and puppy play groups. Farfel's is very happy to provide names of approved positive reinforcement trainers in your area. These classes teach both the dog and family how to use new behavioral skills..and therefore develop a strong bond and great behavior out in the world. Jax can initially have moments of shyness from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great pup past any insecure feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned. Jax will be neutered and up to date on his vaccinations prior to his transport to Denver, although due to his age, he will still need his next booster shots. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Jax's microchip and next booster shots if our Denver vet is used. Jax will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday, 5/27/17. If interested in this sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)
