Rescue Me ID: 16-12-09-00087Merlin (male)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Merlin's euthanasia time in a dismal Kansas shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate Kansas rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer and shelter workers haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Merlin, at approximately 2.5 - 3 years old and ... (Read More)15 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. He is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born walker or hiker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Merlin with an active family with dog-loving, respectful kids or retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical fuzzy guy He would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with gentle canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Merlin than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Merlin can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance guy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. Merlin would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since his desire to please is so strong...and it would create that special bond that exists between a trained, respectful dog and his people. After passing his temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Merlin is being reminded of his basic house skills. His rescuer has described him as a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They did say that Merlin may need a day or so after his long transport to Boulder to be his happy and very loving self again. Merlin is in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushingČ'Ř|. he will emerge with an amazing tricolor coat that over time will speak of cottony softness and good health. Merlin will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy, shining and matt-free. While we've requested that Merlin be neutered prior to his transport, we're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't..Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Merlin's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Merlin will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 12/13/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-07-00018Snow (female)

Bichon Frise Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Snow is the pup you want to have around! Snow, at just about 8 years old (such a great age..old enough to have left babyish ways behind and young enough to have many, many active years ahead) and 11 lbs, is initially a bit hesitant...then the most bonded and loving girl around. Snow enjoys her time with her foster mom so much that she joins her just about everywhere...a true best friend! Snow loves people who are kind to her more than anything..she's a little lap-dog extraordinaire and derives so much joy from her time spent with gentle, dog-loving people. Snow also ... (Read More)enjoys other dogs and cats...she's just great with all beings. Snow is a kind and gentle being. . This incredibly adorable girl exudes love and loyalty...and it's catching! Snow's life to this point has been challenging but has left no visible scars on the personality of this devoted and sweet pup. Snow's foster mom had the following to say about this great dog: Snow's story is heartbreaking...she was originally turned into a shelter due to her owner moving. She was then adopted out and returned... then adopted out again in early november to the latest owner that surrendered her recently due to health issues within the family..so sad for this little girl.... Snow is fabulous with other dogs and cats. She is very good with children and very friendly with people. She is great in a house and has great manners. She is almost housebroken but may need a little work due to all the change in her life. Snow gets anxious in new settings so her new guardians will have to be aware of that and give her a bit of extra time to settle in. Snow likes to be around people as much as possible (therefore retirees or someone who works from home would be perfect). Snow loves going on walks and is very social in our neighborhood..she would love the Colorado trails. Snow is playful with other dogs but is also very mellow. She is the greatest and most loving lap dog if you let her be. No question, Snow is a love and will bring this to her new home. Snow does have some allergies that will need to be managed. She was seen by a vet and started a treatment of prednisone to get her allergies under control. She is on the second week of prednisone and will begin tapering off after that. She is also on fish oil supplement once a day and has a medicated shampoo and leave in conditioner. She has started basic sensitive stomach/allergy food called Royal Canine. The medication and supplements have helped tremendously...they're not very expensive and we would hope that this would be part of her care for the remainder of her life. Snow's bond to her people leads us to believe that she would be happiest in either a dog-loving retiree's home or with a family who enjoys spending lots of time with their furry best friend. She would blossom with the time and attention that this type of family would offer. Snow is also so portable at just 11 lbs that she is able to accompany her family just about anywhere...be it under the seat on a plane or riding shotgun in the car... Snow is ready and willing. She is a welcome guest in every situation...when comfortable, her joy starts with her little wagging tail and works its way to the smile on her cuter-than-cute face. Watch out - before you know it, she's crept into your lap and snuggled up to spend time together. Say the word walk ...or simply play together...and Snow is all over it. Off she'll go in anticipation of not only an adventure, but an interaction with loving humans and friendly dogs. Snow has an amazing attitude for a dog from a scary shelter... and it was her great temperament that saved this sweet pup's life. Snow is a non-shedding girl whose breed mix is considered one of the best for those who suffer from allergies Snow will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her beautiful and cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Snow will join Farfel's Rescue in mid-December. If interested in this sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-07-00002Lola (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Lola, at only 10 weeks old and about 6 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 35 - 40 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Lola just in time. This sweet and engaging Lab/Border Collie mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with ... (Read More)a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Lola is also incredibly adorable...with her pure white, cottony-soft coat and very wise eyes. Lola is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Lab/Border Collie mix. She's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Lola is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Lola finding her forever home with an active family or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Lola is great with children as well and would thrive in a home where there's kids to play with and love up. Lola will be up to date on her vetting, however a very young puppy like Lola is often deemed too young to spay. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Lola to be spayed and microchipped at our vet in Denver. Lola will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 12/20/16. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-06-00145Cassie (female)

Corgi    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The blue merle Cardigan Welsh Corgi is a perfect best friend for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Corgis are famous for their great personalities and loving and snuggly ways. Corgis also have stunning coats - cottony-soft and gorgeous! . Cassie's coat has the most beautiful colors running through it...a blue merle, that with great nutrition, will shine with streaks of blue, black and silver. Her striking blue eyes are soft and wise...and absolutely beautiful! These sweet Corgis are also known to love being part of a family...so great with their beloved people and other family pets. And since they ... (Read More)require a certain amount of exercise (like all dogs) and love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! Cassie would truly enjoy cruising the neighborhood paths...and then crashing on the couch snuggling close to her favorite humans and canines. Cassie is an absolutely adorable and engaging girl (so sorry about the sad shelter photo. We've requested a new one to show how truly beautiful this sweet girl is). Cassie's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes playmates everywhere she goes. Once she feels safe and secure. Cassie will be a social girl and that means everyone she meets ultimately may become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Cassie's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Cassie goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Cassie is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Welsh Corgi breed. At about 8 or 9 years old (very difficult to know with certainty) and 20 lbs, Cassie seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. She has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Cassie in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very pleasant and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Cassie would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable Corgi. Cassie doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Cassie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 12/9 16. If interested in this snuggly and sweet best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730 (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Radar is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is...with one blue and one copper colored eye (and for all the world looking like he's wearing eyeliner)..he's absolutely one of the most adorable guys around. At 18 - 24 months old and 9 lbs, Radar is a perfect size and weight to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome... while being large and active enough to love long walks while socializing with neighbors. Radar is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time ... (Read More)he is a happy and well-behaved pup (once used to his environment) who is not unnecessarily vocal. He's more likely to express himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this early point in Radar's development, he loves everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Radar to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-02-00129Astro (male)

Corgi Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Astro were his eyes shining in the dim high-kill shelter light. She stared at Astro for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this very beautiful Welsh Corgi/Terrier mix. This shelter photo definitely doesn't do this exceptional guy justice! Once Astro gets a sudsy bath and great nutrition, he'll be the most handsome guy around. The shelter personnel thought that Astro is pretty special and attached the following to his kennel card: Very sweet dog! When I approach the kennel, he greets me with a loose and wiggly body posture. He will jump on the kennel door in excitement like ... (Read More)asking me to hurry and open it so he can give me some loving. I am able to leash him without any problems, and he walks well on a loose leash. He isn't at all vocal or aggressive in any way as we walk past barking and lunging dogs. He's a really good dog and will be a great addition to a family. Astro immediately makes it clear that he's a LOVE! His adorable little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile. Astro was brought out of his cage.. and before you know it, he was in our rescuer's lap. He was so exuberant and clearly delighted with the turn his life had just taken! This 12 - 18 month old, 18 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send him over the moon. Astro wants desperately to be a family guy ...he would have the time of his life in a home where he's a vital part of the family. We feel that Astro would also do very well with either active retirees who enjoy getting out on a walk or hike and then flopping down on the for some serious loving. A dog-crazy younger family with kids would be great (older kids would be preferable as we would like Astro to be treated gently). He loves people of all ages and shows his devotion in very positive ways. Astro is an all-time smuggler. He'd love nothing more at the end of the day than to cuddle up and show his devotion. Astro would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people. We wouldn't want him to be left alone for long hours waiting for his family to arrive home in the evening.. 4 or so hours at a time are fine..but an entire day is just too long for an active and sensitive Corgi. Astro will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 12/9/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Sophie is so portable at just 8 lbs that she is able to accompany her family just about anywhere...be it under the seat on a plane or riding shotgun in the car..Sophie is ready and willing. She is a welcome guest in every situation...when comfortable, her joy starts with her little wagging tail and works its way to the smile on her cuter-than-cute face. Watch out - before you know it, she's crept into your lap and snuggled up to spend time together. Sophie has an amazing attitude for a dog from a scary shelter... but it was her great temperament that saved this sweet girl's life. Sophie would be very happy in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, walks, play time and tons of hugs. A beginning positive reinforcement obedience group class will create additional family bonding as well as promoting great behavior and confidence. Sophie, being a Poodle/Dachshund mix is a non-shedding...or very lightly shedding pup. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her beautiful Poodle-like coat silky-soft and matt-free. Sophie will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 12/2/16. Maltese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Maltese Terrier/Cairn Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their great intelligence, devoted temperaments and extremely loving ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and generally very kind and playful with family members and other dogs. Austin is just a pup and is learning about the ways of the world. He loves his long walks with his foster and is learning socialization skills...he's a very engaging and cuddly guy! At any time a fun adventure is the order of the day - count Austin in! Terriers are known to ... (Read More)engage joyfully and energetically and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines. Austin is a cute as can be.. and a very sweet guy who favors the look and loyalty of the Cairn while taking on the very intelligent and engaging qualities of the Maltese. Austin's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Austin is friendly (while perhaps initially shy) and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a close companion. You know when a loved one approaches, Austin's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Austin goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Austin is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terrier breed. At 9 - 12 months old and about 14 lbs, Austin seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Austin in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he'd love to be involved and would thrive in a forever home that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Austin would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. Austin would be overjoyed to accompany his favorite people to the park, walking beautiful Colorado trails and even riding shotgun running errands. Austin doesn't require another dog to be happy.(as long as he gets both physical exercise and mental stimulation from his people). He does, however, enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. We've requested that Austin be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado..but don't believe it will come to be. If it does not..Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for his fixing and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Austin will arrive on transport in Boulder on Saturday 12/3/16. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-22-00099Carly (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside & out) Long-Haired Dachshund in a high-kill shelter in Houston. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Carly's life and nursed her body and spirit back to joy and well-being. It's now getting to the time when Carly is ready to be transported to her new life in Colorado. Although it will be terribly hard for Carly's Texas rescuers to say goodbye...they know that she will have a great life. The following is a description of Carly by her rescuers who love her so much: --Carly is such a sweet pup just waiting to blossom. I've enjoyed watching her learn that the world can be a loving and ... (Read More)positive place. Carly had a hard start - but now she's learning about treats, belly rubs and that she's a very valuable girl! She may very well be initially shy, but just give her a bit of time and you'll have a new best friend. Carly loves the sunshine and playing outside...she has exactly the appropriate amount of energy for a 9 - 12 month old, 15 lb healthy pup. She would do great with a family who is home a lot to take walks, cuddle with and play together at the park or in the yard - she would love that! After she's had exercise and stimulation, she's ready to chill on the couch. Carly loves to snuggle, be petted and has been said to not get overly grumpy about very much. Her potentially gorgeous, shining hair appears to shed lightly and will require care...a periodic grooming and great nutrition would be perfect to keep her coat as beautiful and cottony-soft as it can be. Carly appears to be fine with other dogs but appreciates those that are respectful of her smaller size. Carly has been great with my 14 and 15 year old daughters and me! I haven't seen her around smaller kids, so that's an unknown. She's excellent with my mom, but might be a bit puppyish for a very advanced senior. Carly is a truly smart, very loving...and often very comical pup - true to her breeds!! What a gem of a best friend for a family with older kids or retirees who want to include a very cute and fun dog in their lives. Copper has the potential to be an exceptional and loyal companion. I know that Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special Doxie/Terrier her forever family. Carly appears to have a small cherry eye in one eye. By definition a cherry eye is a very simple issue involving the weakening of anchoring tissue on an ocular gland that's sometimes referred to as a third eyelid In dogs. This third eyelid plays a role that promotes oxygen supply and tear production to the eye. When working correctly, the third eyelid stays tucked away and out of sight. However, when anchoring tissue is not fully doing its job, this third eyelid can protrude from behind the eye and will be visible as a red or pink mass that partially obscures the corner of the eye. This is not a grave situation and can be fixed through massage or a minor procedure that Farfel's will pay for if our Denver vet is used. Carly will be arriving on transport in Denver in early April. If interested in this best friend who is so full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

August would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for a loving and loyal lap dog. At just about 5 or so years old and 8 lbs, August is so portable that he can be a full-time best friend accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and very sweet dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments, as well as so very cute, end up in urgent situations. It just doesn't get much cuter and sweeter than August. It's difficult to tell, but once August gets his first bath and grooming, he'll be the most handsome guy around. Once his matts are gone, August will emerge with a ... (Read More)new-found sense of confidence and self-esteem. August was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal Texas shelter if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog is awesome with so much life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family. August, being newly rescued from a very challenging life, is a blank slate waiting to learn about his world. With clear guidance and positive reinforcement group training class, August can have great behavior and be a very bonded companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart! August may be frightened initially after transport since rehoming is scary ..but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine. We envision August with loving and kind retirees...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. It's not that August is a needy guy...not at all...he just loves the company of his humans who respect him for all his wonderful traits. August appears to like children...but we would only be open to older, dog-crazy kids who can be gentle and understanding that August is a small guy and needs soft and gentle handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery, August would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk, fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air, so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then, maybe his favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside his favorite people. August is a non-shedding guy and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breeds available today. He will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. August will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 12/2/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-22-00006Kelsie-PENDING! (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

When Kelsie's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the terrified yet adorable (and so sad-looking) Kelsie tucked tightly into a cage...her time was up. Farfel's Rescue immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this little Schnauzer/Cairn Terrier mix is..and the need to save her life. We immediately agreed and Kelsie became a very treasured Farfel's dog. She earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with her great personality (although initially a bit shy..who wouldn't be?) and her kind attitude toward the world. At just about 9 - 12 months old and a perfect ... (Read More)lap-size of 14 lbs, this beautiful girl is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best adult dog she's capable of being. We'd love to match Kelsie to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable pup..she will fall completely in love with these special people and there's no more loyal companion around than Kelsie. She's a perfect size to accompany her family just about anywhere...and would love it. Kelsie has gotten a ton of hugs and attention at the shelter. You immediately know she's sweet...and just a touch fragile and vulnerable right now. It's clear that she hadn't been properly cared for in the past and we can't wait for a great family to make her the diva she should be. After some great nutrition and a spa day, Cindy will be a beautiful and fuzzy teddy bear (with the cutest face around). When Kelsie turns her gentle (yet very wise) look in your direction, you can't help but smile at her soft gaze and adorable ways. You can see just a touch of a sign that this young dog has had difficult times. But not for her to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Kelsie's style. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an very loving family ( with older, very gentle kids would be great) for Kelsie. It's not that she doesn't like very young kids...she does...we're just concerned with tail-pulling and awkward carrying. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this for this beautiful girl. She would thrive on the time and attention that she could share. Kelsie is a very loyal and positive-minded dog..that makes her easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Kelsie would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who could be gentle playmates. When you're only 14 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious dogs. Kelsie will be the most beautiful girl on the block after a sudsy bath and grooming. She will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great) to keep her beautiful coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Cindy will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 12/2/16. If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful Schnauzer/Terrier in a high-kill shelter in Houston. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Franny's life and nursed her body and spirit back to joy and well-being. Franny is such a sweet dog with a smile on her face...except that is, when she's in a high-kill shelter fighting for her life. Franny's shelter photo is awful! She's a gorgeous girl and that photo in no way comes close to doing her justice. We'll update with a photo that captures the beauty of this lovely dog. Franny loves treats, belly rubs, and car rides. She will walk right beside you on- leash and hardly barks at all. She is ... (Read More)initially slightly shy of men, but warms up very quickly. Franny loves to run and play outside, plus she is a great hiker! she has exactly the appropriate amount of energy for a 9 - 12 month old, 18 lb healthy pup. Franny would do well with a family who is home a lot to take walks, play with and make visits to the park - she would love that! She'd also like to chill on the couch and snuggle, be petted and has never gotten overly grumpy about much of anything. She loves other dogs of all sizes and always behaves appropriately. Franny is a truly smart pup. She appears to have the silly and very friendly traits of the scruffy Terrier while also carrying the lap-loving, very intelligent and more dignified qualities of the Schnauzer. What a gem of a best friend for a family who wants to include a very cute and sweet dog in their life. Franny has every trait to be a truly exceptional and loyal companion. Like most Schnauzer mixes, Franny either doesn't shed or is a light shedder (we'll know for certain when her sad shelter coat grows out and is replaced by a healthy, lovely coat). Franny will require a commitment to periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy, gorgeous and matt-free. Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special and beautiful dog her forever family. Franny will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 12/2/16. Lhasa Apso Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

When Brooke's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Brooke tucked tightly into a cage...her time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix is..and the need to save her life. We agreed and Brooke became a very treasured Farfel's dog. She earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with her great personality and kind and positive attitude toward the world. At about 6 years old and 12 lbs (perfect age and size..old enough to have left babyish ways behind and young enough to have ... (Read More)many, many years ahead to accompany her people just about everywhere), this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog she's capable of being. We'd love to match Brooke to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable girl. She's a perfect size to accompany her family just about anywhere...and would love it. Brooke gets lots of attention when she's out and about...she's very engaging (while just a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. She's also extremely eye-catching...her expressive eyes draw you in while you experience her warmth and kindness. When Brooke turns that wise look in your direction, you can't help but smile at her adorable ways. Belly rubs are nirvana for Brooke and before you know it she's cuddling in your lap expressing her love and loyalty. You can see just a bit of a sign that this pup has had difficult times...at some point Brooke hurt her leg and was never given the medical help that was needed. But Brooke is a trooper and has overcompensated for her leg..she gets around well and is playful and happy. And not for sweet Brooke to ever be negative..a smile and a wag is more her style. It's clear that she has left her pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for a calm and very loving family for Brooke. This could be retirees who love to spend time with their furry best friend (she's the best lap pup ever)...she would thrive on the time and attention that they often put into their pets. Or a family with dog-crazy older kids would be perfect as well. While Brooke isn't a hiker, she would be the best friend and companion anyone could hope for. Brooke, once bonded, will be a loyal and positive companion. This makes her very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Brooke would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 12 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs. Brooke has a stunning non-shedding coat with the most beautiful silver streaks running through it. She therefore will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat cottony-soft and matt-free. . Brooke is being loved in a foster home in the Denver area. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-12-00079London-PENDING! (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like young energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm doggie breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think that they're homeless in rural Texas. Farfel's was told about the great personality and over- the- top cuteness of this special puppy and made the decision to help London find her first ever forever family. She deserves a great home and loving guardian just as much as any other sweet pup with a great temperament. Please note - the only photo that was made available to us in no way showed the cuteness and irresistible personality of this special ... (Read More)puppy . We've requested a better, clearer photo but haven't received it at this point. London, at just 8 weeks old and 4.4 lbs, was facing the possible end of her life just as it was beginning. ...she was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging mix (an up and coming designer breed that's loved for it's super-soft coat and engaging personalities) is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. London is also very beautiful...with the gorgeous, shining and cottony-soft coat that speaks of her breed mix. London is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of these breeds. She's also bright and so loving (loves to cuddle in your lap-but watch out..puppy energy may call). London clearly has no memory of her scary early life. Since London is such a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. London will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through being exposed to many different situations out in the world such as puppy kindergarten and positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the outside world with appropriate behavior. We're very open to London finding her forever home with active retirees with lots of time and energy to train and enjoy a young dog. London is known to love children and therefore a family with kids would also be perfect for her. Roughhousing with other dogs is always very fun for London...she'd love another playful dog to run and tumble with. London is up to date on her vetting, but has yet to be spayed. We're hoping that she'll be fixed when she arrives from Texas, however a puppy like London is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for London to be spayed and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. London will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 11/22/16. We've requested a better, clearer photo but haven't received it at this point. Milan, at just 8 weeks old and 3.2 lbs, was facing the possible end of his life just as it was beginning. ...he was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging mix (an up and coming designer breed that's loved for it's super-soft coat and engaging personalities) is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Milan is also very beautiful...with the gorgeous, shining and cottony-soft coat that speaks of his breed mix. Milan is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart and very engaging...so typical of these breeds. He's also bright and so loving (loves to cuddle in your lap-but watch out..puppy energy may call). Milan clearly has no memory of his scary early life. Since Milan is such a young guy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. Milan will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through being exposed to many different situations out in the world such as puppy kindergarten and positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the outside world with appropriate behavior. We're very open to Milan finding his forever home with active retirees with lots of time and energy to train and enjoy a young dog. Milan is known to love children and therefore a family with kids would also be perfect for him. Roughhousing with other dogs is always very fun for Milan...he'd love another playful dog to run and tumble with. Milan is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he'll be fixed when he arrives from Texas, however a puppy like Milan is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Milan to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Milan will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 11/22/16.     We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. Dallas is the kind of pup who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts his tiny head on your shoulder. He's so new and fresh with every possibility open to him. That's the case unless a puppy is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuers in saving Dallas ...she could see that his temperament was so sweet and lovable that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Dallas was immediately brought to be vetted and then brought to a great Houston foster home to receive pure love and begin his ... (Read More)education. It turns out that Dallas, at just 8 weeks old and 2.5 lbs is already so smart and engaging that his foster could see that he'll be a great family companion. Dallas is expected to be approximately 30 lbs when full-grown (perfect hiking size!). Dallas is such a great spirit that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for his foster mom. Dallas is cute as a button and so silly. He is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If Dallas continues his foster mom's regimen of socialization that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...he will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion. Dallas is a gorgeous Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix puppy with the cutest face ever and a cottony-soft coat that speaks of good health. Dallas's sometimes calm and often silly demeanor is just who he is...he just appears to be more entertaining than your average puppy. If he is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, Dallas will become a well-adjusted guy who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for this sweet and cuddly puppy. We also feel it's very important that Dallas is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He would be overjoyed with walks along Colorado paths enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home or chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Dallas can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere. Dallas may be arriving in Boulder unfixed due to his very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to his neuter, microchip and any additional puppy shots he might require. Dallas's teddy bear coat will require a commitment to periodic sudsy baths. Serious brushing combined with great nutrition will keep this puppy's coat healthy, matt-free and silky-soft. Dallas will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 12/1/16. If interested in this beautiful and very sweet companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-02-00230Jackson (male)

Pomeranian Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jackson is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wiggle. Once he gets a sudsy bath and grooming...Jazz will absolutely be one of the most beautiful guys around. At 6 to7 years old and 12 lbs, Jackson is every bit the young and joyful guy...fun and active....but at the same time he is a well-behaved pup who is not yappy or unnecessarily needy - he expresses himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses. At this early point in Jackson's development, he loves everyone..be it human or canine.. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Jazz to a family who expresses their ... (Read More)devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Jackson to be loved and petted and given the gift of socialization to make him the very best adult dog he's capable of being. We'd also like Jackson to be with retirees who are absolutely dog-crazy or with an active family that will include this sweet and fun guy in their activities. Jackson is so portable that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Jackson loves being outside in the warm sunshine..therefore a hike in the beautiful Colorado mountains would really speak to this little guy. Jackson is young enough that he is open to being introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Jackson's new family needs to have the motivation and energy for an adult dog...he requires behavioral guidance, tons of love to give him a positive attitude about the world and a warm lap to welcome him at the end of a busy day. Jackson is neutered, good with cats and dogs, and up-to-date on his vaccinations. Farfel's will be happy to cover the microchip for Jackson at our Denver vet immediately after his arrival in Colorado. Jackson appears to be a non-shedding guy and will therefore require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Applications are currently being accepted and Meet and Greets are being set up for this wonderful guy. If interested in this sweet and very loyal companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-30-00014Savannah (female)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Savannah could be that dream come true pup for a family or retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet companion. The Golden Retriever/Sheltie mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart, very loving and fun family dog. Savannah's story is all too common in her extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Kansas shelter. But who could ignore her sweetness and desire to bond with someone who would be her best friend? Savannah, while initially shy...her engaging and adorable nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated. She is such a wonderful being...we think she ... (Read More)represents some of the best qualities of the Golden and Sheltie breeds. Savannah, with her loving attitude, seems to be in the process of leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. At about 9 - 12 months old and 30 lbs, Savannah is a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would love to see Savannah in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's learning about being social and would thrive in a home that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Savannah would also be a wonderful companion for very active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Savannah is an energetic girl who would be so excited with long hikes and fun activities like snow shoeing and going for runs with her favorite people...to be followed by crashing on the couch for some serious belly rubs. Savannah will do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be fun time at a park, a visit with friends, or just an afternoon spending time together enjoying each other's company... all of this would speak to Savannah's pleasant and fun temperament and extremely loving ways. We've requested that Savannah be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Savannah's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Savannah will arrive on transport in Denver on Friday 11/4/16. If interested in this sweet and engaging best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)
