Rescue Me ID: 18-05-24-00162Quinn (female)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Cavalier King Charles mix is a perfect best friend for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. These breeds are famous for their great personalities and loving and snuggly ways. The Spaniel breeds have stunning coats that, when healthy with love and great nutrition, will be cottony-soft and matt-free. Quinn's coat has the most gorgeous colors running through it...shades of apricot that are just waiting to shine with a sudsy bath and great care. These sweet Spaniels are known to love being part of a family...so engaging with their beloved people and other family pets. Since they require a certain amount ... (Read More)of exercise (like all dogs) and love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! Quinn will truly enjoy cruising the trails and paths of the Colorado mountains...and then crashing on the couch snuggling close to her favorite humans and canines. Quinn is a gorgeous example of her breed mix (so sorry about the sad shelter photo). We've requested a grooming for Quinn and will update photos at that time Quinn's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes playmates everywhere she goes. Once she feels safe and secure. Quinn will be a social girl and that means everyone she meets ultimately may become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Quinn's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Quinn goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. At 4 months old and 7 lbs (anticipated to be about 12 - 15 lbs once full grown), Quinn seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. She has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Quinn in a home that includes her in family time and activities. She would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with an adorable young pup. Quinn doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. We've requested that Quinn be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Quinn's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Quinn will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 5/30/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, fun-loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Quinn, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-05-24-00140Charlie (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There are many, many Poodle and Bichon lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be two of the most desirable breeds available today. This is due to their consistently great temperaments and super- intelligence. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their stunning non-shedding coats (considered to be two of the most hypoallergenic breeds available today) and their soft, expressive eyes. Charlie is an extremely cute and lovable Poodle mix. It's difficult to tell in this photo (due to his shaved coat because of matts) but once his hair grows out, Charlie will have the non-shedding and cottony-soft coat of his ... (Read More)breed mix. Charlie also has the cutest underbite ever! He always looks like he's smiling..and his wonderful and very happy/positive personality speaks of his joy. Charlie is about 3.5 years old (such a great age..past babyish behavior with many, many healthy years ahead) and just about 17 lbs...perfect size for hiking mountain trails as well as accompanying his family everywhere a smaller, well-behaved dog is welcome. The Poodle and Bichon breeds are a solid combination both physically and in stability of temperament. It is for this reason that they seem to acclimate well to change and be outstanding family members. It's safe to say that Charlie has lived in happy harmony with both humans and dogs... and seems to be very comfortable with both. We feel strongly that Charlie's forever family should have the motivation to continue his socialization and offer him the gift of positive reinforcement group obedience training classes. Through these clear boundaries and leadership by his humans, Charlie will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so gorgeous both inside and out and deserves a family that appreciates the gift of his temperament and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We are searching for an active family...either retirees or a younger family with older, very gentle dog-loving kids. Another like-sized and fun doggie playmate and a fenced yard would be great for Charlie. He (like all dogs) is happier and therefore more well-behaved if he's fulfilled with exercise and fun... followed by snuggling with his favorite people. It would be a family that spend lots of time at home (or chooses to take a sweet dog with them to dog-friendly situations) that would provide a great forever home for Charlie. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. Charlie will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. We've requested that he be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Charlie's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Charlie will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 5/30/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and cuddly best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-24-00119Flower (female)

Maltese Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet Maltese or Scottish Terrier gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that pups of these breed mixes are very loving and intelligent. They also fit well into a dog-loving family...and make great companions as well as the ultimate lap dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization and they will shine. Flower is just about 6 months old (such a great age - young enough to be fun, active and adventurous while being a blank slate for training) and weighs 8 lbs (a great size to be very portable..she can go anywhere a ... (Read More)small dog is welcome). Flower will gently warm your lap and express her love with her loyalty and sweetness. Flower's Kansas rescuer sent the following information about sweet Flower: I was the lucky one that fostered Flower before her journey to Colorado. Let me start off by saying she is a doll! She is such a wonderful cuddle bug! I have 3 other very friendly, like-sized dogs as well as a 12 year old daughter and she did fine with everyone. She didn't choose to play initially because she was a bit overwhelmed and would rather be with her humans... either curled up on our laps or cuddling on our bed. Flower is super, super sweet! She slept on our bed and had no issues at all. She slept like a log all night!. I will cry like a baby when I drop her off for transport to Colorado but know that she will be in good hands with Farfel's! Flower has inherited the intelligence and fun-loving spirit of the Terrier breeds. If she is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident pup who will be a wonderful companion. Flower has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. We'd like to place Flower in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Flower will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside this incredibly cute girl. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Flower will love the trails of Colorado as well as taking long walks along neighborhood paths. She's also the perfect size for window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Flower will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return . Flower has a beautiful non-shedding (or possibly lightly-shedding) coat. With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is recommended for lifelong hair care and longevity), she will develop the cottony-soft, shining hair of a healthy, well-cared for coat. We've requested that Flower be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Flower's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Flower will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 5/30/18. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-24-00103Emily (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our sweet and beautiful Emily couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Emily is an 18 - 24 month old Dachshund/Poodle mix that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Both Dachshunds and Poodles are extremely popular breeds. This makes perfect sense in that they're known for their great temperaments, super-intelligence and easygoing and loyal personalities. Farfel's tries to rescue Dachshunds and Poodles that are in need of our help with confidence they will have great personalities and be very loving family members. Emily has all these wonderful traits and was described by the Kansas shelter personnel as just about ... (Read More)perfect! Emily has had a challenging period of time but is now safe and soundČ'Ř|never to be cold or hungry again. But through it allČ'Ř|Emily doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Emily is so young, she's somewhat of a blank slateČ'Ř|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with her family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Emily and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Emily be a companion that is well-behaved (she's mastering that right now!) in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between dog and family. Emily tends to be a happy-go-lucky girl who loves life and responds so well to love and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome). She's the greatest lap-dog and thinks being held and petted is the most awesome.. and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Emily gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite person for belly rubs and kind words. Emily loves to come along (and is very portable at about 11 lbs)..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a walk on a Colorado path, a vacation or just socializingČ'Ř|Emily would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance to fit in just about anywhere. We envision Emily in a home that will provide her with exercise and mental stimulation. She's great with other dogs and would be a great best friend for older kids! Emily wouldn't be happy spending long hours aloneČ'Ř|she is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Emily would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a young dog, she'd also learn that she's special...and loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Emily appears to be a non-shedding (or perhaps very light shedding) girl. Therefore she will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great choice for lifelong coat care and longevity) to keep her gorgeous coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Emily be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Daniel's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Emily will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 5/30/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, engaging and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Emily, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-23-00165Parker (female)

Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young pup. Parker is the kind of puppy who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her head on your shoulder. She's so sweet (while being initially a bit shy) and very loving with every possibility open to her. This is the case unless a puppy like Parker is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space.. or on the streets hiding in the shadows. We're so grateful for the efforts of an older woman who over several months fed and loved Parker and her two companions while they lived in a field. The day arrived when she could no longer afford to care for the threesome.. ... (Read More)and her heart was clearly broken as she turned them into the local shelter. She begged that they be vetted, fed well and placed with a family that loves them like crazy. The shelter complied...Farfel's was contacted that very day and we welcomed Parker and her companions into Farfel's Rescue. When we think of rescue, our thoughts don't usually go onto the tough streets of an urban city. But these forgotten dogs deserve our help every bit as much as their shelter counterparts. Many have been used for opportunistic purposes...to either breed and discard or to sell as a puppy. Those that have lived on the streets often survive by learning social skills. They are engaging with people because they're their only means of survival. They try to fit quietly into any scene to earn a treat or discarded meal. This was the life that Parker was living with her companions..with daily visits by their savior with food and water. Parker is a gorgeous 6 month old, 12 lb sweet and puppy-silly girl who is anticipated to be approximately 25 - 28 lbs when full-grown. (We've requested additional photos of Parker to show her cuteness and gorgeous puppy face). This is such a perfect size to be able to accompany her family just about anywhere and fit right in due to her great temperament. Parker is already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. We all have a clear picture of this very sweet and fun-loving pup in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes her for life. As Parker becomes comfortable in her home, she will blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please...the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she will shine with her accomplishments. We would like to see Parker in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some lap or couch-time with belly rubs would be perfect!)... as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. These classes take a very smart and cooperative puppy like Parker and teaches them the skills to accompany their family out into the world with great behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Parker will be a wonderful and devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Parker would enjoy another gentle dog or puppy to play with...she's so sweet and gentle as she puts her positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend. Parker has a stunning and cottony-soft coat that's consistent with her breed mix. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (a lifelong salmon oil supplement is important for longevity and coat care) to keep her hair very healthy and matt-free. Parker will be arriving on transport in Denver in early June. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-23-00012Preston (male)

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Preston could be that dream come true pup for retirees or an adult family who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet best friend. When morning comes, Preston is the perfect companion for a long walk or hike enjoying the beauty of the day. After this fun outdoor adventure, Preston loves to be close...maybe hanging out quietly in a home office while enjoying his favorite toy (a fun game of tug is greatly appreciated by this playful guy). Preston is just an all-around great dog who is thrilled to be with his favorite people. Preston is such a great dog for anyone who is searching for a guy who's extremely lovable, snuggly ... (Read More)and a great full-time companion. At 9 - 12 months old..he's such a great age - old enough to be past any babyish behavior and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead. Preston is such a great size at 15 lbs...he has the ability to participate in long hikes or other outdoor adventures. And then, Preston would love nothing more then to just chill on the couch or bed, close beside his favorite people. Farfel's is very committed to placing Preston with a family that derives great joy from showering a beautiful and sweet dog with nothing but love and kindness. Once comfortable, Preston loves playing and accompanying his people on car rides (so much fun!) and all adventures where a very sweet, smaller dog is welcome. Preston is entertaining in his antics, young energy and the huge love that lives inside just waiting to blossom. Preston would do great with a person or people who are invested in spending time with their pup. Sometimes when life gets lonely, Preston will always be there to cuddle and stay close. He's happy to share a bed or couch at any time..he's just a natural-born snuggler. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Preston to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Preston appears to be a non-shedding (or very light shedding) guy...although it's difficult to tell for certain until his sad shelter hair grows out. Preston will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great lifelong choice for longevity and coat care) to keep his hair healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Preston has been vetted, up to date on vaccinations and neutered. This protocol is in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy dogs and our ongoing efforts to pursue zero population growth. Preston will be arriving on transport in Denver in late May to early June (we'll update when the transport date is finalized). Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, engaging and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-22-00178Carson (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

When Carson's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Kansas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Carson tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Terrier is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Carson became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament (a bit shy initially but warms up quickly) that holds every possibility for a great future. At just 2 - 2.5 years old and a tiny 4 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate ... (Read More)waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Carson to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's that perfect tiny size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Carson and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Carson gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching and wears an endearing smile...his foster thinks he's just an adorable and fun-loving scruffy Terrier that's irresistible! When Carson turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Carson's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family for Carson. It''s not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Carson is more comfortable and braver around adult energy. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Carson, once bonded, will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Carson would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 4 lbs, even a very well-adjusted dog can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious dogs . Carson is so grateful being out of the shelter that there's almost always a smile on his beautiful face. Carson is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Carson's foster mom is very happy to report that Carson is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Carson will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Carson will be arriving on transport in Denver in late May to early June (we'll update when the transport date is finalized). Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, engaging and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-22-00165Clover (female)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier or Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breed mixes are loving/snuggly, smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household (perfect size for low maintenance) and make excellent, very loyal companions for all age groups as well as other dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Clover is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment ... (Read More)of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. Clover is such a great age and size... at approximately 3 - 3.5 years old (such a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life yet old enough to have left her babyish behaviors behind) and weighs 7 lbs (great size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet and well-behaved small dog is welcome). Clover is lucky enough to have inherited the superior intelligence, curiosity and fun-loving nature of the Terrier breeds. She is so excited and attentive when her people teach her the wonders of her world. If Clover is trained with a positive reinforcement trainer and given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs, she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful companion and lap dog extraordinaire. Clover has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a puppyish desire to please. We'd like to place Clover in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Clover would also enjoy the company of a sweet and respectful like-sized canine...she would love the playtime and companionship. Clover will love the trails and paths of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy long walks on mountain trails or socializing on neighborhood paths...when she becomes tired, a front pack is perfect for Clover to watch the view from above. Window-shopping would also be great to fine-tune her urban skills and provide the socialization that is so important in the development of a dog's abilities. With feelings of security within the family, Clover will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return. Clover has the softest, non-shedding hair that you can imagine. That being the case, she will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a perfect lifelong supplement for longevity and coat care) to keep her coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Clover will be arriving on transport in Denver in late May or early June (date will be updated when it gets final confirmation). Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving and devoted best friend.. and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Clover please be sure to fill out our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-21-00021Copper (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Copper, at just 15 weeks old and approximately 10 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 15 lbs), was facing homelessness at such a young and vulnerable age. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy with a great temperament (although initially shy until acclimated..then the sweetest guy around)..they rescued Copper just in time. Copper is starting ... (Read More)out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous golden coat that is so cottony-soft that you just want to pet him all day. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (salmon oil is an important life-long supplement for longevity and coat care) to keep his hair soft and very healthy. Copper is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's the world's greatest lap dog and snuggler having a strong, puppyish desire to be loved...and returns that devotion a thousand times over. He's super- smart and very engaging...very typical of the cross of a Terrier and a Papillon. Both of these breeds are known for their sense of humors and fun-loving, positive slant on life. Since Copper is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Copper will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with great behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force-free) trainers in your area. We're open to Copper finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a very sweet, extremely loving and super-smart puppy. A younger family would also be great (Copper loves children) that either works part-time or from home. Copper is far too sensitive to be left home alone for the entire day. Copper will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. We've requested that he be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Copper's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Copper will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 5/26/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and cuddly best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out and submit. **PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Copper, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-17-00018Albert (male)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Albert is the pup you want to have around! Albert, at just about 18 months old and 10 lbs, is just naturally a lover (initially a bit shy but warms up and blossoms) ....when he looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes and sweet smile, your heart just has to melt. Albert is a truly beautiful Spaniel mix with all the traits that make these very smart and personality-plus dogs very popular and beloved breed mixes. Albert enjoys his time with his foster mom so much that he joins her just about everywhere she goes...it's so important to Albert to be a true best ... (Read More)friend! He loves his people more than anything and would definitely win a lap-dog award. Albert cuddles close on the couch (or snuggling close on the bed all night is perfect!) with his beautiful head draped over his favorite person's leg...an occasional kiss from Albert is inevitable. He's a sensitive and very sweet guy who derives so much joy from his time spent with his people and his doggy siblings. Albert is a young, healthy guy who will love his family with all his heart. He would enjoy another kind and gentle dog to play with and then would love nothing more than to lie in the sunshine enjoying a beautiful day. Albert will have so much fun exploring and taking long walks along the Colorado trails. He is always open to new activities with a never-ending positive attitude...just say the word and up Albert jumps for a car ride, a fun hike or just a sociable walk around the neighborhood. Albert's foster mom had the following to brag about this sweet guy: Albert is a stunning Cavalier King Charles mix with a beautiful face and the prettiest and wisest eyes ever. He's 18 months old, weighs 16 lbs and just gets more loving, smarter and more engaging every single day. Albert can be a bit shy when you initially meet him... but some love, soft petting and great treats makes it easier for Albert to loosen up and be his very loving self. I would love to see Albert in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and kind dog. I'd hate to see Albert left alone all day while his family works full-time. I think he's too sensitive for that. He's such an amazing dog and just the right size and temperament to accompany his people just about anywhere. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Albert in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. Albert appears to be a non-shedding or very lightly shedding pup (it's difficult to tell for certain until his sad shelter coat grows out). Albert will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (salmon oil is a great lifelong supplement for longevity and coat care) to keep his cottony-soft coat very healthy and matt-free. We've requested that Albert be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't...Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Albert's neuter and microchip if our Denver area vet is used. Albert will be arriving on transport in Boulder in mid to late May (we'll update when the transport date is finalized). Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, engaging and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-16-00251Sawyer (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're unwanted and at risk of euthanasia at a high- kill shelter. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great New Mexico rescuer in saving Sawyer...she could see that his temperament was so sweet and kind that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Farfel's was immediately contacted by Sawyer's rescuer...we were thrilled to welcome this loving and beautiful puppy into our rescue. It turns out that Sawyer, at just about 15 weeks old and approximately 10 lbs (expected to be ... (Read More)approximately 28 - 35 lbs when full-grown) is so lovable, super-smart and so very sweet that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for his rescuer and foster mom. Sawyer is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If he continues his current regimen with his foster of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Sawyer will become a well-adjusted and very loving adult companion. Puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience class will get this very smart puppy ready for a life of inclusion with his family. Through these classes, Sawyer will learn cause and effect in his relationship with other dogs. He will also view his people as his leaders, therefore developing a desire to please and to be partners with his family. Sawyer would also be a natural for agility classes and fly ball. He would have so much fun and come to enjoy this special time spent with his favorite humans. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. Sawyer is a gorgeous Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix puppy with a shining, cottony-soft coat that speaks of his breed mix. His stunning coat will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is an amazing life-long supplement for coat care and longevity). A family that loves Sawyer like crazy is exactly the type of folks we're searching for for this silly/fun, entertaining and very loving puppy. We also feel it's very important that he is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. Sawyer will be overjoyed if his future holds hikes along Colorado trails enjoying the sunshine. Socializing with other hikers and their dogs will definitely speak to the engaging nature of this wonderful puppy. We'd love a family for Sawyer that spends lots of time at home.. and chooses to include a fuzzy best friend in their activities. Sawyer can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community. He can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere with the assurance that he'll be a social and appropriate guy. Sawyer will be arriving in Boulder unfixed due to his very young age. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to his neuter, microchip and any additional puppy shots he might require if our Denver vet is used. Sawyer will be arriving on transport in Denver in mid-May (we'll confirm the date as soon as it's finalized). She is a sweet as can be and super-smart Australian Cattle Dog mixed with a Labrador Retriever...hoping for the smaller size and super-intelligence of the Cattle Dog mixed with the very easy-going and agreeable nature of the Lab. Amber is the perfect size to accompany her family on long hikes (both Labs and Cattle Dogs are excellent hiking companions and love the togetherness!) or any fun and active adventures. She would be a natural at agility or flyball..having the enthusiasm and sense of fun to love the challenge. Amber is appropriately playful and fun-loving for her young age. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-11-00035Sedona-PENDING! (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Sedona, at 12 weeks old and approximately 10 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 35 - 45 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this beautiful puppy...they rescued Sedona and her sister just in time. This sweet and engaging Labrador Retriever/ Australian Cattle Dog mix is starting out with great ... (Read More)energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life with every possibility. Sedona is incredibly beautiful...from her gorgeous & cottony-soft white coat with brindle markings (such unique coloring) to her adorable puppy face...a cutie-pie in every way. We're told that these photos in no way do this beautiful puppy justice. We'll update the moment we receive new photos from Sedona's New Mexico foster mom. Since Sedona is just a baby, she's a blank slate waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy socialization class followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes. It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with friendly and engaging behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Sedona is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age...learning about the world in that very cute way that healthy, well-adjusted puppies do. She will blossom with a family that includes her in many aspects of their lives. The more that Sedona is taken along and included in dog-friendly activities with friends and their dogs, the better behaved, more socialized.. and more excited she will be. Hiking the mountain trails will be perfect for Sedona as she matures..and will provide opportunities to become more social and comfortable with other dogs and their people. We're open to Sedona finding her forever home with very active retirees with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young puppy. She would also be great with a younger family that works out of the home. As a puppy, Sedona is great with children of all ages. We would like to place Sedona only with children with impulse control as tail pulling or awkward handling will lead Sedona to be cautious with kids later on in her life. Sedona will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from New Mexico, however a young puppy like Sedona is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Sedona to be spayed/microchipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Sedona is arriving on transport in Denver in mid-May (exact date hasn't been confirmed at this point..will update shortly). Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet puppy. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Sedona, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-05-08-00101Eva (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Eva is a dignified older lady who, In her senior years, was found on the side of a rural road in southern Texas. An animal control officer was visiting family on a hot and sticky day when he noticed a motionless fuzzy being partially in the road. When he stopped to investigate, he found Eva - overwhelmed with heat, in dire need of water..but still able to show her gratitude with a weak lick. He quickly scooped her up, provided water and gently placed her in the passenger seat. Her savior rushed Eva to the local shelter for vet assessment and care. Luck was on her side that day...our compassionate rescuer was in the shelter lobby and had the ... (Read More)pleasure of meeting Eva as she arrived. The decision took seconds...after she held her close and Eva snuggled in with so much love and trust, our rescuer knew this sweet girl was coming home with her. Farfel's was contacted hours later and we happily accepted Eva into Farfel's Rescue. Eva, at 15 lbs (such a perfect size for walks as well as lap-sitting) and approximately 9.5 years old has many healthy years left to be a full-time best friend. (Poodles and Poodle mixes often live to a very ripe old age). Eva would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that wonderful spirit in their lives. She will be by your side to hug and love on..a kind and loving being to hold close when the challenges of the world seem overwhelming. At the same time, Eva is a low-maintenance girl who also has the ability to keep herself busy (or take a nap) while her family is involved in other things. Eva's vet assessment was almost perfect. It was found that she has age-related changes in her eyes..and therefore her vision may be compromised. It was also found that she favors one back leg slightly more than another...neither of these concern Eva (or the vets) in the least! She's a happy, very, very sweet and kind girl who just wants to be a member of a family where she will be loved like crazy..and she will return that devotion a million times over. After spending time with Eva, her Texas foster is positive that this beautiful girl was loved very much at one time as she's well-adjusted with high self-esteem. She had the following to say about sweet Eva: Eva is such a sweet, super- smart and wonderful girl! My whole family loves her so much already. Eva has been great with both my dogs (like-sized to Eva). She loves very gentle kids...my neighbor's children who are 9 and 11 fell in love with her and she with them! They had so much fun watching movies and eating popcorn with Eva wedged so happily between them...such a touching scenario. Eva is very respectful of my home and has been a welcome guest! She's a quiet spirit but loves to interact (in a very positive way) with my dogs. They go into the yard, do some patrolling and then enjoy the sunshine. Then the best part ever...Eva lies close beside me on the couch with her beautiful head draped over my leg. Eva may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog...but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Eva with either retirees (she would be overjoyed with time spent and being at the center of a loving family) or a younger family who works at home. For those family members who enjoy neighborhood walks and time outside, Eva would love nothing more than to share the experience. Her foster loves daily walks to socialize with neighbors and Eva comes along. She is very happy for these daily outings, fascinated by the activity around her. Eva breathes in the air...so happy to be out and about. And then, maybe her favorite part, it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot close beside her beloved family members. As a Poodle/Bichon mix (or purebred Poodle), Eva is a non-shedding girl (often considered to be the most hypoallergenic breeds available today). She will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is excellent for lifelong coat care and longevity), to keep her coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Farfel's has requested that Eva be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur in this industrial area of Texas with many, many homeless dogs and not enough vets to care for them. It it doesn't, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Eva's spay/microchip if our Denver vet is used. Eva is arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/1/18. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet girl. If interested in this beautiful ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Eva, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-03-00178Meadow (female)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

If you're searching for a very devoted and loving best friend....Meadow is the pup you want to have around! Meadow, at just about 2.5 years old and 24 lbs is the perfect size to take just about anywhere. She's portable enough to accompany her people everywhere a sweet dog is welcome and large enough to love going hiking or taking a long walk with her family. Meadow can initially be a bit hesitant...but give her a bit and she becomes the most bonded and loving girl around. Meadow is also very beautiful. This sad photo in no way does this gorgeous girl justice..with her cottony-soft and shining coat and beautiful dark eyes with so much ... (Read More)wisdom. Meadow enjoys her time with her rescuer so much that she joins her just about everywhere...a true best friend! She loves being out and about on their morning hikes or long walks around the neighborhood. Meadow is also a couch-dog extraordinaire and derives so much joy from her time spent with her family. Meadow enjoys other dogs who are kind and gentle to play with..it's so much fun for her to interact and enjoy fun times together. This adorable dog (and often silly and funny girl once comfortable in her home) exudes love and loyalty...and it's catching! Meadow's tough early life has taught her how special it is to be loved and she's grateful for all the kindness that comes her way. She continues to learn and blossom every day now that she's out of her challenging circumstances.. and responds to people as well as other dogs in a very positive and engaging way. Meadow's bond to humans and her smaller and very desirable size leads us to believe that she would be happy in either an active retiree's home...she would blossom with the time, attention and lap time that this type of family would offer. Or a younger family that works part time or from home with dog-loving, very gentle children would also be great. Meadow will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. Farfel's has requested that Meadow be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for her spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Meadow will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great lifelong choice for coat care and longevity). Through this protocol, Meadow's coat will always be very healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Meadow is arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 5/18/18. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet girl. Rescue Me ID: 18-04-30-00128Bamboo (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bamboo looked every bit the stray as he came into a high-kill shelter in Texas. It was possible that this beautiful 55 lb, 2.5 year old Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd (with the most expressive and trusting dark eyes ever) had never had a bath in his life. They're treated so poorly and disrespectfullyČ'Ř|and then disposed of when their perceived use is over. But Bamboo is strong and his sweetness and great personality always shines through. Bamboo had always been a huge shelter favorite from the moment he was processed until he was lucky enough to leave the shelter. When he was scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space, shelter staff ... (Read More)immediately created a plea to save his life. The plea said the following: It's truly Bamboo's absolute last chance today. We've begged, literally begged, for one more day for this amazing dog. Why? Because he is absolutely fabulous! It's not just me that thinks so (and I've never written a recommendation like this for any other dog in my 18 years at the shelter)..it's all of us. The moment we get to the shelter in the morning, Bamboo is our high! We hug him and he hugs us back with the biggest smile on his goofy face. He spends the day in the office sleeping on our feet or taking long walks just to enjoy the day. When we heard about Bamboo's pending euthanasia, we were all visibly shaken knowing it was going to be his last day on Earth. I can't even express how thrilled we all were when we heard that Bamboo was saved by Farfel's Rescue. He will be the best friend any family can possibly have! None of us will ever forget Bamboo's gentle nature, kindness and super-smarts. We are so excited to wish Bamboo the greatest life (for the greatest dog) in Colorado! Love you Bamboo! Bamboo is currently in a foster home in the Denver area. His foster mom had the following to say about this wonderful dog: Bamboo would be a great fit for an older couple or individual that has the time to spend with him. With training classes this will be an exceptional dog! He already knows commands...he'll give both paws to hi-5, sits and lies down. It's obvious that someone has worked with and really loved Bamboo. Like most Lab/Shepherd mixes, Bamboo is extremely loyal and loves his family more than anything! He has been very loving and sweet towards me but also wants to protect me if he senses any danger. On walks, Bamboo is completely leash-trained and doesn't pull at all..again a definite sign that someone worked with him in a positive way. Bamboo is a world-class hiker, and if you're seeking a best friend, Bamboo will be overjoyed to accept the job! When at home, even if he's alone while I'm at work, Bamboo keeps to his bed and plays with his own toys. He never destroys shoes, clothing items or anything at all. Bamboo doesn't jump on the counter or beg for food (this makes him very easy to spend time with). He's an extremely smart dog that would be a dream come true for a quiet family that doesn't frequently have lots of people coming and going. Like most Lab/Shepherd mixes, Bamboo is extremely loyal and loving to his loved ones. I would advise against adopting Bamboo out to a family with young kids or a cat, as he seems uncomfortable with both. He's also not a party guy...definitely more comfortable in a quiet, uncomplicated environment. If an adopter likes having lots of people over, that would be stressful for Bamboo. He could be fine with an older, like-sized dog but doesn't seem to be comfortable with the more frenetic energy of smaller dogs. Bamboo tends to protect his loved ones (again, very typical of a bonded Shep)...a positive reinforcement trainer can give advice to teach Bamboo skills around this. It is Bamboo's love affair with life and the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put him through Heartworm treatments..Bamboo's precious life deserves to be saved! Bamboo has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Bamboo as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special guy as he becomes healthily heartworm-free. Bamboo is in a foster home in the Denver area. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our adoption application and submit. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-04-19-00136Breeze (male)

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that blue-eyed (and brown-eyed) Breeze the Wheaten Terrier/Long Haired Dachshund mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In these photos you're not aware of the striking golden and beige colors that run through his gorgeous non-shedding or very lightly shedding coat (it's difficult to tell for certain at this point due to sad shelter hair) - with a commitment to periodic grooming, tender loving care and great nutrition, Breeze's coat will be healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Everything is new to Breeze...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a ... (Read More)loving touch. And then, before you know it, Breeze is cuddling close sharing the love and sweetness that lives inside of this amazing dog. Breeze was turned into a Texas shelter by his guardian to be euthanized. He apparently had been hit by a car and his family didn't have the means or desire to help. As Breeze was being processed into the shelter, he caught the eye of the shelter director...he's a stunning dog that radiates warmth and positive energy (even in great pain from his injuries). She crouched down to say hello and was brought to tears as Breeze dragged his injured body over to give and get love. She knew at that moment that she would put every effort into his safety. She whispered in his ear - your name for your new life is Breeze because one day you'll run again..just like the Breeze. Farfel's Rescue has submitted Breeze's measurements to Eddie's Wheels in Massachusetts where his custom wheelchair will be built to make the shelter director's promise a reality. This 12 - 18 month old, 17 lb Wheaten Terrier/Long Haired Terrier mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Breeze loves to spread his sweetness around. He is such a people dog...he loves kids but they definitely must be a bit older and very gentle to handle him kindly and with respect. We can envision Breeze with an active retired couple or individual.. or a younger family who want an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people and canine friends. Breeze has just received a brand new custom hiking wheel chair. Within minutes, he got the hang of his wheels and is now able to take on trails and paths just like a champ..keeping up with other dogs and his people is now so much easier for this young and able-bodied guy. Breeze would be overjoyed to accompany his family to dog-friendly spots..enjoying the sunshine and time together. Breeze can have just a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned. Breeze's basic nature is to be very joyful and positive.. and in just a moment, his silly and fun-loving personality takes over. While we've requested that Breeze be neutered/microchipped prior to his arrival in Denver, we're not optimistic that this will occur. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all charges for Breeze if our Denver vet is used. Breeze is currently in a foster home in the Denver area. If interested in this sweet and very loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Breeze, please be sure to submit our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 18-04-17-00132Miles (male)

Pug Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog. They're new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our New Mexico rescuer in saving Miles...she could see that he was a kind being that had been terribly mistreated and in so much pain. Miles was found as a stray on the streets of an impoverished area of new Mexico. As a Pug/Beagle mix (Puggle) Miles was a desirable dog to breed for puppies that they can sell or exchange for food. Often when it's time for these small-scale breeders to ... (Read More)move on, they dump their dogs. Miles may very well have been a victim of this behavior. When dogs are found on the streets by animal control officers (depending on the morality of the officer) they can be treated very aggressively..often with a catch pole. Sadly, Miles was found by an officer at the end of the day..and clearly at the end of the officer's ability to control himself. Miles was thrown against the side of the truck, resulting in a very painful crushed pelvis & femur head. Miles was then brought to the shelter and due to a complete lack of budget, was forced to endure his pain until he received surgery in Denver. UPDATE: Miles has had a very successful surgery and is completing his rehab period. Now out of pain, Miles is a very happy guy who is blossoming and becoming more active every day. He has so much love to give and has a very close and loving relationship with his foster. Miles is a beautiful Puggle (with a very sweet soul) that finally deserves the love and compassion that has been lacking in his short life. At 12 - 18 months old and just about 18 lbs, Miles will heal from his surgery and be an excellent choice for a family that desires a loyal and loving best friend. Farfel's is seeking a very nurturing and Pug-loving family to welcome Miles into their home and hearts. They will love and understand dogs well enough to offer Miles the time and space to heal (both physically and emotionally). Through this healing (and bonding) period, Miles will come to understand that he's a very lovable and respected guy with so much to offer a family (or individual). Miles will learn to trust and to understand that he has entered into a new period of his life...one of care and respect. Because he's a dog that desperately wants to trust and bond with a family, he will respond with loving loyalty to his treasured people. We're hoping to find a family for Miles that is searching for a full-time best friend. Together they will grow to be each other's trusted companion. Miles would be overjoyed with hiking along Colorado paths. At day's end, Miles is the guy that will cuddle on your lap or close on the couch/bed to show his loyalty and devotion. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include an awesome fuzzy companion in their activities. Miles can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere a well-behaved dog is welcome. Miles will be a gift to anyone who is seeking a really cute fuzzy guy as a best friend and family member. Positive reinforcement group training classes are a gift to a dog as well as their family. It's a true bonding experience that results in a respectful relationship where the dog views their human as their leader. Miles will learn his commands and behaviors that are necessary for a dog to be welcome out in the world. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force free) trainers in your area. Miles has the stunning beige coat (so soft that you just want to pet him all the time) that's consistent with his breeds. He will require a commitment to periodic sudsy baths and brushing combined with great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is so important for lifelong health and coat care) to keep Miles coat healthy and silky-soft. Miles won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this industrial area of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Miles neuter and microchip after his arrival in Denver if our local vet is used. Miles is in a foster home in the Denver area. We're currently accepting applications for this beautiful and very sweet best friend. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Miles, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases we're unable to get back without a completed app. (Less)
