Rescue Me ID: 18-02-21-00088Cosmo (male)

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Cosmo the Wheaten/Cairn Terrier mix wants to make clear is that he's a love and so very beautiful. In this photo, you're not aware of the striking golden streaks that run through his gorgeous coat - with grooming, care and great nutrition, Cosmo's coat will show its gorgeous colors . Everything is new to Cosmo...his little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Cosmo is in your lap or next to you on the couch. He's so happy there because his relationships are so important to him. This 2.5 year old, 19 lb Wheaten mix truly ... (Read More)lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Cosmo was identified by shelter personnel as a sweet and engaging guy who will be a gift to a family that loves dogs. The following notation was put on Cosmo's kennel card: Shelter personnel created a play group of smaller, well-behaved male dogs. They all interacted off leash in the outside runs and couldn't have been sweeter! Cosmo (a shelter favorite hands down!) held a loose swaying body, swaying high tail, open panting mouth, and able to play bow and run laps peacefully with the other dogs. When retrieved, Cosmo was happy and wiggly. He jumped up on me to seek affection and interacted in the sweetest possible way. Absolutely love this dog! He will be a gift to a family. Cosmo is such a people dog...he loves older kids (hasn't been tested with children under 10) but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Cosmo with an active retired couple or individual or a family with older kids who want an adorable and engaging dog as a family member and best companion. He will be a lap dog extraordinaire as well as a fun and playful guy who enjoys outdoor play and adventures. Cosmo will be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people. Being a Terrier mix, Cosmo is super-smart and loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. Cosmo would love the challenge of training and is so smart and wanting to please that he would excel. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Cosmo would also be overjoyed to hike along gorgeous Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. Cosmo can have just a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and won't be abandoned. His nature is to be very joyful and in moments his silly and fun nature takes over. Cosmo appears to be a non-shedding dog (although it's difficult to tell until his sad shelter coat grows out). He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Cosmo be neutered prior to his arrival in Colorado. Since Texas shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Cosmo's neuter and microchip after his arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Vets believe that Cosmo may have suffered trauma in his right eye. It doesn't appear to cause him any pain or problems but should be checked after he arrives in Colorado. When Cosmo goes in to be fixed, Farfel's will cover the cost for his eye to be checked and any medical help that's necessary. Cosmo will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 3/2/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Cosmo, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-02-21-00063Sammy (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Sammy's euthanasia time in a dismal New Mexico shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate NM rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Sammy was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer, shelter workers and Sammy's foster haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Sammy, at about 2.5 years old ... (Read More)and 8 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. Sammy is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a great walker (still learning his leash skills) with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on neighborhood paths and walkways. We envision Sammy in a family with dog-crazy and respectful, older kids with parents that either work from home, part-time or can bring Sammy along. Active retirees would also be great... they must enjoy spending their time with a comical and very loving and loyal best friend. Sammy will be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home with family members (on their lap would be great for this cuddly guy) would speak to the sweet nature of this dog. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with like-sized canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Sammy than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Sammy can be counted on to be a positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance pup whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. After passing his temperament testing and vetting with flying colors, Sammy is with his rescuer in New Mexico getting treats and belly rubs and being reminded of his house skills. She has described him as incredibly smart..and a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? She did also say that Sammy may need a bit of time after his very long transport to Colorado to be his happy, playful and very loving self. Sammy is in desperate need of a sudsy bath and a thorough grooming'|. he will emerge with an amazing, cottony-soft coat that will highlight his gorgeous coloring that speaks of his breed mix. Sammy is one of the most hypoallergenic breeds available today and will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy, super-soft and matt-free. Sammy is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however a rescue dog like Sammy often falls through the cracks in this very poor area with too many dogs and not enough vets to neuter/spay them. If this is the case, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Sammy to be neutered and microchipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Sammy will be arriving on transport in Denver in mid- February (we'll update exact date as soon as it's confirmed). Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Sammy, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-02-20-00051Gizmo (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Gizmo is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning silver streaks that run through his soft coat. Once he gets a sudsy bath and grooming ...Gizmo will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. At just about 2.5 years old (we'll update exact age after final vetting) and 9 lbs, Gizmo is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome... while being large enough to go on walks enjoying the sunshine with his family. Gizmo is every bit the young ... (Read More)guy...fun and active once comfortable in his surroundings. And at the same time he is happy and well-behaved. He's likely to express himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this point in Gizmo's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Gizmo to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Gizmo to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best dog he's capable of being. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. We also feel Gizmo would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older, dog-crazy kids where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Gizmo is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Gizmo becomes so loyal once comfortable in his family that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than being outdoors...trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Gizmo is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Gizmo has the beautiful coat and cottony-soft hair that speaks of his breed mix. Shih Tzus (with perhaps a touch of Poodle in the mix) have non-shedding coats that are often great for people with allergies. Gizmo will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be perfect) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. We're requested that Gizmo be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't...Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Gizmo's neuter and microchip if our Denver area vet is used. Gizmo is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/24/18 (or one week later depending on space). Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Gizmo, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 18-02-18-00192Josie (female)

Havanese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Josie could be that dream come true companion for a family with older kids or active retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet companion. The Havanese mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart, loving and loyal family dog companion. Josie's story is all too common in her close call to being euthanized in a scary New Mexico shelter. But who could ignore her sweet and loving manner and desire to bond with anyone who might be her new best friend. Josie's engaging and fun-loving nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated. She is such a wonderful being...we think she ... (Read More)represents the best qualities of the Havanese (with perhaps a bit of Yorkie in the mix). She may be initially shy or frightened.. but is in the process of leaving behind the challenges of her early life. At about 2 years old and 12 or so lbs (we'll update with exact weight/age as soon as we receive the information), Josie is a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would love to see Josie in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Josie would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. She doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Josie will do well with a loving guardian who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a hike in the mountains or a visit with friends. A car ride is always fun..especially if it leads to a fun spot. Josie would also be very happy to spend the afternoon just being together plopped down on the couch..or on her favorite person's lap - all of this would speak to Josie's gentle temperament and loving ways. Josie is a mixture of several non-shedding breeds and considered to be a combination of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available. It's difficult to see Josie's beauty in her photos as her coat has gone uncared for for a very long time. Josie is in desperate need of a sudsy bath and grooming..and she may require her coat to be shaved to give it a chance to grow out fresh and new. Once she receives her spa day, she will require an ongoing commitment to periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and soft as cotton. We've requested that Josie be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Josie's spay and microchip after her arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Josie will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/24/18. Rescue Me ID: 18-02-18-00074Timmy (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a Terrier gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are loving, super- smart and wonderful best friends. They tend to fit well into a family setting and make excellent companions for virtually every activity. Sometimes rescue dogs can initially be a bit shy....but place them in a home with an involved and very loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine! Timmy is one of these great dogs. He's a pleaser and is overjoyed when he gets praise for being a great dog. Timmy is just about 2.5 years old...such a great age - old enough to be acquiring adult ... (Read More)skills and is an easygoing and very loving guy to be around. Timmy weighs just about 25 lbs..a perfect weight for a couch companion while also being very capable to hike the amazing Colorado trails. As a very smart young guy, Timmy is a great student and just waiting for a forever family to teach him the wonders of his world. If he is trained with positive reinforcement (and great treats), given tons of kind attention and socialization with both humans and other dogs, he will turn into a self-confident guy who will be a wonderful companion. Timmy has all the elements working in his favor since he's starting out with a great temperament and a puppy-like desire to please. Farfel's would like to place Timmy in a home with either active retirees or a very involved family with older, dog-loving kids who are motivated to provide him with physical exercise and mental stimulation. Timmy would love being out in the sunshine walking the trails of Colorado, window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune his urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With love and consistency, Timmy will also be comfortable with being alone and know that his family will always return. He'll learn this with consistent behavioral boundaries and human leadership present in his life. Timmy appears to be a non-shedding guy (although very difficult to tell for certain until his sad shelter hair grows out) and will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (a salmon oil supplement will be a great addition to a healthy diet) to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Timmy will be up to date on his vetting. We're hoping that he will also be neutered when he arrives from New Mexico, however there are far too many dogs and too few vets to treat them in this industrial area of new Mexico. If Timmy doesn't get neutered or microchipped, Farfel's will cover all costs for him to be chipped and fixed at our vet in Denver after his arrival on transport. Timmy will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/24/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Timmy, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 18-02-18-00063Lucca (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Cairn Terrier/Shetland Sheepdog mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart, adorable and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their intelligence, devoted temperaments and extremely loving ways. Both are also known to be trustworthy and generally very kind and playful with humans and other dogs. Lucca is just a young guy and is learning about the ways of the world. He loves his neighborhood walks with his rescuer. Lucca is learning proper socialization skills - he's a very engaging and cuddly guy who draws a ton of loving attention and he eats it up! Any time a fun ... (Read More)adventure is the order of the day - count Lucca in! He's just a young guy who can't wait to engage joyfully and energetically.. and then crash on the couch snuggling close to favorite humans and canines. Lucca is as cute as can be and a very sweet guy who favors the look and loyalty of the Cairn Terrier while taking on the very intelligent and engaging qualities..as well as the body structure of the Sheltie. Lucca will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement for Lucca) to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Lucca's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Lucca is friendly (while perhaps initially shy) and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Lucca's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Lucca goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Lucca is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. At about 9 - 12 months old and just about 35 lbs, Lucca seems to be leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more Lucca shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Lucca in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he'd love to be involved and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Lucca would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. Lucca would be overjoyed to accompany his favorite people to the park, on neighborhood trails and even just riding shotgun running errands. Lucca doesn't require another dog to be happy.(as long as he gets both physical exercise and mental stimulation from his people). He does, however, enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Lucca is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however there are far too few vets in this impoverished area of the state. If Lucca isn't fixed, Farfel's will cover all costs for him to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Rescue Me ID: 18-02-18-00060Picasso (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When Picasso's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal New Mexico shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Picasso tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Westie/Maltese is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Picasso became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He has earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that holds every possibility for a great future. Caleb is 9 lbs and just about 2.5 years old (such a great age - young enough to have many, many active years ... (Read More)ahead but old enough to be past his puppy antics). Also the perfect size for walks/playing or lap sitting and cuddling. This very beautiful guy is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Picasso to a family that will spend lots of time with this very great companion. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience class is highly recommended for this little guy. It will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Picasso and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Now that Picasso is groomed and gorgeous, he gets lots of attention when he's out and about. He's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching..Westie/Maltese mixes are beautiful dogs that sadly are opportunistically bred to be sold for high prices or dumped if any challenges occur. Farfel's Rescue is happy to save these precious dogs and provide them with new and wonderful lives. When Picasso turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see just a bit of a sign that this guy has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative for long..a smile and a wag is more Picasso's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's is searching for an adult family for Picasso. It's not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Picasso is more comfortable and braver around adult energy. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Picasso, once bonded, will be a loyal and positive companion - this makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Picasso is a very happy dog once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Picasso's foster mom is very happy to report that he is coming out of his shell a bit more each day...Picasso is blossoming. She's very clear that Picasso will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Picasso is a truly beautiful guy who with hair care will grow out what appears to be a stunning, non-shedding coat. With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition...his cottony-soft hair will grow back with the beauty that speaks of his breed mix. Picasso is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however there are far too few vets in this impoverished area of the state. If Picasso isn't fixed, Farfel's will cover all costs for him to be neutered and microchipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Rescue Me ID: 18-02-11-00081Georgia-PENDING! (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Georgia the Labrador Retriever/Beagle mix wants to make clear is that she's a love. In these photos, you're not aware of the golden shades that run through her gorgeous coat. It is with baths/brushing, care and great nutrition that Georgia's 's coat will show its gorgeous color and cottony-soft hair that speaks of her breed mix. Her foster home (with so much love and caring) is new to Georgia...her nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, she is next to you on the couch. She's so happy there because her human relationships are so ... (Read More)important to her. We have to remember that Georgia came from a very tough and challenging shelter. This 18 - 24 month old, 35 lb (such a perfect medium size) Lab/Beagle mix truly lights up whens she feels likes she's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send her over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Georgia has mastered her house skills. She's completely house trained, crate trained and always respectful of her home. The Lab/Beagle mix is a new and very popular breed mix called a Beagador. They're recognized for their great temperaments (excellent family dogs!), loyalty and the love that they bring to a home. They're also perfect for a family that loves Labs, but desires the smaller size of a Beagador. Georgia 's foster mom has the following to say about this sweet pup: Georgia is doing great. She's still a young pup and just needs patience and love...and she blossoms. I sit with her and we talk about what a wonderful girl she is and what a great future she has to look forward to...I'm not kidding that I think she understands! Georgia is so kind and cuddly... belly rubs and treats also are a gift to this sweet dog who has never had this kind of nurturing. It's important to note that Georgia was removed from the shelter environment (due to her great temperament with all humans..she loves kids!)) and put in a foster home. She was given the recognition to be trusted to be with kids...playing games and providing therapeutic hugs. She would be excellent in a home with a bit older, active children who desire a full-time best friend. Georgia is still learning about interacting with other dogs. Because she's so great with all humans and completely enjoys children, her foster mom (who doesn't have another dog) didn't initially realize that Georgia is a bit challenged by some other dogs. She gets so excited to see them that she needs guidance on moving along. A 6-week training class with a positive reinforcement trainer (that's so important for all dogs) will teach Georgia the skills to watch the cues of her person rather than playing with other dogs. Farfel's provides a list of force-free trainers in your area. Georgia's foster wanted to share the following with us: I've had the most amazing time hiking in the New Mexico mountains with Georgia. You can see the joy on her beautiful face as we climb hills and cross streams. We're waiting for a good snowfall so Georgia and my kids can snowshoe and have a serious snowball fight. She's such a sweet soul that is overjoyed with the turn her life has taken. Georgia lives to play and love her family (and their friends)...in my case I have 2 kids 12 and 14 (and their friends that love to come over to play in the yard with Georgia). My kids would love to keep Georgia (but we've voted to keep fostering)...she's a wonderful best friend that plays hard with them and then at day's end lies on their feet while they do their homework. Other than her drive to play with other dogs, I actually think Georgia is level-headed for a young dog that hasn't had the benefit of training classes. She loves to play, run and is learning about the beginning of different types of ball play...but then loves to cuddle equally. I never have to worry about damage to my home..Georgia is always respectful and would never consider having an accident or chewing on things that don't belong to her. Her temperament is really developing! I just have to walk into the room and glance at her...it's head to toe waggy tail and huge smile (now that she knows me better). She is such a sweet puppy who will be just about perfect after a training class. Anyone who welcomes Georgia into their home is truly getting a gem of a dog! Georgia is currently in a foster home in the Denver area. If interested in this fun-loving, sweet and very devoted young girl, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730 **PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Georgia, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving girl. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Schnauzer or Poodle (Schnoodle) mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are loving, super-smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household and often make great companions for all age groups. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Rosie is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she ... (Read More)becomes a best friend and the greatest lap/couch dog ever. Rosie's path has been very challenging. She was found in a hoarding situation with 40 other dogs (sometimes being a very desirable breed leads to this hoarding for opportunistic breeding purposes). All were living in a mud pit without appropriate food, water or shelter. The dogs were saved and Rosie was adopted out to a single dad that she bonded with and loved. Sadly, the unhappy ending is that Rosie's dad passed away very suddenly with no known relatives and Rosie was transferred by animal control to a high-kill shelter that very quickly runs out of space. Rosie's sweet spirit is meant to be...she was rescued yet again by her original foster who was so thrilled to be reunited with her beloved girl. Farfel's Rescue was contacted with the bittersweet story of Rosie and we immediately invited her to join our rescue. Rosie is such a great age and size... at just about 2.5 years old (such a great age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life yet old enough to have left her babyish behavior behind) and weighs 20 lbs...perfect size to accompany her family on Colorado trails and just about anywhere a sweet dog is welcome. Rosie is lucky enough to have inherited the superior intelligence of the Poodle along with the curiosity of the fun-loving Schnauzer. She is so excited and attentive when her people teach her the wonders of her world. If Rosie attends positive reinforcement group training classes and given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs, she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful companion. Rosie has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. We'd like to place Rosie in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Rosie would also enjoy the company of a fun and respectful canine...she would love the playtime and companionship. Rosie will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside of this beautiful Schnauzer mix. Rosie will love the trails and paths of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy long walks through the mountains). Window-shopping would also be great to fine-tune her urban skills and provide the socialization that is so important in the development of a dog's abilities. With feelings of security within the family, Rosie will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return. Rosie has the potential for a gorgeous, non-shedding silver coat. As is evident in this photo (sorry that it's blurry..we'll update with a new picture as soon as we receive it), Rosie's coat has been sadly ignored. She will require a commitment to TLC.. periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her hair healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Rosie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/16/18 . Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Rosie, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 18-02-09-00075Eva (female)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Eva is a dignified older lady who, In her senior years, lost her dad very suddenly.. and the only love and security she'd ever known. The day came, after her dad's home was emptied, that it was time for Eva to leave. The only choice that seemed possible was the local shelter. Her dad's family, in their grief, didn't realize that the town's facility was a very high-kill shelter. Luck was on Eva's side that sad day...our compassionate rescuer was in the shelter lobby and had the pleasure of meeting Eva as she arrived. The decision took seconds...after she held Eva close and Eva snuggled into her with so much love and trust, our rescuer knew ... (Read More)this sweet girl was coming home with her. Farfel's was contacted hours later and we happily accepted Eva into Farfel's Rescue. Eva, at 38 lbs (such a perfect medium sized girl) and approximately 10 - 11 years old has many healthy years left to be a full-time best friend. (Schnauzer mixes often live to a very ripe old age). Eva would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that very sweet best friend. She will be by your side to hug and love on..a kind and loving spirit to hold close when the challenges of the world seem overwhelming. But Eva is a low-maintenance girl who also has the ability to keep herself busy (or take a nap) while her family is involved in other things. After spending time with Eva, her Texas foster is positive that this beautiful girl's dad loved her very much as she's well-adjusted with high self-esteem. She had the following to say about sweet Eva: Eva is such a sweet, very smart and wonderful girl! My whole family loves her so much already. Eva enjoys both large and small dogs as well as cats. She loves gentle kids...my neighbor's children who are 9 and 14 fell in love with her and she with them! They had so much fun asking Eva for commands...she sits, shakes and rolls over %81 She loves treats and is a natural born performer! Eva is completely house trained and runs straight to the door to be let out when I get home from work. She loves to play (in a very positive way) with all my dogs. They go into the yard and play like crazy and then the best part ever...Eva lies close beside me on the couch with her beautiful head draped over my leg. Eva sleeps in her crate all night without making a sound. What can I say...we've fallen in love with this amazing dog! Someone is going to get so lucky if they adopt this gem! Eva may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog...but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Eva with either retirees (she would be overjoyed with time spent and being at the center of a loving family) or a younger family who works at home or would be able to take Eva to a dog-friendly workplace. A mellow canine friend would be great for Eva as well. She would enjoy the companionship and cuddle times with her new doggie sibling. For those family members who enjoy neighborhood walks and time outside, Eva would love nothing more than to share the experience. Her foster loves daily walks to socialize with neighbors and Eva always comes along. She is very happy for these daily outings, fascinated by the activity around her. Eva breathes in the air...so happy to be out and about. And then, maybe her favorite part, it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed close beside her beloved family members. As a Schnauzer/Papillon mix, Eva appears to be a non-shedding girl...although it's difficult to tell for certain until her uncared for coat grows out. With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition, her coat will grow in healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Eva will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/16/18. Cavalier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Kona is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning chestnut and golden coloring that run through his soft coat. Once he gets a sudsy bath and brushing ...Kona will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. Kona has been through so much in his short life. When he was found in the night drop-box at a high-kill Texas shelter, it was clear that he had been side-swiped by a car. He had road burn on his belly and a back leg that he was favoring...this sweet, tiny guy was lucky to be alive! ... (Read More) Rescued Pets Movement (our amazing rescuers in Texas that make our saving these precious lives possible) was aware of the sweetness of this guy. They immediately contacted Farfel's and made arrangements for Kona to be seen by a vet (we'll update with this information as soon as available) Farfel's is happy to cover any costs necessary to repair Kona's injury if our Denver vet is used. At just about 3.5 years old and 7 lbs, Kona is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet smaller dog is welcome. He's such a perfect age...old enough to have left his puppyish behaviors behind and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years remaining. Kona is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a happy and well-behaved pup once he's used to his environment. Kona is a very expressive dog with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this point in Kona's development, he loves almost everyone once he's comfortable. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Kona to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Kona to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes to be the very best dog he's capable of being. (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area). We also feel Kona would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older, dog-loving children where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Kona is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Kona is loyal once bonded and that means he can be a constant companion. He would love nothing more than being outdoors...trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Kona is flexible enough that he can be introduced to most situations...and if there is love and gentle guidance, he can succeed. Kona has the beautiful coat and cottony-soft hair that speaks of the Cavalier King Charles. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Kona is arriving on transport in Boulder in mid February (date will be updated as soon as finalized). Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Kona, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Violet were her gorgeous eyes in the dim high-kill shelter light. Violet's eyes are amazing...so wise giving a beauty to her face that caught the attention of her rescuer. Our rescuer stared at Violet for a bit (while Vi gently and so sweetly touched her hand with her nose) and she saw all the wonderful possibilities in this very beautiful Australian Shepherd mix. Violet appears to be an Aussie/Border Collie mix.. but we'd never swear to it. All we know is that she's a gorgeous, cuddly, super-intelligent and very loving girl. Violet immediately makes it clear that she's a LOVE! Her adorable ... (Read More)face seems to smile when she gets loving attention and kind strokes...and then a wag of joy and her beautiful head is in your lap. Violet was brought out of her cage.. and before you know it, she was gently loving up our rescuer. Violet was immediately so joyful and clearly delighted with the turn her life had just taken! Farfel's Rescue acknowledged the great temperament of this wonderful dog and tagged her to come on transport to Colorado and a new life. She was removed from the shelter and began her education in a foster home that fell in love with her sweetness and engaging personality on the very first day. This 2 year old, 59 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when she feels like she's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send her over the moon. Violet wants desperately to be a family girl...she would have the time of her life in an active home with older, dog-crazy kids and a gentle and fun canine best friend. We feel that Violet would do very well with either active retirees who enjoy getting out on a long hike or even a run to fulfill the exercise and mental needs of Vi's silly and fun personality. A dog-loving younger family with kids would also be a great fit for Violet. She loves people of all ages and shows her devotion in very positive ways. Once Violet's exercise needs have been met...she's an all-time smuggler. She'd love nothing more at the end of the day than to cuddle up on the couch (or bed) with her favorite people and show her loving devotion. Violet would be so excited to spend her days in the company of her people. We wouldn't want her to be left alone for long hours waiting for her family to arrive home in the evening.. 4 or so hours at a time are fine..but an entire day is just too long for an active and sensitive dog. Violet has a stunning coat with the most stunning brindle and purest of white hair. Her coat appears to have been ignored in her earlier life. To bring it back to the gorgeous coat that speaks of her breed mix, Violet will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat cottony- soft and matt free. Violet won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Violet's spay and microchip immediately after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Violet's breed mix (Aussie Shepherd and Border Collie) are known to be two of the most intelligent breeds available today. With this being the case, Farfel's feels strongly that Violet attends positive reinforcement group obedience classes. A level 1 class lasts 6 or 8 weeks, meets once each week and requires 10 - 15 minutes of practice each day. This is a minor time requirement to attain profound results. With this training under her belt, Violet will be able to accompany her people out in the world with excellent behavior. Violet will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/10/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this sweet, very loyal and cuddly best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Violet, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving girl. Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Cole is a Labrador Retriever/Cattle Dog mix...this breed mix is becoming more and more popular due to their smaller size (32 - 40 lbs is common), super intelligence and very shiny and cottony-soft coats. They are found to be great family members making very loyal companion dogs to older kids and adults. Their very sweet and fun-loving nature knows no bounds. Cole, at only about 14 weeks old and approximately 15 lbs ... (Read More)(estimated to be full grown at about 35 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Cole just in time. This sweet, engaging and silly guy has been touching hearts ever since. Cole's rescuer had the following to say about this beautiful puppy: Cole is a gorgeous smaller Lab/Cattle Dog mix with the softest coat I've ever felt! He is an exceptional puppy...so smart and friendly but will need a bit of time after all he's been through to feel secure in his new situation. Cole doesn't have an ounce of aggression in his entire body and therefore is great with people and other dogs (untested with cats). He would be wonderful with a family who desires a playful and very engaging dog who is super sweet and can accompany them anywhere due to his great temperament and perfect size. Cole is an incredibly beautiful puppy...with truly striking blue-black hair with the cutest polka- dot chest and feet. He is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. This guy is so smart and very engaging...so typical of this breed mix that is growing in popularity. Cole has such a loving heart once comfortable that there's no way you won't fall in love. Since Cole is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - he will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with excellent behavior. We'd like Cole to find his forever home with an active retired couple or individual with lots of time and energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Cole is great with children at his early age and would be an exceptional companion for older kids that would like a best friend to accompany them on fun adventures. Cole will be up to date on his vetting. We're hoping that he will also be neutered when he arrives from New Mexico, however a very young puppy like Cole is often deemed too young to be fixed. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Cole to be neutered/microchipped at our vet in Denver after his arrival on transport. Cole is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/3/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. This tiny sweetheart (with no medical challenges) is just so awesome with lots of life left (these smaller breed mixes, with great nutrition and lots of love can live to ripe old ages) ...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family. The shelter vet identified Skye as a 7 month old, 40 lb (anticipated to be approximately 45 lbs when full-grown) Labrador Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog mix. We can't absolutely commit to Skye being this exact breed mix, but we can commit to him being a very sweet, lovable and cuddly guy. Skye's sad story is all too common in a scary, high-kill Texas shelter..but who could ignore Skye's beautiful face with the dark eyes that hold so much wisdom. He also has an adorable, friendly manner and a desire to bond with anyone who is kind and shows him the love and respect he hasn't had in his life. Skye will then be a loyal and devoted best friend and before you know it... he's gently loving you with a wag and a hug. The awesome Texas rescuer recognized all of this and knew that she had to save Skye's life. She contacted us at Farfel's Rescue describing what a sweet, kind and engaging guy Skye is...and her hope to send him on transport to a new life in Colorado. She had absolutely no doubt that there was a home out there that would love, nurture and want to make this wonderful guy a permanent member of their dog-crazy family. Skye's beautiful pure white coat currently looks shelter tired. He will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be perfect) to keep his coat cottony-soft and very healthy. Skye is so pleasant and friendly that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a fun hike, a visit with dog-loving friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Skye's nature. We aren't open to a home for Skye where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Skye to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle Skye will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/2/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this very sweet and loving best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Skye, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)
