Rescue Me ID: 17-01-22-00102Daisy (female)

Tibetan Spaniel Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Daisy was fearful as she came into a very high-kill shelter in New Mexico. She's a sensitive girl...and through it all she seemed like an old soul as she took it all in. She was never nasty or snippy..just initially fearful of new people who might hurt her. She soon found out otherwise and has spent part of her shelter time in the arms of shelter personnel...needless to say that she's a favorite. It just isn't in her nature to be anything but sweet once she feels comfortable. Daisy, at approximately 18 - 24 months old and 18 lbs, represents the sad irresponsibility that is so present when pet guardians choose not to spay/neuter...they're ... (Read More)homeless and confused. These unwanted dogs deserve a great life every bit as much as any other living being. Daisy has a wonderful disposition and through it all, still has the desire to love and be loved. While initially shy..she comes around with those who are kind and respectful. She loves to snuggle and show her devotion in so many ways. Daisy enjoys her relationships with gentle dogs as well...it seems that she derives confidence from being around these positive-energy pups. Daisy tries very hard to show that she's worthy of a permanent family to love and nurture her. Her little tail wags hesitantly when she sees a possibility for a pat or any kind gesture. She would be overjoyed..after gathering her confidence.. if she got gentle attention. It would bring a light to those concerned eyes! Farfel's is searching for that special family for this exceptional Spaniel/Sheltie mix (or at least that's what the Kansas vets tell us..all we know is that she's so adorable!). Once Daisy gets a spa treatment for the first time..there won't be a more beautiful girl around. Her stunning red coat will frame the kind glow in her eyes that speak of a gentle soul. We're seeking a family that wants to spend quality time with this exceptional girl. She would learn from the gentle guidance and time put in of people who love her...she'll return that devotion a million times over once she understands that she can trust. We feel that Daisy would enjoy a retired couple (or individual) or a family with older dog-crazy children who will be gentle and loving toward the this sweet girl. A positive reinforcement training class would also be great for bonding between Daisy and her people. It's a new world for this sensitive dog and she'll be so successful with the knowledge that she is loved and chosen to be a member of a very special family. Daisy will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. Farfel's has requested that Daisy be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Daisy's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Daisy will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 1/28/17. If interested in this beautiful and sweet...and often very entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-19-00129River (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When River's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Kansas shelter, she was shocked to see the beautiful (and extremely dirty and matted) River tucked tightly into a cage...at just 9 - 12 months old and about 35 lbs (anticipated to be full-grown at about 40 lbs) his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this guy is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. River gets lots of attention when he's out and ... (Read More)about...he's engaging (while shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching. River was identified by one vet to be a Lab/Poodle mix.. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and very sweet scruffy guy that's irresistible! When River turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. Sometimes you can see a bit of a sign that this young guy has had difficult times. The following is the report by River's rescuers: River is a very special boy who is a shining example of the resilience and sweetness of the dog's basic nature. After his vet exam, it was determined that River had been bashed in the head, causing a shattered skull on the top right part of his head. It's been confirmed by veterinarians that it has completely healed. Due to this horrifying cruelty, River runs just a bit funny (has no affect on his ability to hike, play and love). Our vet thinks his gait irregularity is due to that previous trauma. He is also just a bit nervous upon first meeting a new person (many dogs are)... but warms up almost immediately. River has been confirmed by our vet to be completely healthy in every was. He has tons of love to give if given the chance to do so. He is great and extremely loving (a big lap dog once comfortable) with all humans, dogs, cats, and kids. River will be a gift to any family. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an active and very loving family for River. He would fit in well with many different types of families. An active retired couple or individual would be great for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. River would also enjoy a family with dog-crazy kids. He would love the play time and energy of children who want their dog as a full-time best friend. Once bonded, River will be a loyal and very loving companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. River would also enjoy time with friendly dogs who can be gentle and fun playmates. River is also respectful and accepting of cats. River will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. Farfel's has requested that River be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for River's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. River will be transported to Boulder on Tuesday 1/24/17. If interested in this very loving and devoted best friend please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00499Dove (male)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dove was just recently rescued from a high-kill New Mexico shelter. This very sweet guy passed his vetting and behavioral testing with flying colors and earned his ticket to a great new life in Colorado. Farfel's Rescue is very excited to welcome Dove and start the search for a loving and committed forever home. Our adorable Dove is just about 18 - 24 months old and 13 lbs....and could not be sweeter. He appears to be a Cavalier King Charles mix...but there could be a little something additional in there. If so, our guess is some type of Spaniel. Which ever is the case..he couldn't possibly be any cuter! Dove is the perfect companion ... (Read More)for anyone searching for a very devoted dog who loves to spend his time either on his person's lap, taking a walk on beautiful Colorado paths or on the couch engaging in a serious belly rub session. Dove doesn't require extensive exercise but does enjoy walks, hikes, playing and cuddling with those he loves. He's also a very portable guy at just about 13 lbs and would love nothing more than a car or plane ride (in the cabin only please) to any destination. His behavior and temperament are great but it's important that's he's given the time to bond and trust...it also helps that he's the most adorable guy around! We envision Dove in a home with a retired individual or couple who enjoy spending lots of quality time with an entertaining lap dog. Dove is often the center of attention just because he's so cute and engaging...and very funny as well! He's at that perfect age that is just getting beyond babyish antics and is now developing into just a great companion with more adult skills. Dove would benefit and learn great socialization skills from positive reinforcement group training class...it would also cement his relationship with his family. Dove also enjoys the company of other gentle, like-sized dogs... but can be very happy as the one and only. He's a wonderful companion....just a kind word, petting, kisses, treats and a place next to (or on) the bed would be a dream come true for this little guy. Dove will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. We've requested that he be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Dove's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Dove will be transported to Boulder on Saturday 1/21/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00439Reno (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Reno could be that dream come true companion for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. There's no question that Reno would also do well with gentle older kids who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Reno's family not because he doesn't like young (and gentle) kids...he really does. But because Reno is only 9 lbs and about 8 or so years old, we want to make certain he's handled very gently. Reno does love playing (once he's comfortable) and is entertaining in his silly antics, positive energy and the love he wants to show to everyone he ... (Read More)knows well. Reno's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary New Mexico shelter....but who could ignore his adorable face and sweet manner? Reno is initially fearful but give him just a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome NM rescuers recognized all of this in Reno and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. It's terribly sad to understand that these dogs were used as a means to an end. Their purpose was to create revenue through puppies and then be thrown away if inconvenient. Reno was recognized for the gifts and love he can bring to a committed family. Reno would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Reno's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Reno to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Reno's potentially beautiful coat has been sadly ignored..but with time, great nutrition and grooming, it will once again be the gorgeous coat that speaks of his breed mix. Reno requires a committment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Reno will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. We've requested that Reno be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for his neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Reno will be transported to Boulder on Saturday 1/21/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00425Noah (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Westie/Maltese mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for a very smart, beautiful and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their silly and entertaining temperaments and very loving and snuggly ways. Terrier breeds (even tiny guys) require a certain amount of exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to run joyfully along Colorado paths ...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite people. Noah is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy who favors the intellect of the Westie while ... (Read More)taking on the very engaging qualities of the Maltese. Noah appears to be a non-shedding (or perhaps very lightly shedding) pup and will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and cottony-soft. As he loses the old hair of his shelter days, Noah's coat will grow in silky, healthy.. and less likely to shed. Noah's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. Noah is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Noah's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if a spot on the couch is available, up Noah goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Noah is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terrier breeds. At about 18 - 24 months old and just about 10 lbs, he seems to be leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. Noah is becoming a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Noah in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's social and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Noah would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young lap dog. Noah doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle smaller dogs. Noah will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. We've requested that Noah be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Noah's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Noah will be transported to Boulder on Saturday 1/21/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00398Sherlock (male)

Basenji    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When a shelter volunteer first met Sherlock, she was struck first by his cuteness...how could you not be? His curious and very affectionate personality (so typical of a happy and well-socialized guy) became the entertainment of the day...so funny and cute that you just had to periodically hug him. We were all very glad that he wouldn't remember the terrible challenges of his younger days...Code Red at a dreary shelter. As hope seemed to fade away for Sherlock, Farfel's got a message that he was very urgent. Through the love and immediate action of rescuers in New Mexico, Sherlock was saved at the very last second. From that minute ... (Read More)forth, he has been nothing but a delight! He's learning so quickly and understanding that the world can be a very positive place. Sherlock has been identified as a purebred Basenji. We can't guarantee that this is the case but we can't really see another breed in this very beautiful guy. Sherlock currently weighs 39 lbs and is approximately 9 - 12 months old. We are searching for a very loving, dog-crazy home for this exceptional guy. As he learns his skills in a positive and respectful environment, Sherlock will develop a very strong bond with his family. We would also like a situation where his people are present...it can be a retired couple or individual who has the energy and patience for a young guy. Or a family with children that choose to include their pet in their daily lives would be great. Sherlock is a great candidate for positive reinforcement group training class...this will mold him into a great and bonded adult companion. Sherlock will learn skills through training that promote good behavior and peaceful relationships with humans and dogs. It's also important that Sherlock is given mental stimulation and lots of exercise. It's never too early to start teaching leash manners on the incredible trails of Colorado....this will develop Sherlock into a fit and happy companion. We've requested that Sherlock be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Sherlock's neutering and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Sherlock currently has a shelter coat..but with great nutrition and periodic baths/brushing, it will become the gorgeous and cottony-soft coat of the adult Basenji. Sherlock will arrive on transport in Denver on Saturday 1/21/17. If interested in this fun-loving and very sweet best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-11-00283Aiden (male)

Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Aiden, at just 11 weeks old and 3.5 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 25 - 30 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy with a great temperament..they rescued Aiden just in time. Aiden is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ... (Read More)ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous chocolate-colored coat with shades of beige. Aiden is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart and engaging...very typical of the cross of a Australian Shepherd and a Border Collie. Aiden is bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Aiden is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Aiden will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with great behavior. We're open to Aiden finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Aiden loves children as well...we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in play and fun. Kids can also be a part of a training regimen that's so important in a puppy's great future behavior. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-10-00026Hank-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hank is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a lick. At 4 - 5 years old and 19 lbs (such a perfect age and size - old enough to have great manners but young enough to have many, many years to come along with his family on great adventures). Hank is every bit the engaging guy...fun and active....but at the same time he is a very well-behaved pup who is not unnecessarily vocal - he expresses himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses. Hank's Texas foster mom had the following to say about this very sweet guy: Hank Williams, Jr (or Hank to us) is 4 - 5 yrs old and 19 lbs. While ... (Read More)Hank has never been around very small children, he's such a sweet-tempered and lovely dog, I know he would be awesome with children. There couldn't be a better choice of dogs to teach a young child the wonders of a doggy best friend. Hank is patient, kind and very loyal to his family. It took no time at all for my entire family to fall in love with sweet 'Hankie'. Hank is both house and crate trained. He's very clean about himself and very respectful of his home. Hank is currently living with my dog who is the same size as himself. They're great together and have a blast. Both have a ton of fun with cats..never hurting them but enjoying the fun of the chase. Hank is filled with positive energy and is a true lover of life. He loves to jog with his person, go on long walks, car rides (so much fun for Hank!), playing catch (sometimes he gets so excited that he forgets to bring the ball back), and at the end of the day sleeping with his owner is nirvana for dear Hankie. He does need a bit of work with carrying out commands but seems to understand everything you say to him. Hank has made so much progress, it's clear that he's super-smart and loves to please those that are close to him. At this early point in Hank's development, he loves everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Hank to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like him to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best dog he's capable of being. Right now, Hank is a virtually blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved guy around. Hank is a lightly-shedding guy and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and a commitment to great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and shiny. Hank will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 1/13/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this sweet and silly Terrier, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Animal ID: Ravi-ADOPTION PENDING  (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Ravi were his very wise..and very frightened eyes in the dim high-kill shelter light. She stared at Ravi for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this Westie/Cairn Terrier mix. This photo definitely doesn't do this exceptional guy justice! A spa day is in order - underneath the deep matts and shelter dust is an exceptional Terrier waiting to emerge. Ravi immediately makes it clear that he desperately wants to love and trust. But the overwhelming shelter environment makes it difficult for a young guy who's had some scary experiences. Farfel's Rescue was happy to speak up for ... (Read More)Ravi as we also saw every possibility in this sweet guy. He was immediately removed from the shelter and taken to a loving and nurturing foster home. After a day or two of calm and kind words, Ravi became ready to experience his world. He's doing great and we'll attach his new foster report and photos as soon as we receive them. Ravi was clearly delighted with the turn his life had just taken! This 9 - 12 month old, 11 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job. With Ravi's continued acceptance of the love (and belly rubs) his foster is sharing with him, he's coming to understand that he's a very special guy. We feel that Ravi would do very well with either active retirees who enjoy loving on a young guy who's had far too little of that in his life. Getting out on a long walk to fulfill Ravi's exercise needs would speak to Ravi's Terrier personality. A dog-crazy younger family with older kids would also be a fit for Ravi. Once his exercise needs have been met...he's will become an all-time smuggler. He'd love nothing more at the end of the day than to cuddle up and show his devotion. Ravi would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people. We wouldn't want him to be left alone for long hours waiting for his family to arrive home in the evening.. a few hours at a time are fine..but an entire day is just too long for an active and sensitive pup. Ravi is a non-shedding (or lightly shedding) guy with a coat that will need baths and brushing. His new family must commit to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep Ravi's coat healthy and matt-free. Ravi will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 1/13/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this sweet and silly Terrier, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-02-00202Pippin-PENDING! (female)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Pippin is a very beautiful purebred miniature Australian Shepherd. She is so sweet in temperament, kind and wanting to please...always trying so hard to be just like the other dogs. Pippin gets along so well because she's been deaf from birth and has no idea what a hearing life would be like. It was our pleasure to save the precious life of this special pup! You can imagine the confusion for Pippin of being in a chaotic shelter when you're deaf and unclear as to what has brought you to such a scary environment! Pippin is the victim of a breeding program that is completely uncaring of the best interests of the puppies they're ... (Read More)producing. Miniature Aussies are extremely popular and therefore bred for the dollars that they bring in. One thing we know for sure is that 18 - 24 month old, 13 lb Pippin is so sweet and so wanting to please that she will bring a gift to a special family. Sometimes she gets frightened if she is unaware that someone is approaching her...with love and understanding, Pippin will continue to acclimate to a non-hearing life. There are wonderful training programs that target deaf dogs by using hand signals and special techniques geared specifically to these wonderful and wise dog's challenges. They can bring great insight to their families as they observe the resilience and positive attitudes that these dogs possess. Once Farfel's spoke up for her, Pippin was brought to be temperament tested and vetted (she passed both with flying colors!) and then on to the home of her rescuer to be gently reminded of house skills and to be loved on and socialized in a positive way. Pippin has blossomed ...loving every second with her rescuer's family. The following is the latest report on our wonderful Pippin -- My family has had a great time enjoying the positive energy and resilience of this gorgeous dog! She has quickly become my partner and dear friend. One of the best parts about being out and about with Pippin is her engaging approach to everyone..as long as she realizes that you've arrived. I don't need to be stressed in any way when another dog or children walk toward us ...she's kind with everyone and learning that I have her back and would never let harm come to her. I often forget that Pippin is deaf...after a bit of time with me, she has come to behave just like all my other dogs. I find myself using hand signals with Pippin and she seems to be learning more each day. I also touch and pet her more as a guide to what I'm asking of her. I've grown very attached to Pippin...most likely her deafness plays a role...but really she's just an absolutely incredible companion for my entire family. When everyone is at home at the end of the day...Pippin is Snuggler #1! She's so happy to lie quietly at our feet or better yet..tucked between the humans on the couch. Pippin is meant to be a full-time lover with a family who enjoys her calm and very loyal demeanor. We're all so excited that Pippin is headed to Colorado..her joy at wandering the beautiful trails with her favorite humans will know no bounds! The family who is lucky enough to have Pippin join their family forever is truly getting a gem. I feel like I can say with honesty that there are few better than Pippin! We've requested that Pippin be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Pippin's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Pippin will be transported to Boulder on Thursday 12/14/17. If interested in a devoted best friend and love bug , please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-02-00138Tulip (female)

Havanese Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Blind

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful Havanese/Scottish Terrier in a high-kill Texas shelter. (we're just guessing on Tulip's breeds based on the Texas vet's guess.. whatever the mix..it's great!) A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Tulip's life and nursed her body and spirit back to joy and well-being. Tulip was identified by shelter personnel as a very loving and sweet dog with a smile on her face all the time! She loves treats, belly rubs, kindness..and lots of loving. Tulip will make a great best friend to anyone who has the time and desire for a kind and very loyal lap dog. Tulip has exactly the appropriate amount of energy ... (Read More)for a 7 - 8 year old, 11 lb healthy pup and the perfect size and age to be a great family companion. She is beyond babyish ways yet young enough for long walks and time spent together enjoying fun activities. Tulip would do well with a family who is home a lot..she would be overjoyed to be a full-time, devoted companion. At days end, Tulip would enjoy nothing more than to chill on the couch, be loved up, and never gets overly grumpy about much of anything. She loves other dogs of all sizes.. and we'd be very surprised if she didn't love cats too. Tulip is a truly smart girl..she has already learned new things about home life since being rescued. Tulip appears to have the silly and very friendly traits of the Scottie Dog while also carrying the lap-loving and more dignified qualities of the Havanese. What a gem of a best friend for a family who wants to include a very cute and sweet dog in their lives. It is Tulip's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivated us to rescue her and seek to provide her with a great new life in Colorado. Tulip has recently become blind due to bilateral cataracts. While she's doing great and seems to have completely acclimated to a sightless life...we hope that she will ultimately have the benefit of cataract surgery. This procedure is readily available and we're hopeful that Tulip will be fortunate enough to receive this surgery. If she does not, it won't change the love and companionship that Tulip will give to a very loving family. Tulip appears to be a non-shedding girl. She will therefore require periodic baths/groooming coupled with great nutrition to keep her coat cottony-soft and shiny. Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special and cuddly dog her forever family. We're currently accepting applications for this beautiful and very loving companion. If interested in a new best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Pomeranian    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pax is such a dream- come- true pup for any family! If you're searching for a true-blue companion that has no greater joy than to join you for leisurely walks, enjoy visits with dog-loving friends and then as the day ends..to lie happily in your lap (or at least by your side)...if this type of pup speaks to your heart, then Pax is your perfect guy. Pax is just about 8 years old (just at the prime of his life as these small breeds often have life spans of 16+ years). Pax weighs just about 8 lbs and is a loving and very sweet purebred Pomeranian. This soft- as- cotton guy had no idea why he was suddenly facing euthanasia in a scary New ... (Read More)Mexico shelter....he tried SO hard to be the best-behaved dog around! How could he possibly understand that he was turned in to be euthanized because his human mom developed Alzheimers disease? We believe this very resilient guy was part of a puppy mill operation that included 21 other dogs. Due to the illness of this caretaker, the dogs weren't fed regularly or barely taken care of. Pax was the first of the 22 dogs to earn his freedom (it helps to be really cute with a great temperament). Farfel's was immediately contacted to help this great companion dog find a forever home that loves him with all their hearts. This amazing dog...with the best soul...deserves only the greatest that life has to offer! Pax's behavior is so loving and devoted that he's appropriate for any family that considers their pet a very important family member. Pax has been welcomed into shops, friend's homes and every situation that a really sweet and kind dog is appreciated. Pax is so so cuddly and warm that he brings a sense of calm and sweetness to all those who have the pleasure of spending time with him. With all of Pax's snuggly ways, he's also open to serious play and fun...just as long as he's with his favorite people, Pax is good to go...anywhere. He loves riding shotgun on errands or adventures...as long as he can be a copilot and see what's going on outside the window. He's actually pretty good about not being a backseat driver. We envision Pax in an adult home where he is truly a part of a family that enjoys their time at home... or likes to bring a wonderful, fuzzy guy with them. When Pax can't come along, you can bet he'll be at the window loyally waiting for his family to return. When they do, his joy knows no end and his welcome is always so happy that he wiggles with delight. Pax also seems to enjoy his time with gentle, like-sized dogs. We do, however, feel that Pax could be very happy in a single-dog household as long as he's loved and brought along on adventures that are dog-appropriate. . Pomeranians have the most beautiful coats with shades of gold and blonde running through it. They do require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition. If their coat is responsibly cared for, it will be soft as cotton and so very beautiful. Pax will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 1/7/17. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet boy. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-31-00092Katie-ADOPTION PENDING (female)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Schnauzer (mixed with Yorkie is a huge plus) gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are loving, smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household and become a very devoted best friend to their family. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Katie is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she ... (Read More)becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. Katie is such a great age and size... at 12 - 18 months old (such a great age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life yet old enough to have left her babyish behavior behind) and weighs 9 lbs (perfect size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet and well-behaved pup is welcome). Katie is lucky enough to have inherited the intelligence of the Schnauzer breed along with the curiosity of the fun-loving Yorkshire Terrier. She is so excited and attentive when her people teach her the wonders of her world. If Katie is trained (group classes with a positive reinforcement trainer would be great!) given tons of love, socialization with humans and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful companion. Katie has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a puppyish desire to please. We'd like to place Katie in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Katie would also enjoy the company of a fun and respectful canine...she would love the playtime and companionship. Katie will love the trails and paths of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy walks through her neighborhood socializing with her neighbors). Window-shopping would also be great to fine-tune her urban skills and provide the socialization that is so important in the development of a dog's abilities. With feelings of security within the family, Katie will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will aways return. Katie has a beautiful, non-shedding silver (with touches of black) and white coat. She will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her gorgeous coat cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Katie be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're hoping that this will occur. If it doesn't.. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Katie's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Katie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 1/6/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-24-00093Sammy-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sammy is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. At 10 months old and 19 lbs (anticipated to weigh about 21 lbs when full-grown) Sammy is every bit the puppy...fun and active....but at the same time he is a very well-behaved pup who was picked from a shelter population of about 400 dogs for his great temperament. Attached to his kennel card was the following from shelter personnel: You will absolutely fall in love Sammy. He's as sweet as can be, loves to be petted and adores all attention. This small pup will make you happy in so many ways. He's a ton of fun and loves people! ... (Read More)He's nice and calm and loves getting treats. This handsome boy prefers to do his business outside. He would be a holiday gift to any family..loves children! At this early point in Sammy's development, he loves everyone..be it human or canine (and most likely cats as well). We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Sammy to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Sammy to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. Right now, Sammy is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved guy around. We think Sammy would do great with dog-crazy kids who would love a dog with a wonderful spirit to be their best friend. These kids would also have to be very gentle and loving to nurture Sammy's great temperament and love of people. We'd also like an active family who will include Sammy in their activities. He is so portable that he can easily be a constant companion - Sammy would love nothing more than long walks or hikes, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace..he would be the hit of the office!. Sammy is so young that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Sammy's new family has to have the motivation and energy for a young pup...he requires behavioral guidance and tons of love to continue his very positive attitude about the world. We feel that Sammy is a very special guy and is a gift to any family. Anyone who meets him immediately becomes aware of his warmth and sweet/calm ways. Sammy has a walk that resembles a jig..upon further investigation by a vet, we found that in his puppy days he broke his pelvis (no doubt hit by a car). We were assured that this break has since healed and Sammy has no pain and doesn't require any medical intervention. This evaluation seems true when you watch Sammy play, run and have so much fun. Sammy is being fostered in a great Denver home and we're currently searching for a great match for this awesome guy. If interested in this very loving, sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
