Rescue Me ID: 17-04-24-00013Milo (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Terriers are deservedly known as a great breed of dog! Of utmost importance...they are famous for their great temperaments, intellect, love of fun and extremely snuggly ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and very gentle with family members and other family pets. Milo is a great representative of this loving and family-oriented breed...he absolutely loves being with his people...if a walk is the order of the day - count him in! Milo would be overjoyed to take a hike through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to his favorite humans and canines. Milo is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy ... (Read More)who favors the intellect and entertaining character of the Terrier breeds. Milo's New Mexico rescuer had the following to say about this incredible guy: Milo is the sweetest baby with an easy going personality and a medium level of energy. He does love to play and take walks (we're working on his leash skills and he's coming along), but he also loves to cuddle and have his tummy scratched. Milo gets along really well with our three smaller dogs and did great when our twelve year old grandson was visiting. We crate him at night next to our bed, and he sleeps quietly through the night. Milo doesn't really require a crate since he's completely house trained and respectful...so I know he's going to be sleeping in bed with us before you know it. Milo would fit in nicely with any family since he's an incredibly sweet and loving guy! He would enjoy the attention and full-time company of retirees and they would love him as well. He's an amazing lap-dog and a wonderful and loyal best friend. I think that Milo would also be very happy playing with older, dog-crazy kids. He would appreciate their love of fun and then cuddling in bed with them through the night. Milo is a very lightly shedding pup right now..once he's on a regimen of very healthy food for a while and his sad shelter hair grows out, Milo will have one of the most beautiful, non-shedding coats around. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Milo is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terrier breeds. At just about 9 - 12 months old and 14 lbs, Milo seems to be healing from his experiences..each day he's blossoming just a little more. Milo is becoming a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Milo in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's engaging and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important member. Milo will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/29/17. If interested in this very sweet guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-23-00063Jasmine (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Farfel's Rescue was notified by our compassionate rescuer in New Mexico that a very beautiful and sweet Miniature Australian Shepherd (maybe with just a touch of Border Collie) would be scheduled for euthanasia in just a few days. Although you can't see it in this photo, Jasmine is beautiful...with the softest and kindest eyes that just reach into your heart. The rescuer spoke of this 18 month old, 27 lb sweetheart as a gift of love. These very popular Miniature Australian Shepherds are now being opportunistically bred for their beautiful looks and sweet and very intelligent personalities. After one look at the sad eyes staring out of the ... (Read More)shelter photo and reading the reports of Jasmine's sweetness that speaks of a desire to trust and bond...we accepted Jasmine immediately into Farfel's Rescue. Jasmine was removed from the shelter, vetted (perfectly healthy), temperament-tested (passed with flying colors) and went home with her rescuer (who fell in love with her). She will introduce house skills and socialization while Jasmine waits for her transport to a new life in Colorado. We've committed to finding Jasmine a kind and very loving family who will enjoy her for her devotion, sweetness and strong desire to please. Once Jasmine becomes comfortable in her surroundings, she is a friend that will make you laugh at her antics and want to hold her tight just because she's so incredibly cute! We would love to see Jasmine in a home where she becomes a true member of the family. Active retirees or individuals who work out of the home would be perfect for this sweet young girl. Jasmine appears to have a calm side that loves nothing more than to settle into her person's lap (or lying close on the couch) and stay put with an occasional lick and a smile of delight at her good fortune. Jasmine has a gorgeous coat that will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing...she deserves a spa day with a sudsy bath and a thorough brushing. Great nutrition and care will keep Jasmine's beautiful coat cottony-soft and healthy. We've requested that Jasmine be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Jasmine's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Jasmine will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/29/17. If interested in this very sweet, loving and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-22-00069Jules (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There are many, many Terrier lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be one of the most desirable of breeds. This is due to their consistently engaging temperaments and overall intelligence. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their golden scruffy coats and their soft, expressive eyes. Jules is an extremely cute Yorkshire Terrier/Silky Terrier mix. It's difficult to tell in this photo (due to his need for a sudsy bath and grooming to give his coat an opportunity to grow in healthy and Terrier-scruffy). Jules is 12 - 18 months old and 14 lbs... and was very waggy with all the dogs and humans that he ... (Read More)got temperament tested with. He seems to have overcome his shelter fear and appears to be at peace regarding the challenges of his earlier life. We feel that Jules's forever family should have the motivation to continue his socialization and offer him the gift of positive reinforcement group obedience training classes. Through these clear boundaries and leadership by his humans, Jules will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so beautiful both inside and out and deserves a family that appreciates his gifts and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We are searching for an active family...either retirees or families with older, gentle and dog-loving kids. Another like-sized, fun doggie playmate and a fenced yard would be great for Jules. He (like all dogs) is happier and therefore more well-behaved if he's given enough exercise and fun... followed by snuggling with his favorite people. It would be a family who spend lots of time at home (or chooses to take a sweet dog with them to dog-friendly situations) that would provide a great forever home for Jules. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. It is Jule's love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put him through Heartworm treatments..Jule's precious life deserves to be saved! Jules has tested low HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Jules as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special guy as he becomes healthily heartworm-free. Jules will develop a stunning coat over a period of time of great nutrition and a commitment to periodic grooming. As a result of this great care, Jules will proudly strut his stuff and show off his soft and healthy Terrier coat. Jules will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/21/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-21-00246Reno (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Reno came from a life that was heartbreaking. It's clear that he was unloved and disrespected in a puppy mill. He was used, in the most awful conditions, to create more high-priced puppies..and so the cycle of abuse goes on. Reno was one of the very lucky ones that got rescued and transported to dog-loving Colorado. The New Mexico rescuers felt that he would one day (with the right person who is patient and doesn't require immediate gratification) bond into a loyal and loving lap dog who will give his entire heart to his family. Farfel's Rescue has every hope for Reno..we know that in the most loving hands, this blossoming will occur. ... (Read More)Reno was incredibly lucky again to be placed with an intuitive Colorado foster who knew exactly the right thing to do. She and her family assessed Reno's challenges from his previous life and spent a month or more simply making him feel safe. Through their efforts, Reno is making so much progress each day. They can see the glimpses of the emergence of a sweet and loving dog who will grace a home with his resilience and new-found love of life. At just about 2 or so years old and 8 lbs, Reno will become a guy that can be a full-time companion.. accompanying his guardians everywhere a small dog is allowed. Reno's foster mom found a cotton carrier for him...it's perfect for keeping Reno close and secure while socializing him to the outside world. Reno was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal New Mexico shelter if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog shows so much promise with his whole life lying in front of him. He just requires the gift of patience and understanding..and time to acclimate to his new home in his own way. Reno will be frightened initially since rehoming is scary...but with love, treats, patience and nurturing, we feel certain that over time he will emerge as a loving family member who will bring his special gifts to his favorite people. He also really enjoys gentle, like-sized dogs. We envision Reno with a patient and kind retired couple or individual...he would make so much progress with their patience and the time he could ultimately spend in their laps and enjoying everyday life together. Adopting (or fostering) Reno is a gift of the heart. If patient, you will have a loyal and devoted best friend who will love you unconditionally. Reno is being fostered in the Denver area. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet and lovable pup, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-21-00079Jiggs (male)

Lhasa Apso Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jiggs could be that dream come true pup for retirees who enjoy spending their time with a scruffy and adorable guy who is so loving and engaging. There's no question that he would also do well with gentle, dog-loving older kids who enjoy the fun and snuggles that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We want to make certain that Jiggs is handled kindly and respectfully...he'll return that loving treatment a thousand times over with snuggles and sweetness. Jiggs does like playing and is entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to show to everyone he knows once comfortable in his situation. Jiggs's story ... (Read More)is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Kansas shelter....but who could ignore his cuteness, adorable manner and desire to bond with anyone who could be his best friend? Jiggs is initially a bit shy..but give him a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome Kansas rescuers recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. At 9 - 12 months old and 20 lb Jiggs is a perfect size for walks, hiking and outdoor fun..and then at the end of the day would enjoy nothing more than a warm lap or a spot on the couch next to his favorite person. Jiggs would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He can be fearful when left alone (Jiggs has been abandoned and still worries)...we therefore are searching for a family where home is their favorite place. Jiggs would be the most committed and loving best friend..and would be overjoyed with the opportunity to come along and be part of the fun. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a visit with friends, a car ride, a vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch. All of this would speak to Jiggs's sweet temperament. We aren't open to a home where the family members spend their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Jiggs to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Jiggs is a non-shedding guy with the beautiful..and soft as can be golden-colored hair that represents his breed mix. Jiggs will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition. With this care, Jiggs's coat will be cottony-soft and shine with good health. Jiggs is in a foster home in the Denver area. Applications and inquiries are currently being accepted for this very loving and loyal best friend. An app can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-18-00198Finn (male)

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When Finn's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Kansas shelter, she was shocked to see the beautiful (and extremely dirty and matted) Finn tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Terrier mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Finn became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. At just about 7 - 7.5 years old and 23 lbs, this very beautiful guy is just waiting waiting for positive input and guidance to be ... (Read More)the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Finn to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Finn gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he appears to be a Wheaten/Cairn.. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy Terrier that's irresistible! When Finn turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Finn's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family for Finn. It's not that he doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Finn is more comfortable around adult energy. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Finn, once bonded, will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Finn enjoys time with dogs who are gentle, but doesn't really care about interacting. He's a very calm guy who prefers to spend his time getting belly rubs and enjoying his family. Finn appears to be a non-shedding guy and will therefore require a commitment to grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Finn be neutered/microchipped prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Finn's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Finn will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 4/19/17. Her mom was slated for euthanasia following a very tough early life. Ivy was recognized by the shelter for her great temperament and escaped her fate by being transported to Farfel's Rescue and a forever family waiting for her in Colorado. Val had the good fortune to be born into the love and nurturing of this great home. Val was immediately handled, nurtured and cuddled to give her a great start in life. This was followed by positive socialization with other dogs, cats... and humans who let Val know that she's the best puppy on earth. The result of this great care is a well-socialized puppy who can fit into any situation with a positive attitude.. filled with love and good intention. Val, at just 9 weeks old and 3 lbs (anticipate full-grown weight of approximately 10 lbs) is a little shy at first, but loves to snuggle and is very sweet and playful. You can count on this beautiful baby to climb into your lap...she loves that spot to give and receive love. A belly rub and endearing words can put Val over the moon. Val is cute as a button and so silly. She is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. If Val continues this regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...she will become a well-adjusted and very loving adult companion. Val is a gorgeous Yorkshire Terrier mix puppy who is the cutest ever! Her often calm.. yet playful and silly demeanor is just who she is. If Val is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted girl who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for this sweet and cuddly girl. We feel it's very important that Val is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Val can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere. Val will be adopted out unfixed due to her very young age. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to her spay, microchip and any additional puppy shots that Val might require if our Denver vet is used. We can't determine at this point if Val is a shedder...although we see no sign of shedding at this point. A commitment to sudsy baths and serious brushing combined with great nutrition will keep this puppy's coat healthy and silky-soft. Farfel's is currently setting up Meet and Greets with this wonderful puppy. If interested in a loving and fun best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed are generally very loving and intelligent. They also fit well into a family.. making great companions and the ultimate lap dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine. Apple is just about 5 years old (such a great age - young enough to be fun, active and adventurous while being mature enough to understand her adult skills). Apple weighs 15 lbs..a perfect size for hiking and outdoor fun... and then Apple will ... (Read More)gently warm your lap and express her love with her loyalty and sweetness. Apple's great Kansas foster mom sent the following report about sweet Apple: I was the lucky one that fostered Apple prior to her journey to Colorado. Let me start off by saying she is a doll! She is such a loving and sweet cuddle bug! Apple was gentle and sweet with my 2 kids..12 and 14. I have 3 personal dogs and Apple did great with them as well. She didn't play with them a ton because she would rather be with her humans... either curled up on our laps or cuddling on the couch after an active day. Apple is super, super sweet!! She slept in our bed and had no issues at all. She actually slept like a log all night!. I will cry like a baby when I drop her off for transport to Colorado but know that she will be in good hands with Farfel's! Apple has inherited the superior intelligence of the Cairn Terrier along with the curiosity of the Fox Terrier...she is therefore very open for her family to teach her the wonders of her world. If Apple is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident dog who will be a wonderful companion. She has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. We'd like to place Apple in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Apple will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside this incredibly cute and scruffy Terrier mix. Apple would love hiking the trails of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy walking the mountains), window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Apple will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will aways return . Apple has a really scruffy, non-shedding coat. With periodic baths, brushing and great nutrition, she will grow the beautiful hair of a healthy, well-cared for coat. Apple will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 4/18/17. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks to socialize with neighbors..and mental stimulation that comes from time spent with her humans will keep Zoey happy and fulfilled. Zoey would also enjoy time with gentle, dog-loving kids. She's an easy-going pup..and we wouldn't want her tail being pulled or anything but the gentlest of handling. Izzy is a very striking puppy...with a gorgeous baby coat that will be silky-shiny (after a sudsy bath) with the purest of black with just a touch of silver running through it. Izzy is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and willing...very typical of the cross of Terrier breeds. Izzy is also a very happy go lucky and loving puppy...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Izzy is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy socialization class followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Izzy finding her forever home with a retired couple or family with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young puppy. Izzy enjoys children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen. Izzy will be up to date on her vaccinations, however her age prevents her from being spayed in Texas. Farfel's will be happy to pay for Izzy's spay and microchip upon her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Noah would be that perfect companion for a dog-loving adult family that is searching for a true best friend. At just about 12 - 18 months old and 7 lbs, Noah is a very portable guy that can be a full-time companion.. accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and very sweet dog is allowed. Noah's wonderful foster mom found a carrier for him...it's perfect for keeping Noah close and secure while socializing him to the outside world. Noah was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal New Mexico shelter if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog is just so awesome with ... (Read More)his whole life lying in front of him. He just requires the gift of patience and understanding..and time to acclimate to his new home in his own way. Noah came from a life that was heartbreaking. It's clear that he was unloved and disrespected in a puppy mill. He was used, in the most awful conditions, to create more high-priced puppies..and so the cycle of abuse goes on. Noah was one of the very lucky ones that got rescued and transported to dog-loving Colorado. He was incredibly lucky again to be placed with an intuitive foster who knew exactly the right thing to do. She and her family assessed Noah's challenges from his previous life and spent a month or more simply making him feel safe. Through their efforts, Noah has emerged as a sweet and loving dog who will grace a home with his resilience and new-found love of life. Noah may be frightened initially since rehoming is scary...but with love, treats, patience and nurturing, we feel certain that he will emerge as a loving family member who will bring his special gifts to his favorite people as well as gentle, like-sized companion dogs. We envision Noah with a patient and kind retired couple or individual...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their laps and enjoying everyday life together. It's not that Noah is a needy guy...he just loves the company of his humans who respect and love him exactly as he is. Noah is being fostered in the Denver area. Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Indy is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning apricot and white streaks that run through his soft coat. Indy also has the most beautiful eyes with so much wisdom ...you just want to hug this little cutie-pie close. At approximately 2 - 2.5 years old and 12 lbs, Indy is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome... while being large enough to love long walks and outdoor fun. Indy (once comfortable) is every bit the young guy...fun and active. ... (Read More)But at the same time he is a happy and well-behaved pup (once he's used to his environment) who is just a lovebug. At this early point in Indy's development, he loves virtually everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Indy to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Indy to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. We also feel that Indy would be most comfortable with an adult family (retirees would be great) or one with older dog-crazy kids where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Indy is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Indy is so loyal once bonded that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Indy is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Indy's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He requires behavioral guidance and tons of love to let him know that he's secure in his forever home. Indy will be fully vetted with up to date vaccinations when he arrives in Boulder. We've requested that he be neutered but aren't optimistic that this will occur in this area of New Mexico so crowded with homeless dogs. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Indy's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.. to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth. Indy is arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 4/14/17 (or one week later..will update when transport is confirmed). Applications are currently being accepted for sweet Indy. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Pompeii is just a pup and is learning about the ways of the world. He loves his long walks with his foster and is learning socialization skills...he's a very engaging and cuddly guy! At any time a fun adventure is the order of the day - count Pompeii in! Spaniel mixes are known to engage joyfully and energetically and then crash on the couch (or on a favorite person's lap) snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines. Pompeii is a cute as can be.. and a very sweet guy who favors the look and loyalty of the King Charles while taking on the very intelligent and engaging qualities of the Tibetan Spaniel. Pompeii's sweet nature is ... (Read More)just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Pompeii is friendly (while initially a bit shy) and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a close companion. You know when a loved one approaches, Pompeii's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Pompeii loves to go to cuddle and let you know the level of his devotion. Pompeii is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Spaniel breeds. At 6 - 9 months old and 11 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 14 lbs when full-grown), Pompeii seems to be in the process of leaving behind the feelings of neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Pompeii in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he'd love to be involved and would thrive in a forever home that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Pompeii would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. Pompeii would be overjoyed to accompany his favorite people to the park, walking beautiful Colorado trails and even riding shotgun running errands. Pompeii doesn't require another dog to be happy.(as long as he gets both physical exercise and mental stimulation from his people). He does, however, enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. As per Pompeii's Texas rescuers: Pompeii arrived the shelter in sad shape. He is a sensitive guy and being homeless and unloved resulted in him losing a bit of hair to dermatitis...for this minor skin issue, Pompeii was slated for euthanasia. Farfel's was immediately contacted by the Texas shelter speaking of what an amazing guy Pompeii is..and that he passed his temperament testing with flying colors. Farfel's Rescue was happy to speak up for Pompeii...having no doubt that he will be a wonderful addition to a very lucky family. Pompeii is a very engaging and sweet pup that, once over his shyness, will be a loyal and very bonded family member. He has been great with other dogs in his foster home and has quickly blossomed into a great companion for his human fosters. Pompeii is working on his leash skills (and doing better every day) . He has proven that he is very ready for a great home and will bring so much love and kindness to his family. Pompeii has definitely been a shelter favorite and we're thrilled that his sweetness has earned him a ticket to a great new home in Colorado. Pompeii will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement choice) to keep his coat healthy with a cottony-soft feel. With proper coat care, clean conditions and less stress in his life, Pompeii's coat will grow in healthy and silky-soft. Pompeii will arrive on transport in Denver on Friday 4/7/17. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Zak would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that loyal and loving lap dog. Zak is just 9 - 12 months old and 14 lbs ...such a perfect age and size to love to hike the mountain trails or have fun in the park. Zak is so portable that he can be a full-time best friend...accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and wonderful dog is allowed. Zak was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal Kansas shelter if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog is just so awesome with his whole life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so ... (Read More)much joy to a special family. Zak, as a young guy is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With positive guidance and socialization out in the community, he will be a well-behaved and very bonded best friend. Zak is an energetic guy who loves play and fun. When it's time to settle down, Zak is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart. He may be a bit shy at the Colorado transport since rehoming is challenging for any pup...but with a new family that is about love and nurturing, Zak will absolutely shine. We envision Zak with either a retired couple or individual...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. It's not that Zak is a needy or whiny guy...he just loves the company of his humans who respect him for all his wonderful traits. Zak likes children and enjoys playing with them...but we would only be open to older kids who can be gentle and understanding that Zak only weighs 14 lbs and needs soft and kind handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery...Zak would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk..fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air...so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then...maybe his favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed or couch beside his favorite people. Zak appears to be a non-shedding guy (although we would never swear to it). Schnauzers are considered by some be be a great breed for those with allergies. Zak will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Zak will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Kansas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Zak's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Zak will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 4/4/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-26-00069Bryce (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bryce is a fuzzy, cuddly 9 - 12 month old,13 lb Shih Tzu mix whose silly and lovable behavior just makes you want to hug him on a constant basis. When you look a bit closer, you can see that Bryce's uniqueness is unusual for a very healthy, young guy with a gift for making everyone around him smile...and immediately fall in love. Bryce's uniqueness is his challenge...we believe that Bryce was abused while in a temporary home in Texas. Adopted (and returned with instructions to euthanize) by a grandmother and her 4 year old granddaughter..the older woman stated that Bryce bit her granddaughter. Neither the shelter nor our rescue group ... (Read More)believed that Bryce was capable of this behavior...and we happily anticipated Bryce's arrival in Colorado. We were so happy to greet the adorable and affable Bryce and looked forward to placing him in his forever home. It wasn't long before we noticed that Bryce had a head bob and seemed to have limited peripheral vision. Our first thought was Distemper (thankfully a test quickly ruled that out) followed by thoughts of head trauma caused by abuse. This became more and more feasible as days went by. Bryce certainly doesn't seem to care either way...he's an exceptionally happy and engaging guy who endears himself to all those who make his acquaintance. The great news is that Bryce appears to be very slowly getting over his symptoms of his abuse...they are decreasing...while his sweetness and incredibly cute ways are becoming all the more evident. This is a perfect time to search for a special family that will love Bryce (with all his silly ways) exactly as he is. He will be the light of that family and bring them more love and smiles than they may every have imagined. Bryce is currently in a foster home in the Boulder area. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-16-00153Chance-PENDING (male)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chance could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet companion. There's no question that Chance would also do well with gentle older kids who enjoy the fun and positive energy that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Chance's family not because he dislikes young kids...but because Chance is only 10.5 lbs and 12 - 18 months old, we want to make certain he's handled gently and respectfully. Chance has had a hard life without lots of love and nurturing...but not for him to be negative or sad. Farfel's is very committed to placing Chance ... (Read More)with a family that derives great joy from showering a beautiful and sweet dog with nothing but love and kindness. Once comfortable (it may take a bit of cuddling time) Chance loves playing and is entertaining in his antics, young energy and the huge love inside just waiting to blossom. Chance's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Kansas shelter....but who could ignore his adorable manner and the huge potential he has? Chance is initially a bit shy..but give him some time (a soft belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss and a wagging tail. The awesome Kansas rescuer recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. Chance would do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Chance's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Chance to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. We've requested that Chance be neutered prior to his arrival in Colorado. This is often not possible due to the limited number of vets in this industrial area of Kansas and the vast number of dogs. If his fixing doesn't occur, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for his neuter and microchip at our vet in Denver. Chance is being fostered in the Boulder area. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and loyal best friend. Apps can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
