Rescue Me ID: 17-08-15-00250Forrest (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When Forrest's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Forrest tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Schnauzer/Terrier mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Forrest became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. This is not a photo that shows the sweet and mellow side of this sweet boy. Through his frightened expression, you ... (Read More)can see that Forrest is a gorgeous guy who is very frightened by his intake at a dreary shelter. We've requested new photos but have yet to receive them. We'll update as soon as we do so. At just about 18 months old and 14 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Forrest to a home that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience classes will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Forrest and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Forrest gets lots of attention when he's out and about with his foster because he's a stunning guy. He's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. Forrest appears to be a Schnauzer mix but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy guy that's irresistible! When Forrest turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Forrest 's style once he's acclimated to his new environment. It's clear that he is working hard on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult or retired family for Forrest. It's not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Forrest is more comfortable around quieter energy. A retired couple or individual or a person working at home would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that these groups often put into their pets. Forrest , once bonded, will be a loyal and very loving companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Forrest would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you weigh just 14 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs. Forrest is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Forrest 's foster mom is very happy to report that Forrest is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Forrest will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Forrest will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday 8/18/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-08-15-00200Prancer (male)

Maltese Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Prancer was recently rescued from a high-kill Kansas shelter. This very sweet and engaging guy passed his vetting and behavioral testing with flying colors and earned his ticket to a great new life in Colorado. Farfel's Rescue is very excited to welcome Prancer and start the search for a loving and committed forever home for this deserving little guy. Our adorable..and very silly Prancer is just about 7.5 years old (such a great age..old enough to have left babyish ways behind but young enough to have many active and healthy years ahead) and a perfect cuddling size of about 6 lbs. Prancer appears to be a Maltese/Papillon mix..with the ... (Read More)greatest ears and softest coat ever. Prancer is the perfect companion for anyone searching for a very devoted dog who loves to spend his time either on his person's lap, taking a stroll on beautiful Colorado paths or playing hard in the back yard. At day's end, Prancer will be first on the couch to engage in a serious belly rub session. Prancer doesn't require extensive exercise but does enjoy walks, socializing, playing and cuddling with those he loves. He's a very portable guy at just 6 lbs and would love nothing more than a car or plane ride (in the cabin only please) to any destination. His behavior and temperament are great but it's important that's he's given the time to bond with his new family. We envision Prancer in a home with a retired individual or couple who enjoy spending lots of quality time with an entertaining lap dog. Prancer is often the center of attention just because he's so cute and engaging...and very funny as well! He's at that perfect age that is beyond babyish antics and is now developing into just a great companion with adult skills. Prancer enjoys the company of other gentle, small dogs... but can also be very happy as the one and only. He's a wonderful companion....just a kind word, hugs, treats and a place next to (or preferably on) the bed would be a dream come true for this little guy. Prancer appears to be a non-shedding guy (or lightly shedding..difficult to tell for certain until his sad shelter coat grows out). He will therefore require a commitment to great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Prancer will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy pups. We've requested that he be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Prancer's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Prancer will be transported to Denver on Friday 8/18/17. If interested in this very loving and devoted best friend please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-09-00673Sparrow (female)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet Shih Tzu/Poodle mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that pups of this breed mix are very loving and intelligent. They also fit well into a family...and make great companions and the ultimate lap dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine. Sparrow is just about 18 - 24 months old...such a great age - young enough to be fun, active and adventurous, yet old enough to understand adult skills. Sparrow weighs 16 lbs..a great size for hiking during the day & being the greatest lap ... (Read More)dog at day's end. Sparrow will always gently express her love with her loyalty and sweetness. Sparrow's foster mom had the following to say about her sweet girl: I was the lucky one that fostered Sparrow before her journey to Colorado. Let me start off by saying she is a doll! Once comfortable, she is the world's greatest cuddle bug! I have 3 other dogs and 2 teenagers.. Sparrow did absolutely fine with them. She didn't want to play much with my dogs because she usually chose to be with her humans... either curled up on our laps or cuddling on the couch. Sparrow is super, super sweet!! She chose to sleep on our bed and had no issues at all. She slept like a log all night!. I'll cry like a baby when I drop her off for transport to Colorado but know that she will be in good hands with Farfel's! Sparrow has inherited the great intelligence of the Poodle breed along with the curiosity and loving ways of the Shih Tzu ...she is therefore very open for her family to teach her the wonders of her world. If Sparrow is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident dog who will be a wonderful companion. She has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. We'd like to place Sparrow in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Sparrow will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside this incredibly cute Shih Tzu mix. Sparrow would love hiking the trails of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy the mountain paths), window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Sparrow will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return . Sparrow has a beautiful, non-shedding coat. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great add-on for Sparrow). With this regimen, she will develop the cottony-soft, shining hair of a healthy, well-cared for coat. Sparrow won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of . Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Sparrow's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Sparrow will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 8/12/17. Cavalier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Rocky. His smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Rocky's rescuer was very quick to tell us that he is SO much more handsome than his photo. She said that he has the most beautiful and expressive eyes that speak of so much sweetness. Once he has a much-needed grooming, Rocky's face will show the adorable features of the Cavalier and the scruffy cuteness of the Spaniel breed. This curious and really, really smart 9 - 12 month old, 10 lb guy is a truly great companion. His rescuer described this gorgeous boy as ... (Read More)perfect! She gave the following info about sweet Rocky: Rocky is a calm yet playful guy who really is so sweet and kind. He's a love bug who wants nothing more than to warm your lap and be loved for all his sweetness! He's very respectful in my home (maybe too busy playing and having fun..so tired) and has been very trustworthy. He's great with me, my husband, our 3 kids (from 10 - 15 years old) and our 3 dogs. Rocky's lucky new family will be getting a true gem! We can picture Rocky as the best friend to retirees. He'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share his love and good will on a daily basis. Rocky would also do well in a family with dog-loving kids and other gentle pups. He'd love the fun and active lifestyle...a long walk or playtime would put Rocky over the moon. There's also no question that Rocky would be the most popular guy on the block. He loves to engage and just be his entertaining, adorable self. Even though Rocky is usually up for pretty much any activity, he's not pushy or yappy. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks or serious playtime ..and mental stimulation that comes from his time with his humans is important to this guy to keep him happy and well-behaved. We've requested that Rocky be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Rocky's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Rocky is arriving on transport in Denver on Sunday 8/13/17. Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Jazzy. Her smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Jazzy's rescuer knows it's morning when her little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then big kiss. This curious and really, really smart 9 - 12 month old, 9 lb Yorkshire Terrier/Cairn Terrier mix is such a great size..perfect for nighttime snuggles and lap time. Jazzy would also enjoy time with gentle, dog-loving kids. She's an easy-going pup..but we wouldn't want her tail being pulled or anything but the gentlest of handling. Jazzy derives so much joy from her relationships, we would love to see her in an active family that just loves her dearly...she's a great dog that deserves this in her life. The Terrier mixes are reliably such great family dogs! Rescue Me ID: 17-08-04-00468Trevor-PENDING! (male)

Border Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It's difficult to imagine this truly beautiful (inside and out) Border Terrier/Cairn Terrier mix in a high-kill shelter in Texas. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Trevor's life..she saw that he was so loving with a perfect temperament to be a wonderful family dog. She immediately made the decision to rescue Trevor and book him for transport to a new life in Colorado. It's now getting to the time when Trevor is ready to be transported to his new life in Colorado. Although it will be terribly hard for Trevor's rescuer mom to say goodbye...she knows that he will have a great life. The following is a description of Trevor by his ... (Read More)rescuer: --Trevor is such a sweet guy just waiting to blossom. I've enjoyed watching him learn that the world can be a loving and positive place. Trevor had a hard start - but now he's learning about treats, belly rubs and that he's a very valuable pup! He may very well be initially shy, but just give him a minute and you'll have a new best friend. Trevor loves to run and play outside...he has the perfect amount of energy for an 18 month old, 24 lb healthy pup. Trevor would do well with a family who is home a lot to hike and play with and run freely at the park - he would love that! After he's had exercise and stimulation, Trevor is ready to chill on the couch right next to his favorite people. Trevor's potentially gorgeous coat (with the most beautiful colors running through it) appears to be either non-shedding or lightly shedding (it's difficult to tell when a dog first leave the shelter's challenging environment). Either way, it will require care...a periodic grooming and great nutrition would be perfect to keep Trevor's coat as gorgeous and cottony-soft as it can be. Trevor really enjoys other dogs, but appreciates those that are respectful of his smaller size. He has also been really great with my 12 and 16 year old daughters, although I haven't seen him around smaller kids. He's excellent with my mom and has been a great companion for her during the day. Trevor is a truly smart pup - true to his breeds!! What a gem of a best friend for a family who wants to include a very cute and sweet dog in their life. He has the potential to be a extremely loving and fun.. as well as a very loyal and engaging companion. Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special Terrier mix his forever family. Trevor may not be neutered when he arrives on transport in Denver -this area of Texas has far too many dogs and not enough vets to fix these pups before they leave the area. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs to neuter and microchip Trevor at our Denver vet after his arrival in Colorado. Trevor will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 8/12/17.     We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great New Mexico rescuer in saving Austin. She could see that his temperament was so sweet that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Austin is such a sweet and endearing spirit who cuddles against you for love and security - such a special guy. Austin is just 5 - 6 months old and weighs about 10 lbs (we anticipate his full-grown weight to be about 12 - 15 lbs). He's the perfect size for an early morning hike followed by an afternoon of hanging out or snoozing on the couch. Austin is a sweet puppy searching for a family that loves him. With kindness and assurance, he'll be a typical silly and loving puppy. Austin is so engaging and in love with those who are kind and attentive to him. His foster has said they haven't turned on the TV since Austin came to their house...he's so entertaining. He is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If Austin continues this regimen of socialization that his foster has started...that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans, he will become a well-adjusted and very loyal and loving adult companion. Austin is a gorgeous Terrier mix puppy. Once comfortable, he has the cutest antics ever. His sweet and silly demeanor is just who he is..Austin just appears to be an entertaining puppy who is learning that humans and other gentle dogs are awesome. We also feel it's very important that Austin is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He would be overjoyed with one day walking along Colorado paths and trails.. and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Austin can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere. Austin has a scruffy Terrier coat that will require care to be very healthy and matt-free. Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Aspen were his gorgeous eyes in the dim shelter light. She stared at Aspen for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this beautiful Terrier mix... underneath the shelter matts and filth is a sweet and loving puppy whose greatest joy would be a family that loves him in a forever kind of way. Aspen immediately made it clear that he's a LOVE! His adorable little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile. This 6 month old, 9 lb cutie-pie (anticipated to be about 12 lbs when full grown) truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send him over the moon. Aspen wants to be a people dog...with a bit of post-shelter confidence and love, he will be so filled with joy that he's finally found his forever family. We are searching for either an adult-only home, active retirees or a home with very gentle, dog-crazy kids for this very kind pup. He's a young guy who is very friendly and loving toward all age groups. We envision Aspen with fun-loving retirees who want an adorable young dog as a family member and companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people....he's engaging and mellow enough to spend some afternoon time snoozing on the couch or would be very excited to go for a long walk on mountain trails or neighborhood paths....just as long as he's with his people. Aspen would also be a great office puppy in a dog-friendly workplace....he would be very friendly and respectful (as long as he can sleep on your feet...great foot warmer). He can have moments of shyness from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great puppy past any insecure feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned again. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Our sweet and beautiful Bella couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Bella is a 9 - 12 month old, 31 lb Australian Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever mix (can't get a better family dog) that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Both Cattle Dogs and Labs have grown in popularity tremendously over the past few years. It makes perfect sense in that they're known for their great temperaments, incredible intelligence and loyalty.. and love for their families. Farfel's rescues almost every Aussie Cattle Dog/Lab mix that is in need of our help with confidence they will have great energy and be excellent family members. ... (Read More)Bella has all these wonderful traits and was described by her New Mexico foster mom as PERFECTLY WONDERFUL! Bella has had a challenging period of time but is now safe and sound‰'Ű|never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all‰'Ű|Bella doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Bella is so young, she's a blank slate‰'Ű|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Together they will learn the skills to have Bella be a companion that is well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. Bella tends to be a loving and sensitive girl who loves life and responds so well to nurturing and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome)... and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Bella gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people for belly rubs and soft touches. Bella loves to come along (and is very portable at 31 lbs)..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a hike on a Colorado trail, a vacation or just socializing‰'Ű|Bella would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance enough to fit in just about anywhere . We envision Bella in a home that will provide her with exercise and mental stimulation. Bella wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone‰'Ű|she is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Bella would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a young dog, she'd also learn that she's loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Bella will be arriving in Denver unfixed due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this very poor area of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Bella's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Bella will be arriving on transport on Sunday 8/6/17. If interested in this very sweet girl who is truly a best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.     The very first thing our rescuer noticed about James were his gorgeous eyes so filled with wisdom..glowing in the dim shelter light. She stared at James for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this very handsome Terrier mix. This photo definitely doesn't do this beautiful dog justice! A spa day is in order - underneath the shelter matts and filth is a gorgeous Terrier mix with with shades of apricot running through his cottony hair. James will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his scruffy cost soft and matt-free. James immediately wants to make it clear that he's a LOVE! His adorable ... (Read More)little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile. James was brought out of his cage.. and before you know it, he was in our rescuer's lap. He was somewhat shy and a bit frightened.. but was so happy for the hug and sense of safety. This 9 - 12 month old, 13 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send him over the moon. James truly wants to be a family dog....he will be overjoyed that he's finally found his forever home. We are searching for an adult-only.. or a home with older, dog-crazy kids for this very sweet pup. It's not that James doesn't like young children.. but he can become a bit overwhelmed by rowdiness and very loud voices . We envision James with a retired couple or individual who wants an adorable young dog as a family member and best friend. James would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people....he's calm enough to spend some afternoon time snoozing on the couch or would be even happier to go for a long hike on mountain trails or neighborhood paths. Just as long as he's with his special people, James is a very happy and loyal guy. James rescuer had the following to say about this wonderful little guy: James is such a cute little dog! He's super friendly! James just wants you to play with him and then hold him tight (perfect lap dog!) He is an energetic guy like most JRT's (but not over the top) and loves the people who are kind to him with all his sweet heart. James isn't at all temperamental..just a great guy who loves to please.! James does really well with other dogs and LOVES people! He would be a perfect office dog in a dog-friendly workplace. There's no question that James would be well behaved and respectful (as long as he can sleep on your feet...great foot warmer). James can occasionally have a moment of shyness from the changes in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great pup past any insecure feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned again. James may not be neutered when he arrives on transport in Denver -this area of Kansas has far too many dogs and not enough vets to fix these pups before they leave the area. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs to neuter and microchip Brady at our Denver vet after his arrival in Colorado. James will arrive on transport in Denver on Tuesday 8/1/17.     It got scarily close to Rigby's euthanasia time in a dismal Texas shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate Texas rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Rigby was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer and shelter workers haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Rigby, at 18 months old and 35 lbs is the ... (Read More)perfect size to take along just about anywhere. He is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born hiker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Rigby with a very active family that can provide space for this very smart herding dog...maybe a ranch or an involved guardian who wants a loyal companion to run the trails with or have fun on rides or hikes in the open spaces. Rigby would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, hiking vacations or just hanging out at home after some fun exercise would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or socializing with playful canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Rigby than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Rigby can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home that will provide training, exercise and mental stimulation for this very smart dog. He is a very loyal guy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. Rigby would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since his desire to please is so strong...and it would create that special bond that exists between a trained, respectful dog and his people (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved trainers in your area). After passing his temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Rigby is with his foster in Denver being reminded of some basic house skills. His rescuer has described him as a love bug that deserves the gift of training to make make him the best dog he's capable of being....can we possibly say more? Rigby is in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing‰'Ű|. he will emerge with an amazing coat that will highlight the gorgeous merle and markings that speak of his breed. Rigby will require a periodic bath and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy and cottony-soft. Rigby is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from Texas, however most often a dog's euthanasia date arrives before their neuter date. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Rigby to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are loving, smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household and make excellent companions for all age groups as well as other dogs. Alice is one of these cuddly and very sweet Terriers. The Texas vets believe Alice to be a Yorkie (based on body structure and personality..she's a playful and very silly/entertaining girl) mixed with a cottony-soft Maltese diva. Alice is so puppyish in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. As you can see in her photo, Alice has a ... Wherever this joyful baby goes, she brings her positive attitude and fun-loving (occasionally mischievous) energy along with her. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Alice is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. Alice is such a great age and size... at 7 - 9 months old (a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life yet old enough to have left most babyish behaviors behind) and weighs 10 lbs (perfect size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet and very social pup is welcome). Alice has a beautiful, non-shedding (or perhaps lightly shedding) coat...this is hard to tell for certain until her sad shelter hair grows into a well-cared for coat. Alice will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her scruffy, cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Lab    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tucker would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that active and loyal hiking partner. At just about 6 - 8 months old and 35 lbs (anticipated to be about 45 or so lbs when full grown), Tucker is a take-along kind of guy that can be a full-time best friend...accompanying his guardians on hikes, bike rides, snow-shoeing and any activity that speaks to a young, active dog. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these pups with great temperaments...as well as so very striking...end up in precarious situations. It just doesn't get much cuter than Tucker's puppy curiosity.. and his sweetness at day's end. ... (Read More)Tucker was a last-minute rescue for us. His Oklahoma rescuer (and a previous adopter of a Farfel's dog) found Tucker running on a busy highway and had to scoop him up to save his life. This beautiful dog would have died on the busy streets of Oklahoma City. After due diligence to find his guardian, the realization was that Tucker had been dumped. Unfortunately, his OK rescuers are unable to keep sweet Tucker...we all agreed that Colorado was the perfect place for an active and very engaging Lab puppy. He'll be a great addition to an active family. Retirees who love the trails with a swim in a crisp mountain lake would be perfect for this water-loving guy. A younger family with older dog-crazy kids would also be great..we feel that Tucker's puppyish energy might be too much for a young child. Tucker, as a young guy, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With clear guidance and positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's is happy to share a list of approved force-free trainers in your area), Tucker will develop great behavior and become a very bonded and loyal companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart! Tucker's foster mom had the following to say about this beautiful Lab: Tucker is very loyal (desperately wants to connect with a human and be their best friend), so cuddly (would love to share a bed and snuggle all night), easily trainable as he's very smart and astute.. and has a very keen hunting instinct..therefore cats aren't a good match. Tucker gets along very well..and really loves, other dogs. He also loves swimming, belly rubs and chasing bubbles around the yard! He will be an excellent dog for an active person or family with older, dog-crazy kids. Tucker is in a foster home in Oklahoma City. He will be transported to Colorado in late July. Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bailey could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. There's also no question that Bailey would do well with very gentle older kids who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Bailey's family because we know that he enjoys order and quiet. He also just appears to be much more comfortable with the energy of older folks. Bailey does love playing (once he's comfortable) and is entertaining in his silly antics, positive energy and the love he wants to show to everyone he knows well who has been kind to him. ... (Read More)Bailey's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Kansas shelter....but who could ignore his adorable face and the cutest underbite you've ever seen? Bailey is initially fearful but give him some time (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome Texas rescuers recognized all of this in Bailey and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. It's terribly sad to understand that these dogs were used as a means to an end. Their purpose was to create revenue through puppies and then be thrown away if inconvenient. Bailey was recognized for the gifts and love he can bring to a committed family once he's comfortable in their care. Bailey would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's such a loving pup once he bonds.. and is so portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Bailey's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Bailey to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Bailey's potentially beautiful coat has been sadly ignored. Bailey is a non-shedding pup who is considered one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today. He therefore requires a committment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Bailey is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from Kansas, however most often, it's not possible to get an appointment prior to transport leaving for Colorado. If this is the case, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Bailey to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Bailey will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 7/3/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and loving companion who just needs a little bit of time to overcome his shyness and be the most engaging and loving guy around. Schnauzer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There are many, many Schnauzer lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be one of the most desirable of breeds. This is due to their consistently engaging temperaments, non-shedding coats and overall intelligence. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their silver scruffy coats and their soft, expressive eyes. Beau is an extremely cute Schnauzer/Terrier mix (although it's difficult to tell in this photo). Beau is in desperate need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing as can be seen in his photo. He suffers from dermatitis (like so many rescue dogs). This is a temporary itchy skin challenge caused by ... (Read More)stress, fleas and dirty conditions. With great nutrition and a kind and loving home...Beau will emerge with a beautiful and cottony-soft coat that speaks of his breed mix. As a non-shedding guy, Beau will also require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, super-soft and matt-free. Beau is 6 - 6.5 years old and 16 lbs... such a perfect age and size. He is old enough to have left his babyish behaviors behind and young enough to have many active (Beau will love hiking!) as well as mellow years ahead loving his family. Beau is the greatest size to be able to accompany his people everywhere a small..and SO sweet guy is welcome. We feel that Beau's forever family should have the motivation to continue his socialization and offer him the gift of positive reinforcement group obedience training classes. Through these clear boundaries and leadership by his humans, Beau will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so beautiful both inside and out and deserves a family that appreciates his gifts and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We are searching for an active and very loving family for Beau...either retirees or families with older, gentle and dog-loving kids. Another mellow but fun doggie playmate and a fenced yard would be great for Beau. He (like all dogs) is happier and therefore more well-behaved if he's given enough exercise and fun... followed by snuggling with his favorite people (he's a great lap dog!). It would be a family who spend lots of time at home (or chooses to take a sweet dog with them to dog-friendly situations) that would provide a great forever home for Beau. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. Beau will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/30/17.
