Rescue Me ID: 17-12-11-00094Alice (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are engaging, super-smart and make excellent family companions. They are a great fit for most active households and are extremely loyal companions for most age groups as well as other dogs. Alice is one of these cuddly, kind and very sweet Terriers. The New Mexico vets believe Alice to be a Cairn Terrier mixed with a bit of Jack Russell (this assessment was based on body structure and personality). Once comfortable in her surroundings, Alice is a playful and very silly/entertaining girl..very true to ... (Read More)typical Terrier traits. Alice is so puppyish in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. As you can see in her photo, Alice was very worried in the shelter environment (who wouldn't be?), but once she was removed from the overwhelming noise of the harsh environment of a high kill shelter and in the care of a foster ..she started to heal. And soon, Alice's face began to lose the worried look she wore while waiting for rescue. Her love of life has started to return and a hesitant waggy tail shows her devotion to her new foster. Most rescue dogs are initially a bit shy (rehoming can be confusing and a bit overwhelming). Once they're responsibly placed in a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will begin to shine. Alice is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. We're searching for a family that spends lots of time at home...or loves to take a small, sweet dog along with them. Dog-loving and active retirees would be perfect. Alice would be a loyal best friend...overjoyed with the time spent together and the loving attention she would receive. A younger family that works from home would be great as well. Alice will be a great home-office companion...as well as an excellent foot warmer on winter days. Alice is such a great age and size... at just about 2 - 2.5 years old (a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life yet old enough to have left most babyish behaviors behind) and weighs about 15 lbs...perfect size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet pup is welcome. We'll update when we receive Alice's exact age and weight. Alice has the potential for a beautiful coat with shades of silver, black and the whitest of white running through it. Her coat looks shelter-tired right now. With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition, Alice's hair will return to the classic beauty of a scruffy Terrier coat. We've requested that Alice be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Alice's spay and microchip after her arrival if our Denver vet is used. Alice will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 12/16/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Alice, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-05-00072Izzy (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The first thing you notice about Izzy is the love and positive attitude that is always with her. It's somewhat surprising considering this beautiful Poodle/Cairn Terrier mix was part of a hoarding ring. In this case, it's clear that the hoarder loved her dogs, didn't abuse them and thought she was doing right by them... but was sadly the victim of mental illness. She meant to love every dog into perfect health and well being...but reality is that you need supplies and volunteers to help with such a large endeavor. It was surprising (but no less sad) that upon vetting (with only a few exceptions), the dogs checked out to be healthy with very ... (Read More)friendly temperaments. You would never know that this was Izzy's history. She is a loving spirit that seeks what every being is searching for...a home and a family that loves her. She has a sweet and engaging temperament that once comfortable in her surroundings, wants to bond with everyone. Izzy becomes so devoted to anyone who shows love and caring. A soft pat is gratefully accepted and a belly rub followed by a treat is nirvana. One thing that is certain is that this pup is always grateful for kindness and love..and returns that a thousand times over. Izzy's challenging early life taught her that the best of behavior brings good things her way...and when she is acknowledged, the joy starts at her wagging tail and moves up to her dark and expressive eyes. At a tiny 8 lbs and just 18 - 24 months old, Izzy has a long lifetime ahead to enjoy the best of life in a permanent home. The efforts of many contributed to the rescue, foster and arrangements for Izzy to get her boarding pass to Colorado and Farfel's Rescue. The consensus was unanimous that this very sweet pup earned her ticket with an engaging personality and so much love to give. We all feel that Izzy will be a very positive addition to a dog-crazy family. izzy's New Mexico rescuer said it the best...this beautiful girl with the beautiful face (and a coat that with loving care will feel like cotton) will easily become the love of someone's life! Izzy adores me and she even shows enthusiasm for my grumpy teenagers. It's not unusual to find Izzy wedged into a small spot on the couch with her adorable head on me and her body draped across my daughter's lap. We'll miss her like none other, but know that Izzy is in good hands and will be the best friend a special Colorado family can ever imagine! We'd like to place Izzy in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Izzy would also enjoy the company of a fun and respectful canine...she would love the playtime and companionship. Izzy will shine for a family who is kind and very loving while being a leader...this will bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside of this very cute and loving Poodle/Terrier. Izzy will love the extensive neighborhood paths of Colorado. She's the perfect size to enjoy walks and socializing...window-shopping would also be great to fine-tune her urban skills and provide the socialization that is so important in the development of a dog's abilities. With feelings of security within the family, Izzy will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return. Izzy appears to have the potential for a cottony-soft, non-shedding coat (although it's difficult to tell for certain until her sad, uncared for hair grows out). Izzy will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her lovely coat shining, cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Izzy be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Izzy's spay and microchip after her arrival if our Denver vet is used. Izzy will be arriving on transport in Denver right around 12/15 (we'll be updating on date/time of arrival as soon as all is finalized). Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 17-12-02-00103Liam (male)

Cockapoo    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When a Farfel's volunteer first met Liam, she was struck first by his cuteness...how could you not be? His curious and very affectionate and loving personality (very typical of a dog with a great temperament) became the entertainment of the day for his rescuer...so funny and cute that you just had to periodically hug him. We're all very glad that Liam can't remember the challenges of his earlier days...wandering in traffic on a busy New Mexico highway in danger of losing his life. Our dedicated New Mexico rescuer didn't have to think twice..she scooped this little guy up and saved his life. It was moments later that she found that Liam has ... (Read More)a great temperament...and even in this dire situation, was extremely grateful and sweet. Liam's rescuer brought him home to soothe his fears and determine if he had been hurt during his highway experience. He was in great shape and engaging in his gratitude. From that second forth, Liam has been nothing but a delight to his rescuer and her delighted family. They found that he loves their kids (12 and 17 years old), 2 like-sized dogs and is perfectly fine with their illusive kitty. To their delight, they have found that Liam is completely housetrained, knows a number of commands and is very respectful of their home. They all fell in love with Liam..enjoying him for all his sweetness and love of life. Liam, at just about a year old and 22 lbs (such a perfect age and size...young enough to be an active best friend that is the perfect size to be a hiking partner. And then at day's end, Liam would love nothing more than to be a lap dog or couch companion with his family). Liam is learning so quickly.. and is so happy in his new understanding that the world can be a very positive place. We are searching for the most loving and dedicated home for this exceptional guy. We feel that Liam would be perfect for a home where the family is present...it can be retirees who have the time, energy and enthusiasm for a young pup. Or a family with older, dog-crazy children that choose to include their pet in their daily lives would also be perfect for this very engaged guy. Since Liam is a young and very curious and intelligent guy...he will be a star in positive reinforcement group training classes. They will serve to guide Liam (and his family) to learn the skills for him to be a very bonded adult companion. Obedience level I promotes great behavior and peaceful relationships with humans and dogs. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. It's also very important that Liam is given mental stimulation and lots of exercise. It's never too early to start teaching leash manners on the incredible trails of Colorado....this will develop Liam into a fit and happy companion. This adorable Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix) appears to be a non-shedding guy (although it's difficult to tell for certain until his sad hair grows out into a beautiful new coat). Liam will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be perfect) to keep his stunning coat cottony-soft, very healthy and matt-free. Liam will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Liam's neuter and microchip immediately after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Liam will be arriving on transport in Denver on Thursday 12/7/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-30-00003Poppy (female)

Maltese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Maltese or Westie mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that pups of these breed mixes are loving lap dogs, very smart and silly.. and make excellent and devoted family members. They fit well into a household and make great companions for all age groups. We're seeking an individual or family for Poppy that spends lots of time at home. She gets very attached to her family and feels much better being close. She will be the most bonded and loving companion ever..bringing so much joy with her loyal commitment to her people. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit ... (Read More)shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Poppy is lucky enough to have inherited the very sweet personality of the Maltese breed.. along with the curiosity and the ability to entertain of the Westie (they're so silly!). Poppy is so excited and attentive when her people teach her the wonders of her world. If Poppy is trained with a positive reinforcement trainer (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area) and given tons of love and socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs, she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful and well-adjusted companion. Poppy has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a puppyish desire to please. We'd like to place Poppy in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Poppy would also enjoy the company of a fun and respectful canine...she would love the playtime and companionship. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her lovely coat shining, cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Poppy be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Poppy's spay and microchip after her arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-29-00198Simon (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Simon. His smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. His tail appears to have a mind of its own (see photo) as it wags in pure joy as he greets humans and other dogs. Simon's rescuer was very quick to tell us that he is SO much more handsome than his photo. She said that he has the most beautiful, and very expressive eyes (they're gorgeous!). Once he has a much-needed bath and grooming, Simon will be the cutest guy around. This very sweet and really, really smart 18 - 24 month old, 18 lb guy is a truly great ... (Read More)companion. He's such a perfect age and size...old enough to be beyond puppyish behavior but young enough (and the perfect size) to be overjoyed with long hikes and neighborhood walks for many more years to come. Simon's rescuer described this gorgeous boy as just about perfect! She gave the following info about sweet Simon...Simon is an often calm, yet playful guy who really is so sweet and kind. He's a special love bug who wants nothing more than to warm your lap and be devoted and SO sweet! He's respectful in my house and has been very trustworthy with all humans and dogs that he encounters (untested with cats). He's wonderful with me, my husband, our 3 daughters (from 12 - 18 years old) and our 2 smaller dogs. Simon's lucky new family will be getting a true gem! We can picture Simon as the best friend to retirees. He'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share his love and good will on a daily basis. Simon would also do well in a family with dog-loving older kids and other gentle dogs. He'd love the fun and active lifestyle...a dog-friendly adventure would put Simon over the moon. There's also no question that Simon would be the most popular guy on the block. He loves to engage and just be his entertaining, adorable self. Even though Simon is usually up for pretty much any activity, he's not pushy or yappy. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks or hikes along Colorado mountain trails and mental stimulation that comes from his time with his humans is important to this guy to keep him happy and well-behaved. We'd like Simon's forever family to be either active retirees or a younger family that spends lots of time at home. He's a sensitive guy that truly bonds with his people...we feel that Simon would be much happier if he can spend a good part of his days enjoying his favorite people. This adorable Terrier mix appears to be a non-shedding guy (although it's difficult to tell for certain until his sad shelter hair grows out into a beautiful new coat). Simon will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning Yorkie coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Simon will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver -while we request it, there aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Kansas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Simon's neuter and microchip immediately after his arrival if our Denver vet is used. Simon will be arriving on transport in Denver on Thursday 11/30/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-26-00114Lainie-PENDING! (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Poodle...(with perhaps a bit of Shih Tzu in there for good measure) is a favorite of the mixed breed dogs. We all seem to love the combination of the amazing intelligence, outgoing nature and very loving personality of the Poodle combined with the cuddly cuteness and silliness of the Shih Tzu. Lainie is a great representative of these 2 popular breeds. Lainie's gorgeous silver and black coat lights up her adorable face and her bright and hopeful eyes. She is so lucky to have survived. Lainie was found wandering sadly through a Kansas neighborhood and a compassionate passerby thought she was doing the right thing in bringing Lainie to ... (Read More)a shelter. She had no idea that the shelter she chose was a very high-kill facility. At just about 2.5 years old and16 lbs, Lainie shines with an engaging and incredibly sweet disposition. She is an active girl whose tail never stops wagging once she feels safe and bonded in her situation. Lainie loves to be included in fun and would love nothing more than a hike or a neighborhood stroll with her family. She really enjoys gentle, respectful kids and would be an active participant in outdoor games in the yard or a walk to the park. Lainie also likes the company of other gentle, like-sized dogs and would always enjoy a spot in the sun or a shared walk. Somewhere along the line, we think that Lainie may have been given love and respect..probably because she's so capable of returning warmth and kindness once she feels safe. Her sad coat would speak otherwise however...it's possible that Lainie has never experienced the pleasure of a warm bath or the freedom from matts that a grooming provides. Since Lainie is a non-shedding girl (and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today), her family must assume responsibility for periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat cottony-soft and matt-free. We feel that Lainie would do well in any home that offered her love, time (long hours left alone at home wouldn't be in the best interest of this social and sensitive pup), appropriate exercise/ mental stimulation and positive reinforcement training would make her a very happy dog that can go out into the world. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Lainie's rescuer mom has said that Lainie is playful and loves fun. She is initially shy and must be given just a bit of time to assess the changes in her life and to understand that she's loved and respected. Lainie is excellent with people.. and when she's ready, she'll jump on your lap and lovingly give a sweet kiss. Lainie also loves taking walks, but still needs a bit more practice with positive reinforcement to walk without pulling on the leash. Lainie's rescuer mom said the following...I fell in love with Lainie the second I met her and felt her goodness. I loved her enough to strongly consider adding a 4th dog to our pack..but these thoughts weren't shared by my husband! Lainie is an absolute gem and a gift to any family. I hope she is adopted into a home that loves her unconditionally! Lainie won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Kansas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Lainie's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Lainie will be arriving on transport in Denver on Thursday 11/30/17. If interested in this sweet, engaging and very devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. If you're truly interested in adopting Lainie, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very loving, we can't help but think of Lily. Her smile is shining...and she's a world class lap dog. Lily's rescuer mom knows it's morning when Lily's little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a big kiss and a wag of delight. This curious and really, really smart 8 month old, 10 lb Terrier is such a great size..perfect for walks, playtime, cuddling.. and just right to take everywhere a sweet, smaller pup is welcome. Lily is a truly great companion...she loves humans and other gentle dogs and cats with all her heart. She was a ... (Read More)shelter favorite...with her very positive outlook and sweet, very loving ways - she had the opportunity to warm the lap of the shelter director who just adored this little girl. We picture Lily as the best friend to an active retiree. She'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share her love and good will. There's also no question that Lily would be the most popular girl on the block. Once comfortable, she loves to playfully engage and just be her entertaining, adorable self. Even though Lily is usually up for pretty much any activity, she's not a pushy girl. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks to socialize with neighbors..and mental stimulation that comes from time spent with her family will keep Lily happy and fulfilled. Lily derives so much joy from her relationships, we would love to see her in an active family that just loves her dearly...she's a great dog who deserves this in her life. It's also true that Terriers are wonderful. They tend to be so cute, very loving and engaging... and the most devoted of companions. If you combine that with the positive energy and inquisitive nature of all dogs... you end up with a very sweet and loving/loyal family member. Lily has been described by her Kansas rescuer as a great all around girl. She's appears to be house trained (we'll never swear to it however, when a dog is rehomed) and respectful of her home environment. Lily is a very loving and engaging companion to her rescuer mom, her 12 year old daughter and their 2 dogs and 2 cats. Lily appears to be non-shedding girl (although we can never swear to it). She will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil is perfect to keep her coat cottony-soft) to keep her gorgeous silver/black coat healthy and matt-free. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-26-00064London-PENDING! (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like young energy and silliness...and then at day's end, they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm doggie breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of these dogs in an extremely overcrowded high-kill shelter in Kansas. Farfel's was told about the great personality and over- the- top cuteness of this special pup and made the decision to help London find her first ever forever family. She was so frightened in the shelter and is now blossoming in her Kansas foster home. We expect sweet London to be shy and a bit hesitant after her long transport to Denver. With some kind words and ... (Read More)a soft hug...London will begin the process of trusting and bonding with her new family. London, at just about 12 months old and 12 lbs, was facing the possible end of her life just as it was beginning. ...she was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging mix (perfect for Terrier-lovers who love the breed for their lovely, often non-shedding coats and engaging, very loyal personalities) is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. London is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of the Terrier breeds. She's also bright and so loving (loves to cuddle in your lap-but watch out..young, joyful energy may call). London clearly has no memory of her scary early life. Since London is such a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. London will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through being exposed to many different situations out in the world. Positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes are perfect for a young dog (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area). It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're very open to London finding her forever home with active retirees with lots of time and energy to train and enjoy a young dog. London is known to enjoy children and therefore a family with older kids would also be perfect for her. Roughhousing with other dogs is always very fun for London...she'd love another playful (yet gentle) dog to run and tumble with. London is up to date on her vetting, but has yet to be spayed. We're hoping that she'll be fixed when she arrives from New Mexico, however a pup like London is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for London to be spayed and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. London will be arriving on transport in Denver on Thursday 11/30/17. If interested in this beautiful and very sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. If you're truly interested in adopting London, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-26-00056Kiwi (female)

Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are loving, smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household and make excellent and very loyal best friends. Kiwi is one of these cuddly and very sweet Terriers. The New Mexico vets believe Kiwi to be a West Highland Terrier mixed with a Yorkie. This is based on general look, body structure and personality..she's an engaging, playful and very silly and entertaining girl. Kiwi is so sweet in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. As you can see in her photo, Kiwi ... (Read More)has dark and expressive eyes (with so much wisdom) that speak of sensitivity..with underlying sweetness and fun. Once comfortable in her environment, Kiwi exhibits a love of life that knows no bounds. Wherever this joyful baby goes, she brings her positive attitude and fun-loving (occasionally mischievous) energy along with her. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Kiwi is one of these pups...she's a blank slate just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. Kiwi is such a great age and size... at just about 3.5 years old (a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life.. yet old enough to have left babyish behaviors behind) and weighs 8 lbs (perfect size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet and social pup is welcome). Kiwi has a beautiful, non-shedding (or perhaps very lightly shedding) coat...this is hard to tell for certain until her sad shelter hair grows into a well-cared for coat. Kiwi will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her scruffy, cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free. We envision Kiwi (due to her tiny size) with retirees or a family with older and very gentle kids. Kiwi is a girl who will respond to to very kind handling and time spent together. She would be overjoyed with a family that spends lots of time at home. She would therefore be a great fit for active retirees or a younger family that works from home or can bring a sweet, smaller pup to a dog-friendly workplace. Kiwi won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Kiwi's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Kiwi will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 12/2/17. If interested in a sweet and cuddly lap-dog and best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. If you're truly interested in adopting Kiwi, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-23-00046Cami (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Cami could be that dream come true pup for a family or retirees who love spending their time with a loving and very sweet companion. The Cairn Terrier/Australian Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart and fun-loving family dog. Cami's story is all too common in her extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Kansas shelter. But who could ignore her adorable manner and desire to bond (a bit shyly at first) with anyone who can be her best friend? Cami is an engaging and adorable nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated. She is such a wonderful being...we think she represents ... (Read More)some of the best qualities of the Terrier breed. Cami, with her loving attitude, seems to be in the process of leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. At about 2.5 years old and 16 lbs, Cami is a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would love to see Cami in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's learning about being social and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Cami would also be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Cami can be a bit frightened of the quickness of movements and loud voices of young kids...it is for this reason that we feel that Cami would be happiest in either an adult home or a home with older children. Cami will do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be a a long hike (she's the perfect size), a visit with friends, or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Cami's gentle temperament and loving ways. Cami appears to be a non- shedding pup..although it's a bit difficult to tell until she has the gift of great nutrition. She'll require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and vibrant. Cami won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Texas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Cami's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Cami will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 11/30/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-17-00067Boston-PENDING! (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Boston. His smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Boston's rescuer was very quick to tell us that he is SO much more handsome than his photo. She said that he has dark, expressive eyes that speak of hope for a brighter future. Once Boston has a much-needed grooming, his beautiful face will show the classic features of the Poodle and the scruffy cuteness of the Shih Tzu. This very sweet and really, really smart 18 - 24 month old, 15 lb guy is a truly great companion. He's such a perfect age and size...old enough ... (Read More)to be beyond puppyish behavior but young enough (and the perfect size) to enjoy long hikes and neighborhood walks for many, many years to come. Boston's rescuer described this gorgeous boy as just about perfect! She gave the following info about sweet Boston...It's amazing to me - Boston was turned into a very high kill shelter because he nipped the mailman. I've seen this before - a dog that has a wonderful temperament and yet takes a nip at a person in uniform. We don't know what happened between the mail carrier and Boston...but I do know that since he's been with me, he's been virtually perfect! Boston is a calm yet playful guy who really is so kind. He's a special love bug who wants nothing more than to warm your lap and be devoted and SO sweet! He's respectful in my house and has been very trustworthy with all humans and dogs that he encounters. He's wonderful with me, my husband, our 2 daughters (16 & 18 years old) and our smaller dog. Boston's lucky new family will be getting a true gem! We can picture Boston as the best friend to active and involved retirees. He'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share his love and good will on a daily basis. Boston would also do well in a family with dog-loving older kids and other gentle dogs. He'd love the fun and active lifestyle.. There's no question that Boston would be the most popular guy on the block. He loves to engage and just be his entertaining, adorable self. Even though Boston is usually up for pretty much any activity, he's not a pushy guy. Exercise..perhaps long walks or hikes along Colorado mountain trails and mental stimulation that comes from his time with his humans is important to this guy to keep him happy and well-behaved. We'd like Boston's forever family to be either engaged retirees or a younger family that spends lots of time at home. He's a sensitive guy that truly bonds with his people...we feel that Boston would be much happier if he can spend a good part of his days enjoying his favorite people. It is Boston's love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put him through Heartworm treatments..Boston's precious life deserves to be saved! Boston has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Boston as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special guy as he becomes healthily heartworm-free. This adorable Parti-Poodle is a non-shedding guy (considered by some to be one of the most hypoallergenic dogs available today). Boston will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Boston will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday 11/24. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this very sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Cavalier Mix    Age: Puppy

The Cavalier King Charles/Spaniel mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely loving and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...they're known for their great temperaments and extremely snuggly ways. They're also famous for being wonderful family pets... and very gentle with family members and other canines...and since they require a certain amounts of exercise and absolutely love being with their people, if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! They love socializing with neighbors ...and then at day's end, nothing's better than crashing on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and ... (Read More)canines. Maggie is an absolutely adorable and engaging girl who favors the coat and sweetness of the Cavalier while taking on the very engaging and cuddly qualities of the Spaniel breed. Maggie has the softest coat ever...and appears to be a lightly shedding pup. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and cottony-soft. As she loses the old hair of her shelter days, Maggie's coat will grow in shining and less likely to shed. Maggie was injured prior to her arrival at the shelter. She came in with a deep injury on her stomach...she's been treated by a vet and on antibiotics for the duration of her shelter stay. While her wound is doing much better, it will still require a bit more time to be perfect. Maggie's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes playmates everywhere she goes. Maggie is a social girl (once comfortable) and that means everyone she meets can be a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Maggie's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Maggie goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Maggie is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Spaniel breeds. While a just bit fearful over her earlier life, Maggie is very open to new friends and lots of love in her life. At about 9 - 12 months old and a perfect lap-sitting size of 12 lbs, Maggie has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Maggie in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's a true family girl and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Maggie would be a wonderful companion for retirees or a family with older, dog-loving kids who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Maggie doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Our sweet and beautiful Emma couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Emma is a 16 week old, 31 lb Australian Cattle Dog/German Shepherd (can't get a better family dog...estimated to be approximately 50 lbs when full grown) that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Both Cattle Dogs and German Shepherds have grown in popularity over the past few years. It makes perfect sense in that they're known for their great temperaments, incredible intelligence and loyalty.. and of course, love for their families. Farfel's rescues almost every Aussie Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix that passes their temperament testing with flying ... (Read More)colors... and is in need of our help with the confidence they will have great energy and be excellent family members. Emma has all these wonderful traits and was described by her New Mexico foster mom as... A perfectly wonderful puppy that will bring so much joy to a special family! Emma has had a challenging period of time in a high-kill New Mexico shelter but is now safe and soundĽ└%BD'Ľ└%BD|never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all, Emma doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Emma is so young, she's a blank slateĽ└%BD'Ľ└%BD|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Emma and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Emma be a companion that is well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Emma tends to be a loving and sensitive girl who loves life and responds so well to nurturing and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome)... and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Emma gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people for belly rubs and loving words. Emma loves to come along ..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a hike on a Colorado trail, a park or just socializingĽ└%BD'Ľ└%BD|Emma would love to be there as Companion #1. Emma wouldn't be happy spending long hours aloneĽ└%BD'Ľ└%BD|she is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. An active retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Emma would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a puppy, she'd also learn that she's loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Emma won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Australian Cattle Dog/Bernese Mountain Dog mixes (a designer breed mix that people love for their looks and intelligence) are a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely sweet and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...these breeds are famous for their temperaments and very loving ways. Since they require exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a hike or outdoor fun is the order of the day - count them in! Cattle Dog/Bernese mixes are known to run joyfully and energetically through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines. Tanner is ... (Read More)a beautiful and engaging guy who favors the intellect, fun and great medium size of the Cattle Dog while taking on the very loyal and engaging qualities of the Bernese. Tanner will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and cottony-soft. As he loses the old coat of his shelter days (as he's given the gift of a great diet), Tanner's coat will grow in shining and less likely for tons of shedding. Tanner's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. He is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Tanner's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his body ending in a smile. And if a place is available next to a favorite family member, up Tanner goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Tanner is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. At just about 9 months old and 28 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 35 lbs when full-grown), Tanner is a great guy who has left babyish habits behind while blossoming into a sweet and engaging pup who loves kind humans and gentle dogs with all his heart . Tanner seems to be leaving behind the lack of love and comittment that made up his early life. He has become a very huggable ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. We feel that group training class is so important for this active and very, very smart breed mix. As a very young dog, Tanner's exposure to force-free training will create the bond between a trained dog and his people that will enable him to have respectful behavior out in the community. We would like to see Tanner in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's very social and would thrive in a home that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Tanner would be an exceptional best friend for active retirees or families with older, dog-loving kids who have the time and desire to be best friends with a beautiful and very loving dog. Tanner doesn't require another dog to be happy (he really loves his people)...but does seem to enjoy his canine relationships with playful but gentle dogs. Farfel's has requested that Tanner be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for Tanner's neuter and microchip after his transport to Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Tanner will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 11/11/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
