Rescue Me ID: 17-11-19-00113Montana (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Montana has been an incredible learning experience for those of us who make it our life's work to save lives. He has taught us so many lessons about resilience and working together in the spirit of compassion. Montana is a gorgeous 8 month old, 45 lb Labrador Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog mix (anticipated to be approximately 50 - 55 lbs when full-grown). Montana would be the love of any dog-loving family with his great temperament and very friendly and engaging ways. Sadly Montana was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Because of his submissive nature, Montana was used as bait for fighting dogs...and then shot and left for dead.. ... (Read More)Montana's amazing spirit was still shining however...he was found in a field by a compassionate rescuer still hanging on and determined to live. Montana was brought to a Texas shelter with hopes of medical treatment and a warm spot. While expressing horror for the agonizing abuse that he had occurred, shelter vets worked on saving Montana's life. They worked miracles and each day Montana grows stronger...his loving and very friendly personality emerging and charming all who come to know him. It's getting to be time for Montana to begin the wonderful next chapters of his life. Emails starting flowing as his foster tearfully (she loves him so!) began the search to find a loving spot for this perfect puppy. Farfel's is lucky enough to be given the heart-warming job of finding a Colorado family that's a perfect match for this special dog. When we are asked about a rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Montana. His smile is shining more each day.. Montana's foster was very quick to tell us that he is SO much more handsome than his photo. She said that he has beautiful and expressive eyes with so much wisdom for a young dog..deep inside you can see that he has suffered pain. But not for him to be sad for long. His nature is to be positive and filled with fun. Montana foster described this gorgeous boy as just about perfect! She gave the following info about sweet Montana - Montana is calm and thoughtful, yet a playful puppy who through all his challenges, maintains his loving kindness. He's a special love bug who wants nothing more than to warm your heart and be devoted and SO sweet! He's very respectful in my house and has been wonderful with all humans and dogs that he encounters (cats are unknown). He's so loving with me, my husband, our 3 daughters (from 12 - 17 years old) and our 2 dogs. Montana lucky new family will be getting a true gem! We can picture Montana as the best friend to a very kind dog-crazy family. He'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share his love and good will on a daily basis. Montana would also do well in a family with very active retirees. He'd love the time spent together..having fun hiking and playing. Then at day's end, there's no better best friend then Montana..hanging out on the couch with his family is one of his favorite activities. There's also no question that Montana would be the most popular guy on the block. He loves to engage and just be his entertaining, adorable self. Even though Montana is usually up for pretty much any activity, he's not pushy or yappy. Exercise..perhaps long hikes or snowshoeing along Colorado mountain trails, and mental stimulation that comes from his time with his humans is important to this guy to keep him happy and engaged. We'd like Montana's forever family to be open to taking him to positive reinforcement training classes. They make such a difference in family bonding and learning skills that will serve Montana for the rest of his life. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force free trainers in your area. Montana will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 12/8/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this very sweet, loving and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-18-00106Freud (male)

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Freud is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a smile. Once he gets a sudsy bath and grooming...Freud will absolutely be one of the cutest guys around. At just about 6 years old old (such a perfect age..old enough to have left puppyish behaviors behind and young enough to have many, many active, healthy years ahead) and 22 lbs of fluffy cuteness. Freud is every bit the the happy guy...fun and active, but at the same time he tries very hard to be a well-behaved and personable pup (positive reinforcement training classes would be excellent for bonding and skills..Farfel's is happy to ... (Read More)provide a list of force-free trainers in your area). The universe was watching out for Freud when he was found wandering in traffic in New Mexico. A compassionate volunteer from the local shelter spotted Freud and responded immediately to save him from being hit by a car. She found out immediately that he's a very sweet dog who loves humans (he'll be temperament tested with other dogs/cats this week..we'll update with that information.) At this point in Freud's development, he loves people and literally goes into nirvana when he gets positive attention. We want to nurture this positive vision by matching Freud to a family who expresses their love for him in many different ways. We'd like Freud to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes...he'll be a star and we'd like him to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. Right now, Freud is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved dog around. We'd like Freud to be with an active family who will include him in their activities. With his easy-going nature, he will fit l into virtually any family...a family with older kids or active retirees would be perfect for Freud. Freud is so portable at 22 lbs that he can easily be a constant companion. He would love nothing more than walks or hikes, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Freud is sweet enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance, he can succeed. Freud will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver -while we request it, there aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Freud's neuter and microchip immediately after his arrival if our Denver vet is used. Freud is a non-shedding or lightly shedding guy (with the most stunning golden coat). It's difficult to tell about shedding for certain until his current sad coat grows out to be replaced by new, healthy hair. Freud will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Freud will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 12/2/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly best, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-17-00067Boston (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Boston. His smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Boston's rescuer was very quick to tell us that he is SO much more handsome than his photo. She said that he has dark, expressive eyes that speak of hope for a brighter future. Once Boston has a much-needed grooming, his beautiful face will show the classic features of the Poodle and the scruffy cuteness of the Shih Tzu. This very sweet and really, really smart 18 - 24 month old, 15 lb guy is a truly great companion. He's such a perfect age and size...old enough ... (Read More)to be beyond puppyish behavior but young enough (and the perfect size) to enjoy long hikes and neighborhood walks for many, many years to come. Boston's rescuer described this gorgeous boy as just about perfect! She gave the following info about sweet Boston...It's amazing to me - Boston was turned into a very high kill shelter because he nipped the mailman. I've seen this before - a dog that has a wonderful temperament and yet takes a nip at a person in uniform. We don't know what happened between the mail carrier and Boston...but I do know that since he's been with me, he's been virtually perfect! Boston is a calm yet playful guy who really is so kind. He's a special love bug who wants nothing more than to warm your lap and be devoted and SO sweet! He's respectful in my house and has been very trustworthy with all humans and dogs that he encounters. He's wonderful with me, my husband, our 2 daughters (16 & 18 years old) and our smaller dog. Boston's lucky new family will be getting a true gem! We can picture Boston as the best friend to active and involved retirees. He'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share his love and good will on a daily basis. Boston would also do well in a family with dog-loving older kids and other gentle dogs. He'd love the fun and active lifestyle.. There's no question that Boston would be the most popular guy on the block. He loves to engage and just be his entertaining, adorable self. Even though Boston is usually up for pretty much any activity, he's not a pushy guy. Exercise..perhaps long walks or hikes along Colorado mountain trails and mental stimulation that comes from his time with his humans is important to this guy to keep him happy and well-behaved. We'd like Boston's forever family to be either engaged retirees or a younger family that spends lots of time at home. He's a sensitive guy that truly bonds with his people...we feel that Boston would be much happier if he can spend a good part of his days enjoying his favorite people. It is Boston's love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put him through Heartworm treatments..Boston's precious life deserves to be saved! Boston has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Boston as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special guy as he becomes healthily heartworm-free. This adorable Parti-Poodle is a non-shedding guy (considered by some to be one of the most hypoallergenic dogs available today). Boston will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Boston will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday 11/24. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this very sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-16-00123Disco (male)

Lhasa Apso    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Lhasa Apso...with perhaps just a touch of Poodle for good measure.. is a perfect companion for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Lhasa Apsos were originally bred as an indoor monastery sentinel dog by Tibetan Buddhist monks. They are an alert, extremely long living breed (a Lhasa recently passed away at 29!) with a keen sense of hearing. The Lhasa temperament is a dog that's extremely bonded and loyal to their person..and would be perfect as a one-person companion. Disco's foster mom had the following to say about sweet Disco: Disco is a sweet and very affectionate 3 year old, 15 lbs dog that ... (Read More)loves to play (fetch is a favorite). He is very true to his Lhasa Apso lineage in that he falls deeply in love with his primary guardian..and then wants to protect them from others in the home who they perceive may want to hurt them. They're perfect companions for a person who lives alone and desires a full-time best friend. Their loyalty knows no bounds and they will show their undying love with great behavior and very loving and snuggly ways. Disco is completely house trained and always respectful in his home. When Disco is away from the home (doggy day care or meet-ups), he's perfectly friendly with everyone as he doesn't need to have concerns for the well-being of his person. Disco has had numerous boarding situations and has done very well. He does not guard toys, food or bones. He gets along well with dogs and cats and walks well on leash. He likes being brushed and is a favorite at his grooming salon. In Disco's current foster home, he has not exhibited any guarding behavior and lives in harmony with a Golden Retriever, a cat and a 4 pound maltese. Disco is fine with sleeping in a crate and sleeps like a rock star all night. If interested in Disco, please do research on the Lhasa Apso breed to determine if they're a match for your lifestyle. Disco will need a strong pack leader to show him the way. Training with a positive reinforcement trainer will be very helpful for bonding and letting Disco know that he can always trust his leader (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area). He's such a smart guy that he'd be valedictorian of his class! Disco is a great take-along guy..and such a great hiking/walking companion. Therefore if a hike or even a leisurely walk is the order of the day - count him in! Disco would be so filled with joy to run through the trails and over the streams in the Colorado mountains..or a neighborhood walk is also great for the quieter times. Then at day's end, there's nothing better then to crash on the couch snuggling close to his favorite person. Disco has the softest coat ever (with beautiful golden markings). He's a non-shedding guy and will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Disco is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Lhasa breed. At 3 years old (such a great age..old enough to have left puppyish ways behind and young enough to have many, many active years ahead). Disco has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Disco in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's social and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Disco would be a wonderful companion for a retiree who has the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable and extremely loving pup. Disco is currently in a foster home in the Denver area. If interested in this stunning dog who is so full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. If you're truly interested in adopting Disco, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an application. Thanks so much. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-14-00541Earl (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

One of our exceptional Texas rescuers saved the life of this adorable and very sweet Poodle/Bichon mix with hopes of him finding a new life in Colorado. His Texas family decided (after 9.5 years) that Earl no longer fit into their household...and off they sent him to a very high kill shelter. They appeared to have no regard that their longtime companion was very likely going to be euthanized. Earl is about 9.5 years old (such a great age..old enough to be very calm and past any babyish behaviors and young enough to have many healthy years remaining). Earl weighs 15 pounds of cottony-coat fluffiness..a perfect size for long walks on ... (Read More)neighborhood paths.. and then at day's end warming his favorite person's lap. Earl is such a devoted and smart little guy... a more relaxed and lovable Earl has emerged since he's been in his foster home. He has made progress each and every day and has become a well-adjusted guy who is open to new relationships and adventures. It makes a very big difference that his light exercise...and emotional needs are being met. Earl loves walks where he can socialize with dog-loving neighbors (won't he be perfect for those gorgeous days leisurely exploring the paths around his home?) and playtime that includes periodic hugs, praise and treats that make Earl feel so good about himself. Earl is such a fun and silly guy that we hope his new family will choose to spend lots of time enjoying his antics. Every day when Earl's foster mom comes home, she's greeted by a very happy and loving Earl..giving happy kisses and dancing a jig of joy. Farfel's Rescue has made the decision that we'd like to see Earl in a home with loving and devoted retirees that spends lots of time at home...or enjoy taking their furry best friend along. Earl is a perfect take-along size guy...it's so easy to just scoop him up and snuggle him under your arm. He enjoys the car and is very happy riding shotgun in the car. Earl is at his absolute best with adults. He's much more comfortable with quiet energy...a walk followed by time on the couch or bed watching a favorite TV show would speak to this little dog. He would be overjoyed to be part of a family of older folks. It would match his lower energy level and he would be a loyal, full-time best friend. Earl absolutely doesn't care for cats. He's compatible, however, with like-sized dogs with similar energy levels to his own...but he doesn't require these relationships to be happy. We wonder if Earl wouldn't be at his best as an only dog with a family that will shower full-time love and pampering on him. He would return that love and kindness a million times over as he falls more and more in love with his family. Earl is a non- shedding guy (and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today). Earl will therefore require a commitment to great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Earl is arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 11/17/17. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet and beautiful guy. If interested in this wonderful ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-14-00536Maggie (female)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Cavalier King Charles/Spaniel mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely loving and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...they're known for their great temperaments and extremely snuggly ways. They're also famous for being wonderful family pets... and very gentle with family members and other canines...and since they require a certain amounts of exercise and absolutely love being with their people, if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! They love socializing with neighbors ...and then at day's end, nothing's better than crashing on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and ... (Read More)canines. Maggie is an absolutely adorable and engaging girl who favors the coat and sweetness of the Cavalier while taking on the very engaging and cuddly qualities of the Spaniel breed. Maggie has the softest coat ever...and appears to be a lightly shedding pup. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and cottony-soft. As she loses the old hair of her shelter days, Maggie's coat will grow in shining and less likely to shed. Maggie was injured prior to her arrival at the shelter. She came in with a deep injury on her stomach...she's been treated by a vet and on antibiotics for the duration of her shelter stay. While her wound is doing much better, it will still require a bit more time to be perfect. Maggie's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes playmates everywhere she goes. Maggie is a social girl (once comfortable) and that means everyone she meets can be a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Maggie's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Maggie goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Maggie is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Spaniel breeds. While a just bit fearful over her earlier life, Maggie is very open to new friends and lots of love in her life. At about 9 - 12 months old and a perfect lap-sitting size of 12 lbs, Maggie has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Maggie in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's a true family girl and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Maggie would be a wonderful companion for retirees or a family with older, dog-loving kids who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Maggie doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Maggie won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Maggie's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Maggie will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 11/18/17. Shih Tzu    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

What a stunning girl Ella is! This 2 - 3 year old, 14 lb Shih Tzu/Terrier mix (Ella may very well be a purebred Shih Tzu...we're just not sure)) has the most beautiful face ever...gorgeous, dark and expressive eyes framed by her stunning Shih Tzu hair. Ella's engaging ways and sweet demeanor attract friends everywhere she goes...but her heart really lies with her family. That family can consist of very loving humans as well as gentle like-sized dogs to play with and enjoy...although Ella doesn't really require another dog for her happiness - she wouldn't mind being the one and only. She would bask in the attention that she's never had ... (Read More)before. Ella would love nothing more than to be the pup that goes everywhere with her people....walking, car rides, the park or window shopping would suit this girl. She's so portable that you can easily scoop her up, tuck her under your arm and be on your way. Ella can also fit perfectly into a carrier to be a companion on a plane ride to visit family or to a favorite vacation spot. She's so pleasant to spend time with that she would be a loyal and loving companion to take along just about anywhere. Ella is working with her foster mom on her house skills. She's doing well and is respectful within the home. Her New Mexico mom is also working on Ella's leash skills..she's learning and is loving her time outdoors in the sunshine. New adventures are always fun and exciting to Ella. We envision Ella in a home with dog-crazy retirees...it's not that she doesn't like kids but more that a quiet environment and a lap that's available for snuggling would truly speak to this devoted girl. We feel that Ella would thrive on being a family member that assumes a best-friend role within the household. Ella is always so willing and would assume her spot in the car (she loves that) for everything from just running errands to to an exciting dog-friendly fun time. Ella is a devoted companion and will love her new family members with all her heart. She will be there to cuddle, keep you company and be a truly present best friend. Ella is a non-shedding girl with a stunning coat that will show its beauty as she receives loving care. Ella will require a commitment to periodic grooming (this process doesn't make her happy..she will require a very kind and patient groomer) and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Ella won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-12-00082Bijou-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We often wonder what is running through people's minds when they make a decision to dump a wonderful and loving dog in a high-kill shelter because he's gotten older...where is their heart?? Such are our thoughts with Bijou...and it's only great luck and a few loving humans who changed his destiny. Bijou was relinquished to a dismal New Mexico shelter when he turned 2.5 years old and 10 lbs...he no longer had that puppy look so he was being replaced by a brand new Poodle baby. Just in time, a compassionate rescuer happened along the way and took pity on this sweet guy. To our joy, Bijou was meant to survive his ordeal...Farfel's was ... (Read More)contacted about this beautiful dog with the great temperament and we immediately accepted him into our rescue. Bijou was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested and passed all with flying colors. He is now safely in his foster home...being nurtured with love and hugs while being taught skills so important in the development of any dog. Bijou is so over-the-top beautiful and loving - his photos absolutely don't do him justice! Being a Poodle/Bichon mix, Bijou is a non-shedding guy and considered by many to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today. Bijou has become a great student in his foster home. He tries so hard and is learning more each day about home skills and that he's a very wonderful guy. His self-esteem is blossoming as he gets nurtured by his foster family. They're also providing Bijou with frequent socialization with both dogs and humans (he's made it clear he loves both). With this loving protocol, Bijou will continue along the path of a loving and well-adjusted adult dog. Positive reinforcement group training classes are an excellent tool for family bonding as well as developing great behavior when out in the community (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area). We are searching for an involved family for Bijou who will be willing to put time and energy into his development. He would love nothing more than being with his people...on their lap or next to them on the couch is a great secure spot for him. It will be dog-lovers who choose to have their dog very involved in their lives that would be perfect for this sweet pup. We feel strongly that Bijou not be left behind while his people spend long hours at work or other activities. He's very portable at 10 lbs and would be a great companion for walks, riding shotgun in the car, or visiting with dog-friendly friends. Bijou would be overjoyed with coming along with his person....errands, adventures or time at a dog-friendly workplace speaks to Bijou. Bijou just naturally has a sweet temperament (while initially a bit shy) that is perfect for a family with older dog-crazy children and other gentle dogs. Bijou would also do very well as an only dog...he doesn't require that relationship to be happy. He would be a great best friend and loyal companion to active retirees...he is so positive and affectionate that a relationship with Bijou is very easy - he really wants to please and is a very devoted best friend. Bijou won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Bijou's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Bijou is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 11/18/17. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-10-00453Emma (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our sweet and beautiful Emma couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Emma is a 16 week old, 31 lb Australian Cattle Dog/German Shepherd (can't get a better family dog...estimated to be approximately 50 lbs when full grown) that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Both Cattle Dogs and German Shepherds have grown in popularity over the past few years. It makes perfect sense in that they're known for their great temperaments, incredible intelligence and loyalty.. and of course, love for their families. Farfel's rescues almost every Aussie Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix that passes their temperament testing with flying ... (Read More)colors... and is in need of our help with the confidence they will have great energy and be excellent family members. Emma has all these wonderful traits and was described by her New Mexico foster mom as... A perfectly wonderful puppy that will bring so much joy to a special family! Emma has had a challenging period of time in a high-kill New Mexico shelter but is now safe and sound‰'Û|never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all, Emma doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Emma is so young, she's a blank slate‰'Û|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Emma and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Emma be a companion that is well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Emma tends to be a loving and sensitive girl who loves life and responds so well to nurturing and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome)... and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Emma gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people for belly rubs and loving words. Emma loves to come along ..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a hike on a Colorado trail, a park or just socializing‰'Û|Emma would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance enough to fit in just about anywhere . We envision Emma in a home that will provide her with exercise and mental stimulation. Emma wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone‰'Û|she is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. An active retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Emma would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a puppy, she'd also learn that she's loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Emma won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Emma's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Emma will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 11/11/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving best friend.. and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Friday is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this little dog is with a stunning golden coat with white markings...and the world's cutest ears! Once Friday gets a sudsy bath and a thorough brushing, he will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. At 9 - 12 months old and 7 lbs, Friday is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a very sweet, small dog is welcome. Friday is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a well-behaved and very happy guy (once ... (Read More)he's used to his environment). Friday is most likely to express himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this early point in Friday's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Friday to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like him to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area). We also feel Friday would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older, dog-crazy kids 10+ where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Friday is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Friday is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than long walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Friday is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Friday's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He requires behavioral guidance with boundaries and tons of love to give him a positive attitude about his world. Friday won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Friday's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Friday has the softest coat that you just want to pet all the time. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Friday is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 11/18/17. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Yorkie    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When Forrest's rescuer walked into her local vet's office, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Forrest tucked tightly into a cage. He had been turned into the vet for euthanasia due to food guarding. Forrest had been starved previously and was said to give a warning growl when his family's much larger dog tried to steal his food. She admitted that he had no aggression whatsoever...but she had to protect her Doberman from unfriendly small dogs. We're so glad that Forrest had the good fortune to part ways with this family! Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Yorkshire ... (Read More)Terrier/Terrier mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Forrest became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. At 2.5 years old and just about 10 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Forrest to a home that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a small, very sweet dog is welcome...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience classes will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Forrest and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Forrest gets lots of attention when he's out and about with his rescuer because he's a stunning guy. He's engaging (while a bit shy at first)...and as sweet as can be. Forrest looks exactly like a Yorkie..with perhaps a bit of other Terrier present. We would never swear to a breed mix..we just know Forrest is an adorable and fun scruffy guy that's irresistible! When Forrest turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Forrest 's style once he's acclimated to his new environment. It's clear that he is working hard on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult or retired family for Forrest. It's not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Forrest is more comfortable around quieter energy. Retirees or a person working at home would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that these groups often put into their pets. Forrest , once bonded, will be a loyal and very loving companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Forrest would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you weigh just about 10 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs. Forrest is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Forrest 's rescuer mom is very happy to report that Forrest is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Forrest will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Forrest won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Forrest's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Forrest will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 11/18/17. Cocker Spaniel    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

Our sweet and absolutely beautiful Layla couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Layla is a purebred chocolate Cocker Spaniel with the sweetest personality and a positive energy that draws people to her side. She's absolutely the shelter favorite...and that means she always has a warm spot in the shelter office and many loving admirers that tell her daily how wonderful and special she is. At 9 - 12 months old, Layla is just learning about the world. She's a blank slate that is soaking up the kind words and soft touches that she's experiencing for the first time. At 20 lbs, Layla is the perfect size to be a cuddly lap ... (Read More)dog...but when it's walk time, she's ready with a wagging tail and a huge smile across her beautiful face. We have so much to learn from the resilience of dogs. While Layla has had challenging experiences in this world, she is now safe and sound•À%BD'•À%BD|never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all•À%BD'•À%BD|Layla doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since she is so young, Layla is open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with her family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Layla and her people. Together they will learn the skills to have Layla be a dog that is well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. As is evident in her photos, Layla has cherry eye. Cherry eye is a disorder of the nictitating membrane (NM), also called the third eyelid, present in the eyes of dogs and cats. Cherry eye is most often seen in young dogs under the age of two. This condition causes the gland to prolapse and protrude from the eye. We've been in contact with our Denver vet to arrange surgery for Layla (this condition can readily be fixed through surgery). We've helped provide relief to many young dogs with cherry eye...all have gone on to enjoy lives free of this extremely uncomfortable condition. We're happy to cover all costs for this procedure. Layla is a fun-loving girl who looks ahead to a wonderful future of adventures with her forever family. Somehow Layla came out of the shelter with high self-esteem. She's a well-adjusted girl who seems to fit in no matter where she lands. Layla's eyes widen a bit as she takes in the new sights and sounds of her foster home while she waits for her transport to Denver...but with love (hugs and kisses are awesome), respect and of course some great treats, Layla is on her way to her favorite people's laps! She would also love to come along.....be it to a dog-friendly workplace, on vacation or socializing•À%BD'•À%BD|Layla would love to be there as a best friend. She has such a pleasant personality and, at 20 lbs, is very portable and low-maintenance. At home, Layla would be fine with sharing her family with other dogs. As long as they're gentle and respectful of Layla's smaller size...she enjoys her time with them. We envision Layla in a home that will provide her with exercise and mental stimulation•À%BD'•À%BD|other dogs help that with play and socialization. Layla would be overjoyed with walking through the beautiful Colorado mountains. She's the perfect size to be a natural-born hiker and would thoroughly enjoy her time with her people in the sunshine. Layla wouldn't be content spending long hours alone•À%BD'•À%BD|she's far too people-oriented to be happy with that lifestyle. A retired couple or individual or a person who works from home would be great. Layla would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being just a young girl, she'd also learn that she's loved and cared for•À%BD'•À%BD|a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Farfel's has requested that Layla be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since this area of New Mexico has very few vets, this may not be possible. Since Layla will be getting cherry eye surgery shortly after her arrival in Denver, it will be a good time to spay/microchip her as well. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs at our vet for these procedures. Layla will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 11/11/17. Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Candy would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that loving lap dog. At just about 3 years old, Candy is such a great age...old enough to be past puppyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many active years ahead. At 10 lbs, Candy is so portable that she can be a full-time best friend...accompanying her guardians everywhere a small and engaging dog is allowed. Through this socialization, Candy will be a bonded and well-socialized adult girl. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments...as well as so very cute...end up in precarious situations. Candy was a ... (Read More)last-minute save for us...she would have been euthanized in a dismal Texas shelter if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog is just so awesome with her whole life lying in front of her...a life in which she can bring so much joy to a special family. Candy, as a young girl, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With positive guidance and exposure to different situations, Candy will become a well-behaved and very bonded companion. She is just naturally an all-time snuggler, and will cuddle her way into any heart! Candy may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog...but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Candy with either active retirees (she would be overjoyed with time spent and being at the center of a loving family) or a younger family who works at home or would be able to take Candy to a dog-friendly workplace. A like-sized canine friend would be great as well. Candy would enjoy the companionship and the periodic play and cuddle times with a furry best friend. Candy appears to love kids and enjoys playing with them...however we would only be open to older kids who can be gentle and understanding that a tiny dog requires soft and kind handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside along beautiful Colorado paths ...Candy would love nothing more than to share the experience. Her rescuer is working on lessons around leash walking and Candy is growing more comfortable each day with the process. She is always up for a walk..fascinated by the activity around her. She breathes in the air...so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then...maybe her favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed close beside her favorite people. As a Poodle/Maltese mix, Candy is a non-shedding pup (and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today). As is evident in her sad shelter photo, Candy's coat hasn't been well cared for. Any family interested in adopting Candy will need to commit to coat care. She will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her hair cottony- soft and matt free. Candy won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Texas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Candy's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Candy will be arriving on transport in Denver on Thursday 11/9/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-06-00319Tanner (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Australian Cattle Dog/Bernese Mountain Dog mixes (a designer breed mix that people love for their looks and intelligence) are a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely sweet and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...these breeds are famous for their temperaments and very loving ways. Since they require exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a hike or outdoor fun is the order of the day - count them in! Cattle Dog/Bernese mixes are known to run joyfully and energetically through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines. Tanner is ... (Read More)a beautiful and engaging guy who favors the intellect, fun and great medium size of the Cattle Dog while taking on the very loyal and engaging qualities of the Bernese. Tanner will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and cottony-soft. As he loses the old coat of his shelter days (as he's given the gift of a great diet), Tanner's coat will grow in shining and less likely for tons of shedding. Tanner's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. He is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Tanner's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his body ending in a smile. And if a place is available next to a favorite family member, up Tanner goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Tanner is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. At just about 9 months old and 28 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 35 lbs when full-grown), Tanner is a great guy who has left babyish habits behind while blossoming into a sweet and engaging pup who loves kind humans and gentle dogs with all his heart . Tanner seems to be leaving behind the lack of love and comittment that made up his early life. He has become a very huggable ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. We feel that group training class is so important for this active and very, very smart breed mix. As a very young dog, Tanner's exposure to force-free training will create the bond between a trained dog and his people that will enable him to have respectful behavior out in the community. We would like to see Tanner in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's very social and would thrive in a home that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Tanner would be an exceptional best friend for active retirees or families with older, dog-loving kids who have the time and desire to be best friends with a beautiful and very loving dog. Tanner doesn't require another dog to be happy (he really loves his people)...but does seem to enjoy his canine relationships with playful but gentle dogs. Farfel's has requested that Tanner be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for Tanner's neuter and microchip after his transport to Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Tanner will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 11/11/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Cavalier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maizy was fearful as she came into a high-kill shelter in New Mexico. She's a sensitive girl...and through it all she seemed like an old soul as she took it all in. She was never nasty or snippy..just initially fearful of those who might hurt her. She soon found out otherwise and has spent part of her shelter time in the arms of shelter personnel...needless to say that she's a favorite and lap dog extraordinaire. It just isn't in her nature to be anything but sweet once she feels comfortable. Maizy, at approximately 6 - 6.5 years old and 15 lbs, represents the sad irresponsibility that is so present when pet guardians choose not to ... (Read More)spay/neuter...they're homeless and confused. These unwanted dogs deserve a great life every bit as much as any other living being. Maizy has a wonderful disposition and through it all, still has the desire to love and be loved. While initially shy for a moment..she comes around quickly with those who are kind and respectful. She loves to snuggle and show her devotion in so many ways. Maizy enjoys her relationships with gentle dogs as well...it seems that she derives confidence from being around these positive-energy pups. Maizy tries very hard to show that she's worthy of a permanent family to love and nurture her. Her little tail wags instantly when she sees a possibility for a pat or any kind gesture. She is overjoyed when she receives gentle attention...it brings a light to those concerned eyes! Farfel's is searching for that special family for this exceptional Spaniel mix (or at least that's what the New Mexico vet tell us..all we know is that she's so adorable!). Once Maizy gets a spa treatment for the first time..there won't be a more beautiful girl around. Her stunning golden coat will frame the kind glow in her eyes that speak of a gentle soul. We're seeking a family that wants to spend quality time with this exceptional girl. She would learn from the gentle guidance and time put in from people who love her...she'll return that devotion a million times over once comfortable in her new surroundings.. We feel that Maizy would enjoy retirees or a family with older dog-crazy children who will be gentle and loving toward the this sweet girl. Maizy will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

One of our exceptional Texas rescuers saved the life of this adorable Poodle/Maltese mix in hopes of transporting him to a wonderful new life in Colorado..he deserves it as he aced his temperament testing. His excellent (and sometimes silly) personality clinched the deal..and Dane is in a foster home preparing for his long transport to Boulder. Dane is just about 9 - 12 months old and 10 pounds of cotton-coat fluffiness. Dane is such a devoted and smart little guy... a relaxed and lovable dog has emerged since he's been in his foster home. He has made progress each and every day and has become a well-adjusted pup who is open to new ... (Read More)relationships and adventures. It also makes a difference that his nutritional, emotional and exercising needs are being lovingly met. Dane loves long walks (won't he be perfect for those gorgeous days exploring Colorado paths?) and playtime that includes periodic hugs, praise and treats that make Dane feel so good about himself and channels his puppy-like curiosity in a positive direction. Dane is such a fun and silly guy that we hope his new family will choose to spend lots of time enjoying his antics. Every day when Dane's foster mom comes home, she's greeted by an ecstatic Dane..dancing on his hind legs with love and joy. We'd like to see Dane in a home with loving and devoted retirees or a family with older children (after all, Dane weighs only 10 lbs and must be handled gently) that spend lots of time at home...or enjoys taking their furry best friend along. Dane is a perfect take-along size guy...it's so easy to just scoop him up and snuggle him under your arm or in a carrier. He enjoys the car and is learning his skills quickly to be trustworthy in all situations. Dane would be perfect for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a very loving and engaging pup. Dane's foster mom is working on his house training and general house skills to make him the well-behaved and engaged dog he has the ability to be. She speaks of him so highly...Dane is the sweetest lap dog ever. I just love him and can't get enough of his sweet company! Dane would do so well in positive reinforcement Obedience 1 class that will create additional bonding with his family on his path to learning behaviors that will make hims a great life-long companion. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. Dane is a non-shedding guy (Poodles and Maltese are two of the most hypoallergenic breeds available today) and will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cottony-soft hair healthy and matt-free. We've requested that Dane be neutered prior to his arrival in Colorado. Since Texas shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Dane's neuter and microchip after his arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Dane will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 11/3/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog. They're new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great New Mexico rescuer in saving Bella...she could see that her temperament was so kind and sweet that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized. The shelter recognized Bella for all her great qualities and wrote the following on her shelter card... Bella is a very cute (she will be gorgeous once she's bathed and groomed!) 2.5 year old Poodle/Havanese mix. She's such a great ... (Read More)age...old enough to be past puppyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many healthy, active years left. At a tiny 6 lbs, Bella is also a perfect size to come along anywhere a small and sweet dog is welcome. Bella is a blank slate pup that's open to anything. Once comfortable, she loves to play and be silly.. but will also love to just cuddle and get some serious hugs and belly rubs. She is just starting to learn about a leash and is starting to work on her basic commands like sit and lie down. Did we mention Bella is great with her foster parents... once she became acclimated, she turned into the sweetest and the most fun girl around! She would make a great addition to a family who is home a lot or loves taking a small, very endearing pup along. Bella is the kind of very loving pup that will lie close on the couch and give a periodic kiss...she's a very loving girl! She was immediately brought to be vetted and then to a great New Mexico foster home to receive pure love and begin her education. It turns out that Bella, at 2.5 years old and 6 lbs. (the perfect size to be a full-time companion) loves the trails. Her foster mom put her in a backpack and Bella was ecstatic to enjoy the trails from above.. and then after a fun day outdoors, Bella crashes on the couch (or on her favorite person's lap). Bella is open and curious about everything around her and SO smart! She's incredibly entertaining and enjoys her relationships when she gets going. If she continues this regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans, Bella will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion. FOSTER SUMMARY Bella is an adorable Poodle/Havanese mix pup who with grooming, great care and excellent nutrition will have a silky, shining non-shedding coat! This is a gift to those that suffer from allergy concerns. Bella's sweet demeanor is just who she is...she just appears to be analytical..and then overjoyed once comfortable in a new situation. If Bella is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted dog who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for our sweet girl. We also feel it's very important that Bella is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. We think that Bella would be a great match for retirees...she's a perfect size to be a lap dog and full-time best friend. We don't feel that Bella is a good match for families that work full-time outside of the home...she's too sensitive to spend long hours alone. We've requested that Bella be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Bella's spay and microchip after her arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Bella will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 10/28/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-19-00452Alex (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Alex the German Shepherd/Boxer mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In this photo, you're not aware of the striking golden colors that run through his soft as cotton coat - with grooming, care and great nutrition, Alex's coat will not only be silky soft..but shining with good health. Everything is new to Alex...he sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Alex is next to you on the couch or cuddling close as he sleeps through the night next to his favorite family members. Alex is so happy there because his human relationships ... (Read More)are so important to him. We have to remember that Alex came from a very tough and challenging shelter. As a result of unkind handling and harsh conditions, Alex may be initially a bit shy. Once he's assured that all is well, he becomes the most loving guy ever! Alex is a calm and always sweet dog that wants nothing more than kindness and love...he returns these loving sentiments to his family a thousand times over. This 4.5 year old, 64 lb German Shepherd/Boxer mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Alex is one of the kindest and gentlest people dogs around...he loves adults as well as kids of all ages. Alex would be the greatest gift to a child...he is always gentle, calm and the most loving best friend that any kid could ever hope for. We envision Alex with an active retired couple or individual or a family with school age or older kids who want a very handsome and loving dog as a family member and best companion. Alex would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people. Being a Shepherd mix, Alex loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. He would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please, that he would excel. Alex would be overjoyed to hike along gorgeous Colorado trails and paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. Alex can have a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and won't be abandoned ever again. Alex's basic nature is to be positive and very joyful.. and in moments his silly and fun nature takes over. We've requested that Alex be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Alex's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Alex will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 10/21/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving guy, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
