Rescue Me ID: 17-09-26-00143Chandler (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chandler is that perfect smaller sized dog that is so much fun to hike with..or walk on neighborhood paths (this little guy is extremely social)...and take just about anywhere a sweet, well- behaved family dog is welcome. Chandler is an 18 - 24 old, 12 lb very cute and fun-loving guy who is absolutely a pleasure to spend time with. This wonderful dog was almost forgotten in a high-kill shelter...no one seemed to notice the little dog in the back of a cage hidden by larger dogs. Chandler was finally scooped up by a kind shelter worker.. he gained recognition very quickly as a favorite with the shelter personnel. Special efforts were put ... (Read More)forth to get this pup with the great temperament on a transport to a new life in Colorado. It turned out that Chandler had been a neighborhood favorite...wandering the streets and stopping to politely accept treats and hugs. He was known as a sweetie-pie who would always welcome any kindness. Chandler was tagged just in time for rescue with Farfel's and preparations are being made for his long trip to Boulder. Chandler is currently with a foster mom who adores him. Her latest report read as follows: Chandler has become my best friend in a very short time! This small guy was identified as a Rat Terrier/Australian Cattle Dog mix (at least that's the consensus on this beautiful dog's breed mix...he's the size of a Rat Terrier with the markings and very positive personality of a Cattle Dog). My family and I are so thrilled to have Chandler's great and positive energy in our home. My 2 children (10 and 12) have never come home with such cooperation...and even excitement... to play in the yard and then share their homework time with Chandler inevitably snuggling close. Once Chandler is bonded (it may take a moment...but once he trusts and is comfortable..there's no better companion!) He becomes the most loving dog who is also a natural snuggle bug. I would recommend Chandler wholeheartedly to any fun-loving family with older kids (young children can pull tails and handle a smaller dog roughly...Chandler definitely prefers very gentle handling!) or a retired family who wants a truly lovable (and often silly and entertaining) companion dog for themselves and their family. Since Chandler is a perfect smaller- sized dog and the best activity partner ever (energetic and wanting to hang out with his family), he's large enough to accompany me on long walks, yet small enough to fit perfectly on my lap..or bed for a night's sleep. He's a loving, cuddly spirit who deserves the best life has to offer! Chandler is a lightly shedding guy who will require periodic grooming (he's so much more handsome than his shelter photo shows!) and great nutrition to keep his shining, cottony-soft coat healthy and as shed-free as possible. Chandler is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives, however there are too many dogs and not enough vets in this impoverished area of Kansas. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Chandler to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Chandler will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 10/10/17. If you're interested in this sweet, endearing.. and often very entertaining pup, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-26-00128Henry (male)

Pomeranian Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Pomeranian/King Charles Cavalier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart, adorable and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their intelligence, devoted temperaments and extremely loving ways. Both are also known to be trustworthy and generally very kind and playful with humans and other dogs. Henry is just a young guy and is learning about the ways of the world. He loves his neighborhood walks with his rescuer.. Henry is learning proper socialization skills - he's a very engaging and cuddly guy who draws a ton of loving attention and he eats it up! Any time a fun ... (Read More)adventure is the order of the day - count Henry in! He's just a young pup who can't wait to engage joyfully and energetically.. and then crash on the couch snuggling close to favorite humans and canines. Henry is as cute as can be and a very sweet guy who favors the look and loyalty of the Pomeranian while taking on the very intelligent and engaging qualities..as well as the body structure of the Cavalier. Henry will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement for Henry) to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Henry's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Henry is friendly (while perhaps initially shy) and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Henry's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Henry goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Henry is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. At about 18 months old and just about 15 lbs, Henry seems to be leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Henry in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he'd love to be involved and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Henry would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. Henry would be overjoyed to accompany his favorite people to the park, on neighborhood trails and even just riding shotgun running errands. Henry doesn't require another dog to be happy.(as long as he gets both physical exercise and mental stimulation from his people). He does, however, enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Henry is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however a puppy like Henry is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Henry to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Henry will arrive on transport in Denver on Tuesday 10/10/17. If interested in this very loving and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-21-00017Alfie (male)

Maltese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Alfie's euthanasia time in a dismal New Mexico shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate NM rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Alfie was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer, shelter workers and Alfie's foster haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Alfie, at about 18 months ... (Read More)old and 14 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. Alfie is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born walker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Alfie in a family with dog-crazy and respectful, older kids. Active retirees would also be great... they must enjoy spending their time with a comical and very loving and loyal best friend. Alfie will be a very family-oriented puppy if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home with family members would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with like-sized canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Alfie than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Alfie can be counted on to be a positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance pup whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. After passing his temperament testing and vetting with flying colors, Alfie is with his foster in New Mexico being taught some basic house skills. She has described him as incredibly smart..and a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? She did also say that Alfie may need a bit of time after his very long transport to Colorado to be his happy, playful and very loving self. Alfie is desperately in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushingë'█|. he will emerge with an amazing coat that will highlight his gorgeous golden markings that speak of his breed mix. Alfie will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Alfie is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however a dog like Alfie often falls through the cracks in this very poor area with too many dogs and not enough vets to neuter/spay them. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Alfie to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Alfie will be arriving on transport in Denver on Sunday 9/24/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-20-00678Patsy-ADOPTION PENDING (female)

Pug Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Patsy. Her smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Patsy's foster knows it's morning when her little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a big kiss and a wag. This curious and really, really smart 4 - 4.5 year old (such a perfect age..old enough to have left puppyish behavior behind and young enough to have many, many healthy years ahead) and 22 lb... such a great size - perfect for walks, playtime and just right to take everywhere a sweet pup is welcome. Patsy is a truly great ... (Read More)companion. There aren't many visible signs that she was in a very scary situation. She's sometimes shy and can hold back..but a warm hug and reassuring words..and Patsy bounces back and cuddles just a bit closer. We picture Patsy as the best friend to active retirees. She'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share her love and good will. There's also no question that Patsy would be the most popular girl on the block. Once comfortable, she loves to engage and just be her entertaining, adorable self. Even though Patsy is usually up for pretty much any activity, she's not pushy or yappy. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks to socialize with neighbors..and mental stimulation that comes from time spent with her humans will keep Patsy happy and fulfilled. Patsy would also enjoy time with gentle, dog-loving kids. She's an easy-going pup..but we wouldn't want her tail being pulled or anything but the gentlest of handling. Patsy derives so much joy from her relationships, we would love to see her in an active family that just loves her dearly...she's a great dog who deserves this in her life. It also appears (after some research on our part) that Pugs and Pug mixes are wonderful. They tend to be so cute, on the mellow side and the most devoted of companions. If you combine that with the energy and inquisitive nature of all Pugs and Puggles... you end up with a humorous, fun and loyal family member. Patsy won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Patsy's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Patsy will be arriving on transport in Denver on Sunday 9/24/17. We're currently accepting applications for this very sweet and loving dog. If interested in this cuddly and very loyal best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-19-00015Waylon-PENDING! (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Waylon. His smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. We know it's morning when Waylon's little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a huge kiss of love. This curious, sweet and really, really smart 18 - 24 month old, 6 lb Yorkie mix is a truly great best friend. He's the perfect size to scoop up and take anywhere a very friendly small dog is welcome. This togetherness with his favorite people will result in a dog that's extremely bonded..and very loyal to his family. We picture Waylon ... (Read More)as the best friend to retirees. He'd be so grateful for their time and attention. There's also no question that Waylon would be the most popular guy on the block...he's so engaging that people can't help from stroking his incredibly soft hair while Waylon's tail wags with joy. Once comfortable, he loves to engage and just be his entertaining and joyful self. Waylon would also enjoy time with older dog-loving kids...at just 6 lbs, gentle touches are always appreciated. His foster was excited to share that Waylon absolutely loves her 7 year old granddaughter..they happily played together every day of his foster. She felt that Waylon may be a better match with kids than with other dogs...he always loves children yet he's picky about his dog friendships. He may just be meant to be an only dog..and enjoy the undivided attention. Waylon would love walks through the Colorado mountains. He'll walk for a bit...and then you can grab a backpack and Waylon will snuggle down for a long hike with a great view from above. He derives so much joy from his relationships, we would love to see him in an active family that just loves him dearly...he's a great pup who deserves this in his life. Waylon's non-shedding hair will require a commitment to periodic grooming. With this care and great nutrition, his stunning coat will be cottony-soft, shining and matt-free. Waylon may not be neutered when he arrives on transport in Denver -this area of New Mexico has far too many dogs and not enough vets to fix these pups before they leave the area. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs to neuter and microchip Waylon at our Denver vet after his arrival in Colorado. Waylon will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 9/23/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-18-00192Clover (female)

Papillon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Papillon or Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breed mixes are loving, smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household (perfect size for low maintenance) and make excellent, very loyal companions for all age groups as well as other dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Clover is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a ... (Read More)great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. Clover is such a great age and size... at approximately 4 - 4.5 years old (such a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life yet old enough to have left her babyish behaviors behind) and weighs 15 lbs (great size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet and well-behaved small dog is welcome). Clover is lucky enough to have inherited the superior intelligence, curiosity and fun-loving nature of both the Terrier and Papillon breeds. She is so excited and attentive when her people teach her the wonders of her world. If Clover is trained with a positive reinforcement trainer and given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs, she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful companion and lap dog extraordinaire. Clover has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a puppyish desire to please. We'd like to place Clover in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Clover would also enjoy the company of a fun and respectful like-sized canine...she would love the playtime and companionship. Clover will love the trails and paths of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy long walks through the mountains or socializing on neighborhood paths). Window-shopping would also be great to fine-tune her urban skills and provide the socialization that is so important in the development of a dog's abilities. With feelings of security within the family, Clover will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return. Clover has the softest hair you can imagine. That being the case, she will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Clover be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Clover's spay and microchip after her arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Clover will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 9/27/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving and devoted best friend.. and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-18-00125Dillon (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dillon is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with his stunning chestnut coat with a chest of fluffy hair. Once Dillon gets a sudsy bath and a thorough brushing, he will absolutely be one of the cutest guys around. He appears to be a non-shedding or lightly shedding guy and will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/grooming and an excellent diet to promote a healthy, shining coat. At 9 - 12 months old and 15 lbs, Dillon is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet ... (Read More)smaller dog is welcome. He would love the interaction since Dillon is a very happy and social guy. And at day's end, he would love nothing more than to cuddle up on the couch to quietly enjoy his time with his family. Dillon is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a gentle, well-behaved pup. At this early point in Dillon's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Dillon to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Dillon to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area) to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. Right now, Dillon is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Dillon becomes so loyal once comfortable that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Dillon is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Dillon may not be neutered when he arrives on transport in Denver -this area of Texas has far too many dogs and not enough vets to fix these pups before they leave the area. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs to neuter and microchip Dillon at our Denver vet after his arrival in Colorado. Dillon is arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 9/27/17. Applications are being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this very loyal and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-16-00386Charlie-PENDING! (male)

Shih Tzu    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There are many, many Shih Tzu lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be one of the most desirable of breeds. This is due to their consistently great temperaments and overall intelligence. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their beautiful non-shedding coats and their soft, expressive eyes. Charlie is an extremely cute Shih Tzu. It's difficult to tell in this photo (due to his shaved coat because of matts) but once his hair grows out, Charlie will have the gorgeous, cottony-soft coat of his breed. Charlie is about 7 - 7.5 years old (such a great age..past babyish behavior with many, many healthy ... (Read More)years ahead) and just about 14 lbs... and so kind and waggy with all the people that he got temperament tested with. It was very tragic that his guardian suddenly passed away but he seems to have overcome any ill feelings and appears to be at peace regarding the challenges of his earlier life. The Shih Tzu is a solid combination both physically and in stability of temperament. It is for this reason that they seem to acclimate to change and be outstanding family members. It's safe to say that Charlie has learned to live in happy harmony with both humans and dogs... and seems to have derived a true peace from overcoming the trials that he's experienced. We feel strongly that Charlie's forever family should have the motivation to continue his socialization and offer him the gift of positive reinforcement group obedience training classes. Through these clear boundaries and leadership by his humans, Charlie will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so gorgeous both inside and out and deserves a family that appreciates the gift of his temperament and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We are searching for an active family...either retirees or a younger family with older, very gentle dog-loving kids. Another like-sized, fun doggie playmate and a fenced yard would be great for Charlie. He (like all dogs) is happier and therefore more well-behaved if he's fulfilled with exercise and fun followed by snuggling with his favorite people. It would be a family who spend lots of time at home (or chooses to take a sweet dog with them to dog-friendly situations) that would provide a great forever home for Charlie. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. Charlie will arrive on transport in Denver on Saturday 9/24/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Cavalier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're unwanted and at risk of euthanasia by their family. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great New Mexico rescuer in saving Arri...she could see that his temperament was so sweet and kind that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Farfel's was immediately contacted by Arri's rescuer...after which this adorable baby was brought to transport on his way to safety in Boulder . It turns out that Arri, at only 7 weeks old and 3 lbs (expected to be approximately 10 - ... (Read More)12 lbs when full-grown) is very calm and so very sweet that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for his rescuer. Arri is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If he continues this regimen of socialization that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Arri will become a well-adjusted and very loving adult companion. Arri is a gorgeous Cavalier/Toy Fox Terrier mix puppy (this was only a guess by the vet) with a shining, cottony-soft coat that speaks of good health. Arri's sweet and cuddly demeanor is just who he is...he just appears to be more snuggly and mellow than your average crazy puppy. If Arri is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-adjusted guy who respects his people as his leaders. A family that loves Arii like crazy is exactly the type of folks we're searching for for this silly, entertaining and very loving puppy. We also feel it's very important that he is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. Arri will be overjoyed when his future holds walks along Colorado paths enjoying the sunshine. Socializing with dog-loving neighbors will definitely speak to the engaging nature of this adorable puppy. We'd love a family for Arri that spends lots of time at home.. and chooses to include a fuzzy best friend in their activities. Arri can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community. He can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere with the assurance that he'll be a loving and social guy. Arril will be arriving in Boulder unfixed due to his very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to his neuter, microchip and any additional puppy shots he might require if our Denver vet is used. Arri will require a commitment to periodic grooming. Lots of sudsy baths and serious brushing combined with great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great!) will keep this puppy's coat healthy and silky-soft. Arri will be arriving in Boulder on Saturday 9/9/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and devoted best friend (and amazing lap dog). An application can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Fox Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Joey the Fox Terrier/Corgi mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In these photos, you're not aware of the silky and shining black coat with a whitest of white cottony chest. It is with grooming, care and great nutrition that Joey's coat will continue to blossom with good health. Everything is new to Joey...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, he is next to you on the couch or better yet, on a welcoming lap. He's so happy there because his human (and canine) relationships are so important to him. This ... (Read More)12 - 18 month old, 10 - 12 lb Terrier mix truly lights up when he feels likes he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Joey is working on mastering his house skills. Joey's foster mom has the following to say about this very sweet guy: Joey is doing great. He's still a young guy who just needs patience and love.. and he blossoms. I sit with him and we talk about what a wonderful pup he is and what a great future he has to look forward to...I'm not kidding that I think he understands! Just a tiny bit shy initially (but he should be after what he's been through)...and then the sweetest love! Joey is so kind and cuddly... belly rubs and treats also are a gift to this dog who has never had this kind of nurturing. Joey really enjoys (and even loves) my 2 dogs and they all have the greatest time playing in my yard. Joey is very respectful of them. I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of his respect and gentle nature - when they tell him they have had enough play time, Joey backs off and keeps himself busy in a positive way. You would also expect a young Terrier mix to be a bit crazy with lots of energy..this isn't the case with Joey. He has exactly the right amount of energy. He's so responsive..if he jumps on me, I just have to say no and he responds. He also learns a general command in about 2 minutes..no kidding. It must be about the natural intelligence (and inherent great personalities) of these Terrier-type dogs. I actually think Joey is somewhat calm for a young guy. He loves to play (once comfortable), run and beginnings of fetch...but then loves to cuddle equally. His temperament is really developing! I just have to walk into the room and glance at him...it's head to toe waggy tail and huge smile. He is such a sweet pup - anyone who welcomes Joey into their home is truly getting a gem of a dog! Joey's SUMMARY - Joey is such a people dog. He enjoys quiet kids of all ages (no tail-pulling please) but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Joey with active retirees or a family with a bit older kids who want a beautiful and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his family. Being a Terrier mix, Joey loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. He would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please..he would excel. Joey would also be overjoyed to walk or hike along Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. His nature, while it can be initially a bit shy, quickly becomes very joyful and his silly and fun nature takes over. This guy's a gift of love for a kind and committed family! We've requested that Joey be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. In fulfilling our commitment to zero population growth, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for spaying and a microchip for Joey if our Denver vet is used. Joey will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 9/9/17. If interested in this fun-loving, sweet and very devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-06-00590Dahlia (female)

Lhasa Apso Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix is an extremely smart and loyal family dog with that additional teddy-bear flair. Of utmost importance...Lhasa/Poodle mixes are famous for their great personalities and extremely loving and snuggly ways. This mix is also known to love being a part of a family...so great with their beloved people and other family pets. And since they require a certain amount of exercise (like all dogs) and love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! Dahlia would truly enjoy cruising the neighborhood paths and trails...and then crashing on the couch snuggling close to her favorite humans and ... (Read More)canines. Dahlia is an absolutely adorable and engaging girl (so sorry about her sad shelter photo. We've requested a new one to show how truly beautiful this sweet girl is) Dahlia is a non-shedding pup and will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement) to keep her coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. As she loses the old hair of her shelter days, Dahlia's coat will grow in cottony-soft and very shiny. Dahlia's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes close playmates everywhere she goes. Dahlia is social (perhaps initially just a bit shy).. and that means everyone she meets ultimately may become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Dahlia's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Dahlia goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Dahlia is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of both the Lhasa Apso and Poodle breeds. At about 10 years old (such a great age..old enough to have left behind puppyish behaviors and young enough to have many active years left) and 15 lbs, seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. Dahlia has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Dahlia in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very pleasant and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Dahlia would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Dahlia doesn't necessarily require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Dahlia appears to have had some challenges with her eyes for quite a while. Her vision isn't very good and she will therefore require drops in her eyes twice a day. This doesn't seem to bother her in the least (always a very happy and grateful girl). She doesn't know that her vision is limited...she gets around really well and fully participates in life. The responsibility for her guardian is to purchase her eye drops (not very expensive) and to be responsible for putting them in twice each day while wiping her eyes with an eye wipe or a damp cloth. This is not a difficult task and will be made even easier by the desire to help Dahlia...she is the most lovable and sweet best friend anyone who has ever met her can imagine! Dahlia is currently in a foster home in the Denver area.     Our sweet and beautiful Pippin couldn't be more of a love bug no matter how hard she tried. Pippin is a 9 - 12 month old and 8 lb Schnauzer/Yorkshire Terrier mix (such a great size to be a take-along girl) that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Pippin has all these wonderful traits and was described by her Texas rescuer as a perfect lap dog and as sweet as can be. Pippin had a challenging period of time early in her life, but is now safe and soundë'█|never to be cold or hungry again. And with it allë'█|Pippin doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the very best companion possible. Since Pippin is very young, she's somewhat of a blank slateë'█|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Pippin tends to be a happy girl who loves life and responds so well to nurturing and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome)... and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Pippin gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people's lap for belly rubs and soft touches. Pippin loves to come along (and is very portable at 8 lbs)..be it on a walk to socialize, running errands or just hanging outë'█|Pippin would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance enough to fit in just about anywhere. We envision Pippin as an only-dog..or together with a like-sized, very gentle dog in a home that will provide her with tons of love, exercise and mental stimulation.
