Rescue Me ID: 17-07-27-00016James (male)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about James were his gorgeous eyes so filled with wisdom..glowing in the dim shelter light. She stared at James for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this very handsome Terrier mix. This photo definitely doesn't do this beautiful dog justice! A spa day is in order - underneath the shelter matts and filth is a gorgeous Terrier mix with with shades of apricot running through his cottony hair. James will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his scruffy cost soft and matt-free. James immediately wants to make it clear that he's a LOVE! His adorable ... (Read More)little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile. James was brought out of his cage.. and before you know it, he was in our rescuer's lap. He was somewhat shy and a bit frightened.. but was so happy for the hug and sense of safety. This 9 - 12 month old, 13 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send him over the moon. James truly wants to be a family dog....he will be overjoyed that he's finally found his forever home. We are searching for an adult-only.. or a home with older, dog-crazy kids for this very sweet pup. It's not that James doesn't like young children.. but he can become a bit overwhelmed by rowdiness and very loud voices . We envision James with a retired couple or individual who wants an adorable young dog as a family member and best friend. James would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people....he's calm enough to spend some afternoon time snoozing on the couch or would be even happier to go for a long hike on mountain trails or neighborhood paths. Just as long as he's with his special people, James is a very happy and loyal guy. James rescuer had the following to say about this wonderful little guy: James is such a cute little dog! He's super friendly! James just wants you to play with him and then hold him tight (perfect lap dog!) He is an energetic guy like most JRT's (but not over the top) and loves the people who are kind to him with all his sweet heart. James isn't at all temperamental..just a great guy who loves to please.! James does really well with other dogs and LOVES people! He would be a perfect office dog in a dog-friendly workplace. There's no question that James would be well behaved and respectful (as long as he can sleep on your feet...great foot warmer). James can occasionally have a moment of shyness from the changes in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great pup past any insecure feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned again. James may not be neutered when he arrives on transport in Denver -this area of Kansas has far too many dogs and not enough vets to fix these pups before they leave the area. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs to neuter and microchip Brady at our Denver vet after his arrival in Colorado. James will arrive on transport in Denver on Tuesday 8/1/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this very sweet best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-25-00155Rigby (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Rigby's euthanasia time in a dismal Texas shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate Texas rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Rigby was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer and shelter workers haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Rigby, at 18 months old and 35 lbs is the ... (Read More)perfect size to take along just about anywhere. He is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born hiker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Rigby with a very active family that can provide space for this very smart herding dog...maybe a ranch or an involved guardian who wants a loyal companion to run the trails with or have fun on rides or hikes in the open spaces. Rigby would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, hiking vacations or just hanging out at home after some fun exercise would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or socializing with playful canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Rigby than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Rigby can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home that will provide training, exercise and mental stimulation for this very smart dog. He is a very loyal guy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. Rigby would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since his desire to please is so strong...and it would create that special bond that exists between a trained, respectful dog and his people (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved trainers in your area). After passing his temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Rigby is with his foster in Denver being reminded of some basic house skills. His rescuer has described him as a love bug that deserves the gift of training to make make him the best dog he's capable of being....can we possibly say more? Rigby is in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing‰'Û|. he will emerge with an amazing coat that will highlight the gorgeous merle and markings that speak of his breed. Rigby will require a periodic bath and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy and cottony-soft. Rigby is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from Texas, however most often a dog's euthanasia date arrives before their neuter date. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Rigby to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Rigby will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 7/15/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving guy, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-25-00102Elvis (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Dachshund/Cairn mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...they're famous for their great temperaments and snuggly ways. Elvis is a great representative of his breeds..he's a very loving and extremely sweet guy who is very gentle with family members and other family pets. Being a happy-go-lucky and energetic pup, Elvis requires a certain amount of exercise...therefore if a hike or a leisurely walk is the order of the day - count him in! Elvis would be so filled with joy to hike the trails and over the streams in the Colorado mountains...and then crash ... (Read More)on the couch (or a loving lap) snuggling close to his favorite humans and canines. Elvis is an absolutely adorable and engaging puppy who favors the scruffy coat and fun, silly personality of the Cairn while taking on the very engaging qualities that make Dachshunds one of the most popular breeds available today. Elvis appears to be a non-shedding or very lightly shedding pup (although it's difficult to tell for certain until his sad shelter coat grows out). He will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, so shiny and matt-free. As Elvis loses the old hair of his shelter days, his coat will grow in with that wonderful feel and look of a truly healthy coat and will be far less likely to shed. Elvis's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. Once he's comfortable, Elvis is a social and comical puppy.. and that means everyone he meets ultimately may become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Elvis's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Elvis goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Elvis is such a wonderful little being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. At just about 5 - 6 months old (such a great age..old enough to be leaving puppyish ways behind and young enough to be a blank slate..absorbing new ideas and learning the skills to be a great adult dog that can accompany his family everywhere a sweet, socialized dog is welcome. Elvis currently weighs 12 lbs with an anticipated full-grown weight of about 16 - 18 lbs. Elvis seems to be leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He is becoming a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Elvis in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's learning social skills and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Elvis would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable puppy. They could teach him about the world..and he would be the most bonded guy around. Elvis would also do well with a younger family who would want to include a sweet fuzzy guy in their activities. We feel that Elvis is too sensitive to be left alone while his family works full-time outside the home. He would thrive on more time together. Elvis doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Elvis will be arriving in Denver unfixed due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this very poor area of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Elvis's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Elvis will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 7/29/17. If interested in this very sweet guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a Dachshund or Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breeds and breed mixes are loving, super- smart and wonderful best friends. They tend to fit well into a family setting and make excellent companions for virtually every activity. When Farfel's got word that Banjo was in need of rescue and had passed his temperament testing with flying colors, we immediately stepped up. Banjo was immediately brought to a foster home to be loved, reminded of house skills and nurtured with soft words and lots of positive reinforcement that he's a very important puppy. Banjo is ... (Read More)just 6 months old...such a great age - old enough to be able to understand and implement adult skills and young enough to be a blank slate just waiting for guidance to be a great companion out in the world. Banjo currently weighs 11 lbs with an anticipated full-grown weight of approximately 18 - 22 lbs... a perfect weight to accompany his family just about anywhere a small, well-behaved guy is welcome. At the end of the day, Banjo is the greatest and most loving lap dog and couch companion around. Banjo is a great student and just waiting for a forever family to teach him the wonders of his world. If he is trained with positive reinforcement group training classes (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area), and given lots of kind attention, socialization with both humans and other dogs...he will turn into a self-confident guy who will be a wonderful companion. Banjo has all the elements working in his favor since he's starting out with a great temperament and a puppy-like desire to please. Farfel's would like to place Banjo in a home with either active retirees or a very involved family with older and very gentle kids who are motivated to provide Banjo with physical exercise and mental stimulation. With love and consistency, Banjo will also be comfortable with being alone and know that his family will always return. He'll learn this with consistent behavioral guidelines and kind boundaries present in his life. Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Devon's euthanasia time in a dismal New Mexico shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. We envision Devon with a family with dog-crazy and respectful, older kids. Active retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical and very loving puppy would be great as well. Any family that chooses to adopt a Cattle Dog puppy needs to be aware that these dogs are both extremely smart and loving as well as very energetic. This being the case..they require exercise and boundaries. It makes a noticeable difference if these puppies are given the benefit of positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by group obedience classes. We are happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force free) trainers in your area. Devon will be a very family-oriented puppy if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with like-minded canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Devon than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Devon can be counted on to be a positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance puppy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. After passing his temperament testing and vetting with flying colors, Devon is with his rescuer in New Mexico being taught some basic house skills. His rescuer has described him as incredibly smart..and a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They did say that Devon may need a bit of time after his very long transport to Colorado to be his happy and very loving self. Devon is in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing‰'Û|. he will emerge with an amazing coat that will highlight the gorgeous blue merle markings that speak of his breed. Devon will require a commitment to periodic baths and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy and cottony-soft. Devon is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however a puppy like Devon is often deemed too young to fix. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-23-00067Sheba (female)

American Eskimo Dog    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

When Sheba's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the terrified yet adorable (and so sad-looking) Sheba tucked tightly into a cage...her time was up due to lack of space. Farfel's Rescue immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this pup is..and the need to save her life. We immediately agreed and Sheba became a very treasured Farfel's dog. She earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with her great personality (although initially a bit shy..who wouldn't be?) and her kind attitude toward the world. At just about 7.5 - 8 years old (perfect age..old enough to have ... (Read More)left all babyish behaviors behind and young enough to have many active, healthy years ahead) and a perfect couch-cuddling size of 19 lbs, this beautiful girl is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog she's capable of being. We'd love to match Sheba to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable pup..she will fall completely in love with her special people and there's no more loyal companion around than Sheba. She's a perfect size to accompany her family just about anywhere...and would love it. Sheba has gotten a ton of hugs and attention at the shelter..and pretty much everywhere she goes. You immediately know she's sweet...and just a touch vulnerable right now. It's clear that she hasn't been given the pure love that she so deserves... and we can't wait for a great individual or family to make her the diva she should be. After some great nutrition and a spa day, Sheba will have the stunning pure-white, very healthy and cottony-soft coat that speaks of her breed. When Sheba turns her gentle (yet very wise) look in your direction, you can't help but smile at her soft gaze and gentle ways. You can see just a touch of a sign that this dog has had difficult times. But not for her to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Sheba's style. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family (or with older, very gentle kids) for Sheba. She does very well if initially, she's allowed to progress at her own speed. It frightens her when people grab at her...initial slower movements with a loving voice will make this girl your very best friend. An active retired couple or individual would be perfect for this beautiful girl. She would thrive on the time and attention that she could share. Sheba is a very loyal and extremely loving dog..that makes her easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Sheba would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who could be gentle playmates. When you're only 19 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious dogs. Sheba will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 7/28/17. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful Sheba. If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-21-00130Max (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Max could be that dream come true pup for retirees who enjoy spending their time with a scruffy and adorable guy who is very loving and engaging (once comfortable). There's no question that he would also do well with gentle, dog-loving older kids who enjoy the fun and snuggles that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We want to make certain that Max is handled kindly and respectfully...he'll return that loving treatment a thousand times over with snuggles and sweetness. Max does like playing and is entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to show to everyone he knows once he is comfortable in his ... (Read More)situation. Max's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Texas shelter....but who could ignore his cuteness, adorable manner and desire to bond with anyone who could be his best friend? Max is initially a bit shy..but give him a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome Texas rescuers recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. At about 12 - 18 months old and 15 lb, Max is a perfect size for walks ,hiking and outdoor fun..and then at the end of the day would enjoy nothing more than a warm lap or a spot on the couch next to his favorite person. Max would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. We are searching for a family where home is a favorite place.. or they'd like to take along a cute fuzzy guy wherever a sweet little dog is welcome. Max would be the most committed and loving best friend..and would be overjoyed with the opportunity to come along and be part of the fun. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a visit with friends, a car ride, a vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch. All of this would speak to Max's sweet temperament. We aren't open to a home where the family members spend their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Max to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Max is a non-shedding guy with the beautiful..and cottony-soft white and brindle colored hair that represents his breed mix. Max will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is excellent). With this care, Max's coat will be so soft and shine with good health. Max has been fully vaccinated.. but hasn't received some of the vet care that is needed due to a lack of funds in this little Texas town. Max has cherry eyes which is a protrusion of the third eyelid commonly seen in dogs under the age of two. It's very fixable and has no long-term affects of any kind. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Max's cherry eye repair as well as his neuter/microchip if our Denver vet is used. Max will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 7/29/17. Applications and inquiries are currently being accepted for this very loving and loyal best friend. An adoption application can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are loving, smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household and make excellent companions for all age groups as well as other dogs. Alice is one of these cuddly and very sweet Terriers. The Texas vets believe Alice to be a Yorkie (based on body structure and personality..she's a playful and very silly/entertaining girl) mixed with a cottony-soft Maltese diva. Alice is so puppyish in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. As you can see in her photo, Alice has a ... (Read More)smile that stretches ear to ear..and a love of life that knows no bounds. Wherever this joyful baby goes, she brings her positive attitude and fun-loving (occasionally mischievous) energy along with her. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Alice is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. Alice is such a great age and size... at 7 - 9 months old (a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life yet old enough to have left most babyish behaviors behind) and weighs 10 lbs (perfect size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet and very social pup is welcome). Alice has a beautiful, non-shedding (or perhaps lightly shedding) coat...this is hard to tell for certain until her sad shelter hair grows into a well-cared for coat. Alice will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her scruffy, cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free. We were unable to get an appointment for Alice's spay/microchip in New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all vet costs for this procedure if our Denver vet is used. Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

When Scarlet's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Scarlet tucked tightly into a cage...her time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Terrier is..and the need to save her life. We agreed and Scarlet became a very treasured Farfel's dog. She earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with her great personality and kind and positive attitude toward the world. At about 12 - 18 months old and 11 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best ... (Read More)dog she's capable of being. We'd love to match Scarlet to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable girl. She's a perfect size to accompany her family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience classes will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Scarlet and her family. Scarlet gets lots of attention when she's out and about...she's very engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. She's also extremely eye-catching...Scarlet appears to be a Cairn Terrier/Scottish Terrier (Scottie) mix..but we would never swear to it. When Scarlet turns that gentle look in your direction, you can't help but smile at her sweetness. You can see just a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for her to be negative..a smile and a wag..followed by a jump into her favorite person's lap is more Scarlet's style. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family or one with older, dog-crazy kids 12+ for Scarlet. It''s not that she doesn't like young kids...we just feel that Scarlet wouldn't be comfortable with any tail-pulling or awkward carrying. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this girl. She would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Scarlet, once bonded, will be a loyal and very loving companion....that makes her very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Scarlet would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 11 lbs, even a very well-adjusted dog can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious pooches. . Scarlet has a beautiful black coat that requires some care. A commitment to bathing/brushing and great nutrition will result in a beautiful coat that will be shiny and cottony-soft with very little shedding. Scarlet is arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 7/21/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving girl and can be found at thahttp://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-13-00282Einstein-PENDING! (male)

Border Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside & out) Terrier mix wandering the streets of New Mexico..so cold and searching for a kind face. A compassionate passer-by took Einstein in and nursed him back to health...she came to also love him and care about his welfare. We're positive that she had no idea that she was bringing him to a high-kill shelter when she dropped him off thinking he'd get a great new home. Farfel's Rescue was contacted about this wonderful Terrier...our NM rescuer met Einstein and came to fall in love with this awesome guy who just naturally puts positive feelings into the world. Farfel's responded and will be ... (Read More)transporting Einstein to Colorado and a new life. Farfel's Rescue agrees that Einstein deserves only the best after so many challenges in his short life and has agreed to participate in his rehoming. Wonderful Einstein is one of the sweetest Terriers around...and the very popular Terrier breeds are acknowledged to be among the top mixes as a family pet. Terriers have the cutest scruffy faces and often non-shedding or lightly shedding coats. They're also widely known for their great temperaments, engaging personalities and devoted natures. The following is a description of Einstein by his rescuer: Einstein is such a sweetie! He loves attention and is so comical that we all just watch his antics and laugh out loud. Einstein loves to snuggle, be petted and is learning to be great about grooming. His hair will require care...a periodic grooming, bath and brushing would be perfect to keep his coat as beautiful as it can be. Einstein is fine with other dogs but appears to do better with gentle, respectful dogs of a similar size. He is great with my 15 and 17 year old boys and me!! I haven't seen him around very small kids... so that's an unknown. Einstein is great and a love bug with my mom. I think he'd be great around an active senior who enjoys long walks and being outside with a best friend. Very advanced seniors may not be a good choice for Einstein. Einstein weighs 25 lbs and is 18 - 24 months old...a great age for any dog - old enough to have left babyish behaviors behind...and young enough to have lots of energy to participate in training, hiking and all the fun activities between a family and a bonded dog. Einstein is such a smart boy and if shown the way, always wants to please. He's very responsive to NO and is learning all kinds of new skills. What a gem of a dog Einstein will be for any active family filled with love for their fuzzy family member. He will be a natural at training classes (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area). A trained and respectful dog is always welcome out in the community...this is our wish for the sweet and very smart Einstein. Einstein would also be happy with a fun doggy companion...he would love playing, hiking and then just hanging out together enjoying each other's company. We've requested that Einstein be fixed prior to transport. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't..Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Einstein's neuter and microchip is our Denver vet is used. Einstein will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 7/15/17. If interested in this sweet and very loving and loyal best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-13-00105Friday (male)

Papillon Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Friday is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this little dog is with a stunning white coat with golden markings...and the world's cutest ears! Once Friday gets a sudsy bath and a thorough brushing, he will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. At 9 - 12 months old and about 15 lbs, Friday is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a very sweet, small dog is welcome. Friday is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a well-behaved and very happy guy ... (Read More)(once he's used to his environment). Friday is most likely to express himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this early point in Friday's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Friday to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like him to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area). We also feel Friday would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older, dog-crazy kids 10+ where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Friday is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Friday is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than long walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Friday is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Friday's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He requires behavioral guidance with boundaries and tons of love to give him a positive attitude about his world. Friday will be fully vetted and neutered when he arrives in Boulder to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth in dogs. Friday has the softest coat that you just want to pet all the time. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Friday is arriving on transport in Boulder in late July. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Tibetan Terrier/Wheaten Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely smart, beautiful and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...they're famous for their great temperaments and extremely loving and snuggly ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and very gentle with family members and other family pets. Since they require a certain amounts of exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a walk or hike is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to love socializing while on the trail or on a walk on neighborhood paths. And then they commonly crash on the couch ... (Read More)snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines. Gracie is an adorable and engaging girl who favors the coat and intellect of the Wheaten while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Tibetan Terrier. Gracie appears to be a non-shedding girl and will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt free. Gracie's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes friends everywhere she goes. While she may be initially shy...after a bit Gracie tends to be outgoing and social and that means everyone she meets ultimately may become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Gracie's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Gracie goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Gracie is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Terrier breeds. At 19 lbs and 9 years old (such a great age..old enough to have left babyish behavior behind and young enough to have lots of healthy, active years ahead.), Gracie seems to have completely left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. She has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Gracie in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Gracie would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Gracie doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Gracie has a bit of minor dermatitis. This is a very curable skin condition caused by fleas, shelter dirt and stress. Farfel's is happy to provide a medicated shampoo for future baths to treat the derm and put any itching into the past. Gracie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 7/21/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Stanley could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet companion. There's no question that Stanley would also do well with gentle, dog-crazy older kids who enjoy the fun and positive energy that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Stanley's family because he's just 20 lbs..too small for any tail pulling. He is the perfect size for hiking, backyard play and snuggling on the couch at day's end. Stanley is a very cute and sweet Yorkshire Terrier/Silky Terrier mix...the Silky in Stanley's makeup explains his larger size while he strongly ... (Read More)resembles the Yorkie. Stanley is about 5 years old. This is such a great age...young enough for many active and healthy years ahead. And old enough to have left his puppyish behaviors behind. Stanley has had a tough time in a high-kill New Mexico shelter through no fault of his own...it's always about space. He was scheduled for euthanasia...but saved due to his sweet temperament. Farfel's Rescue was contacted about this special guy and his engaging and sweet temperament..and we happily spoke up to bring Stanley to Colorado and a new life. We are committed to placing Stanley with a family that derives great joy from showering a beautiful and sweet dog with nothing but love and kindness. Once comfortable (it may take a bit of cuddling time) Stanley does love playing and is entertaining in his antics, youthful energy and the huge love just waiting inside to blossom. Stanley's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary shelter....but who could ignore his adorable manner and the huge potential he has? Stanley is initially a bit shy..but give him some time (a soft belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it Stanley is gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome NM rescuer recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. Stanley would do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Stanley's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Stanley to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. We've requested that Stanley be neutered prior to his arrival in Colorado. This is often not possible due to the limited number of vets in this industrial area of New Mexico and the huge number of dogs that need to be fixed. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Stanley's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Stanley is a non-shedding guy with the softest hair ever. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Stanley will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 7/15/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

If you're searching for a devoted and loving best friend....Oakley is the pup you want to have around! Oakley, at just 18 - 24 months old and 25 lbs , is just naturally a lover ....when he looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes and sweet smile, your heart just has to melt. We've been told that Oakley is a very handsome Cairn Terrier mixed with a wise and loyal Border Terrier. Oakley has all the traits that make these two very smart and personality-plus breeds two of the most popular mixes around. Oakley enjoys his time with his rescuer so much that he joins her just about everywhere she goes...it's important to Oakley to be a ... (Read More)true best friend! He loves his people more than anything and would definitely win a lap-dog (or couch/bed hogger) award. Oakley is a sensitive guy and derives so much joy from his time spent with kind, dog-loving people. Oakley is a young, healthy guy who will love his family with all his heart. He would also enjoy another kind and gentle dog to play with (although if his family is loving and present, Oakley would do fine alone as well). He would love nothing more than to lie in the sunshine (he loves his rescuer's back yard) enjoying a beautiful day with a canine or human friend. Oakley would have so much fun exploring and hiking along the Colorado trails. He is always open to new activities...just say the word and up he jumps for a car ride to a favorite trail or just a fun day enjoying his favorite people. We've been told the following about this beautiful dog: Oakley is a stunning Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier mix (or so we've been told) with a beautiful face and the prettiest eyes ever (his photos don't do him justice..he's gorgeous). He'd be a great addition to any family that loves dogs (he's so lovable) and has the desire to train and spend lots of time with a special pup. Oakley is an extremely affectionate and loving dog! We would love to see him in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling) or active retirees who have the time (maybe a positive reinforcement group obedience class?) and heart for a very special and loving dog. We'd hate to see Oakley left alone all day while his family works full-time...he's too sensitive for that. He's such an amazing dog and just the right size and temperament to accompany his people just about anywhere. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Oakley in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of hugs. A force-free group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy just learning about the world. Oakley is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however most often, it's not possible to get an appointment prior to transport leaving for Colorado. If this is the case, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Oakley to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Oakley will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 7/15/17. Lab    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tucker would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that active and loyal hiking partner. At just about 6 - 8 months old and 35 lbs (anticipated to be about 45 or so lbs when full grown), Tucker is a take-along kind of guy that can be a full-time best friend...accompanying his guardians on hikes, bike rides, snow-shoeing and any activity that speaks to a young, active dog. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these pups with great temperaments...as well as so very striking...end up in precarious situations. It just doesn't get much cuter than Tucker's puppy curiosity.. and his sweetness at day's end. ... (Read More)Tucker was a last-minute rescue for us. His Oklahoma rescuer (and a previous adopter of a Farfel's dog) found Tucker running on a busy highway and had to scoop him up to save his life. This beautiful dog would have died on the busy streets of Oklahoma City. After due diligence to find his guardian, the realization was that Tucker had been dumped. Unfortunately, his OK rescuers are unable to keep sweet Tucker...we all agreed that Colorado was the perfect place for an active and very engaging Lab puppy. He'll be a great addition to an active family. Retirees who love the trails with a swim in a crisp mountain lake would be perfect for this water-loving guy. A younger family with older dog-crazy kids would also be great..we feel that Tucker's puppyish energy might be too much for a young child. Tucker, as a young guy, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With clear guidance and positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's is happy to share a list of approved force-free trainers in your area), Tucker will develop great behavior and become a very bonded and loyal companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart! Tucker's foster mom had the following to say about this beautiful Lab: Tucker is very loyal (desperately wants to connect with a human and be their best friend), so cuddly (would love to share a bed and snuggle all night), easily trainable as he's very smart and astute.. and has a very keen hunting instinct..therefore cats aren't a good match. Tucker gets along very well..and really loves, other dogs. He also loves swimming, belly rubs and chasing bubbles around the yard! He will be an excellent dog for an active person or family with older, dog-crazy kids. Tucker is in a foster home in Oklahoma City. He will be transported to Colorado in late July. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome Texas rescuers recognized all of this in Bailey and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. It's terribly sad to understand that these dogs were used as a means to an end. Their purpose was to create revenue through puppies and then be thrown away if inconvenient. Bailey was recognized for the gifts and love he can bring to a committed family once he's comfortable in their care. Bailey would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's such a loving pup once he bonds.. and is so portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Bailey's temperament. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-28-00215Beau (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There are many, many Schnauzer lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be one of the most desirable of breeds. This is due to their consistently engaging temperaments, non-shedding coats and overall intelligence. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their silver scruffy coats and their soft, expressive eyes. Beau is an extremely cute Schnauzer/Terrier mix (although it's difficult to tell in this photo). Beau is in desperate need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing as can be seen in his photo. He suffers from dermatitis (like so many rescue dogs). This is a temporary itchy skin challenge caused by ... (Read More)stress, fleas and dirty conditions. With great nutrition and a kind and loving home...Beau will emerge with a beautiful and cottony-soft coat that speaks of his breed mix. As a non-shedding guy, Beau will also require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, super-soft and matt-free. Beau is 6 - 6.5 years old and 16 lbs... such a perfect age and size. He is old enough to have left his babyish behaviors behind and young enough to have many active (Beau will love hiking!) as well as mellow years ahead loving his family. Beau is the greatest size to be able to accompany his people everywhere a small..and SO sweet guy is welcome. We feel that Beau's forever family should have the motivation to continue his socialization and offer him the gift of positive reinforcement group obedience training classes. Through these clear boundaries and leadership by his humans, Beau will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so beautiful both inside and out and deserves a family that appreciates his gifts and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We are searching for an active and very loving family for Beau...either retirees or families with older, gentle and dog-loving kids. Another mellow but fun doggie playmate and a fenced yard would be great for Beau. He (like all dogs) is happier and therefore more well-behaved if he's given enough exercise and fun... followed by snuggling with his favorite people (he's a great lap dog!). It would be a family who spend lots of time at home (or chooses to take a sweet dog with them to dog-friendly situations) that would provide a great forever home for Beau. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. Beau will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/30/17.
