Rescue Me ID: 18-04-22-00128Ruby (female)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Ruby, at only 10 weeks old and 5 lbs (estimated to be full grown at 20 - 25 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this beautiful puppy...they rescued Ruby just in time. This sweet and engaging Jack Russell mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a ... (Read More)transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Ruby is incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous polka-dot markings that decorate this sweet girl to her adorable puppy face...a cutie-pie in every way. We're told that these photos in no way do this beautiful puppy justice. We'll update the moment we receive new photos from Ruby's foster home. Since Ruby is just a baby, she's a blank slate waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with friendly and engaging behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Ruby is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age...learning about the world in that very cute way that healthy, well-adjusted puppies do. She will blossom with a family that includes her in many aspects of their lives. The more that Ruby is taken along and included in dog-friendly activities with friends and their dogs, the better behaved, more socialized.. and more excited she will be. Hiking the mountain trails will be perfect for Ruby as she matures..and will provide opportunities to become more social and comfortable with other dogs and their people. We're open to Ruby finding her forever home with very active retirees with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young puppy. She would also be great with a younger family that works out of the home. As a puppy, Ruby is great with children of all ages. We would like to place Ruby only with children with impulse control as tail pulling or awkward handling will lead Ruby to be cautious with kids. Ruby will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from New Mexico, however a young puppy like Ruby is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Ruby to be spayed/microchipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Ruby is arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/27/18. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet puppy. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Ruby, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-04-22-00089Alice (female)

Maltese Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are very loving, super- smart and make loyal family companions. They fit so well into a household and make excellent companions for all age groups as well as best friends for gentle canines. Alice is one of these cuddly and very sweet Terriers. The New Mexico vets believe Alice to be a 4 - 4.5 year old, 10 lb Maltese mix (based on size, body structure and personality..she's a playful and very silly/entertaining girl) mixed with the super-smart and very engaging Cairn Terrier. Alice (once comfortable ... (Read More)in her environment) is very puppyish in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. She has a love of life and positive attitude that touches the heart. After all, his very deserving girl has never had a loving and nurturing family to call her own. She has been a victim of circumstance in her life...Farfel's Rescue is committed to changing this for this dog that has so much to offer a committed family. Rescue dogs can initially be a bit shy or nervous..this is expected in light of the very long transports and stresses of rehoming. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that provides understanding that blossoming takes time, socialization, pure love and belly rubs is a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. Given the time and space, these dogs shine. Alice is one of these pups that is a blank slate just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend, loyal companion and the greatest lap dog ever. Alice is such a great age and size... at 4 - 4.5 years old (a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life with many, many healthy, active years ahead) yet old enough to have left her babyish behaviors behind). Alice weighs 10 lbs...the perfect size to accompany her people everywhere a sweet and wonderful dog is welcome. We envision active, dog-loving retirees for our sweet lap dog. Alice would also do well with a younger family that works from home to love this wonderful dog up throughout the day. We feel that Alice is too sensitive to spend long hours alone while her family works full-time outside the home. Alice has a beautiful coat that is currently shelter sad. With a commitment to sudsy baths/brushing and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great lifelong supplement for coat care as well as longevity) to keep her adorable scruffy Terrier coat very healthy and matt-free. Alice won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this industrial area of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Alice's spay and microchip after her arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Alice is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/28/18. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Alice, please be sure to submit our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 18-04-19-00136Breeze (male)

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that blue-eyed (and brown-eyed) Breeze the Wheaten Terrier/Long Haired Dachshund mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In these photos you're not aware of the striking golden and beige colors that run through his gorgeous non-shedding or very lightly shedding coat (it's difficult to tell for certain at this point due to sad shelter hair) - with a commitment to periodic grooming, tender loving care and great nutrition, Breeze's coat will be healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Everything is new to Breeze...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a ... (Read More)loving touch. And then, before you know it, Breeze is cuddling close sharing the love and sweetness that lives inside of this amazing dog. Breeze was turned into a Texas shelter by his guardian to be euthanized. He apparently had been hit by a car and his family didn't have the means or desire to help. As Breeze was being processed into the shelter, he caught the eye of the shelter director...he's a stunning dog that radiates warmth and positive energy (even in great pain from his injuries). She crouched down to say hello and was brought to tears as Breeze dragged his injured body over to give and get love. She knew at that moment that she would put every effort into his safety. She whispered in his ear - your name for your new life is Breeze because one day you'll run again..just like the Breeze. Farfel's Rescue has submitted Breeze's measurements to Eddie's Wheels in Massachusetts where his custom wheelchair will be built to make the shelter director's promise a reality. This 12 - 18 month old, 17 lb Wheaten Terrier/Long Haired Terrier mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Breeze loves to spread his sweetness around. He is such a people dog...he loves kids but they definitely must be a bit older and very gentle to handle him kindly and with respect. We can envision Breeze with an active retired couple or individual.. or a younger family who want an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people and canine friends. Breeze has just received a brand new custom hiking wheel chair. Within minutes, he got the hang of his wheels and is now able to take on trails and paths just like a champ..keeping up with other dogs and his people is now so much easier for this young and able-bodied guy. Breeze would be overjoyed to accompany his family to dog-friendly spots..enjoying the sunshine and time together. Breeze can have just a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned. Breeze's basic nature is to be very joyful and positive.. and in just a moment, his silly and fun-loving personality takes over. While we've requested that Breeze be neutered/microchipped prior to his arrival in Denver, we're not optimistic that this will occur. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all charges for Breeze if our Denver vet is used. Breeze is currently in a foster home in the Denver area. If interested in this sweet and very loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Breeze, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-04-18-00517Bodhi-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bodhi could be that dream come true guy for active retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. We feel that Bodhi would also do well with a younger family with dog-crazy older kids who enjoy the fun and companionship that a sweet dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Bodhi's family not because he doesn't enjoy young kids...he really does - but because as a smaller guy we want to make certain he's always handled gently and respectfully. Bodhi, at 8 lbs (the perfect portable size to go anywhere a great little dog is welcome) and 4 - 4.5 years old is the perfect age..old enough to ... (Read More)be beyond babyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead. Bodhi loves playing and once comfortable.. is entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to show. Bodhi's story is all too common - a guardian who can no longer care for a dog and hasn't made any arrangements for his care..and off the dog goes to a high-kill shelter. However, luck was with Bodhi...he was saved from the shelter due to his engaging manner and very sweet personality. Bodhi may initially be a bit uncertain or frightened from his time spent at a dismal shelter...but give him just a second (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he is happy to come closer for a welcome hug. Before you know it, Bodhi has gently jumped into your lap to give and receive love. The New Mexico rescuers recognized that Bodhi is a special dog and knew that there was a home out there that would fall in love with this wonderful guy and Bodhi would be a beloved addition to their family. As a Poodle/Bichon mix, Bodhi will have a gorgeous non-shedding coat that is considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic available today, Once Bodhi is given the gift of great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is great), his coat will become the cotton-soft hair that speaks of good health. With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition, Bodhi's coat will return to the stunning one that is natural to his breed mix. Bodhi would do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a neighborhood walk, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Bodhi's great temperament. Farfel's isn't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home. We'd like Bodhi to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Bodhi is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/21/18. Applications and inquiries are currently being accepted for this very loving, sweet and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Bodhi, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. Rescue Me ID: 18-04-17-00132Miles (male)

Pug Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog. They're new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our New Mexico rescuer in saving Miles...she could see that he was a kind being that had been terribly mistreated and in so much pain. Miles was found as a stray on the streets of an impoverished area of new Mexico. As a Pug (with perhaps a bit of something else in the mix), Miles was a desirable dog to breed for puppies that they can sell or exchange for food. Often when it's time for ... (Read More)these small-scale breeders to move on, they dump their dogs. Miles may very well have been a victim of this behavior. When dogs are found on the streets by animal control officers (depending on the morality of the officer) they can be treated very aggressively..often with a catch pole. Sadly, Miles was found by an officer at the end of the day..and clearly at the end of the officer's ability to control himself. Miles was thrown against the side of the truck in a vicious way, resulting in a very painful broken leg. Miles was brought to the shelter, processed and put into a cage with no regard for his pitiful cries of pain. It was several days later that Farfel's Rescue was made aware of the plight of this poor Pug. Arrangements were immediately made to overnight pain meds from Boulder to the shelter and to set up an appointment at the local NM vet for xrays and a setting of the leg. We're very grateful for the help of our rescuer in getting Miles the attention that he desperately deserves. Miles is a beautiful Pugx (with a very sweet soul) that finally deserves the love and compassion that has been lacking in his short life. At 12 - 18 months old and just about 18 lbs, Miles has all the potential to be a loyal and loving best friend. Farfel's is seeking a very nurturing and Pug-loving family to welcome Miles into their home and hearts. They will love and understand dogs well enough to offer Miles the time to heal (both physically and emotionally). Through this healing (and bonding) period, Miles will come to understand that he's a very lovable and respected guy with so much to offer a family (or individual). We're hoping to find a family for Miles that is searching for a full-time best friend. Together they will grow to be each other's trusted companion. Miles would be overjoyed with hiking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine with his people. At day's end, Miles is the guy that will cuddle on your lap or close on the couch/bed to show his loyalty and devotion. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include an awesome fuzzy companion in their activities. Miles is a very happy guy once he's comfortable in his surroundings...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention. Miles foster mom is very happy to report that Miles is coming out of his shell more each day...he's starting to blossom. She's very clear that Miles will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Positive reinforcement group training classes are a gift to a dog as well as their family. It's a true bonding experience that results in a respectful relationship where the dog views their human as their leader. Miles will learn his commands and behaviors that are necessary for a dog to be welcome out in the world. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force free) trainers in your area. Miles has the stunning beige coat (that you just want to pet all the time) that's consistent with his breed. He will require a commitment to periodic sudsy baths and brushing combined with great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is so important for lifelong health and coat care) to keep Miles coat healthy and silky-soft. Miles won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this industrial area of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Miles neuter and microchip after his arrival in Denver if our local vet is used. Miles is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/28/18. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. Rescue Me ID: 18-04-13-00016Beethoven-PENDING! (male)

Pomeranian Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Beethoven could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a very sweet, loving and beautiful dog who is a very positive companion with a great sense of humor. Beethoven would also be wonderful with a younger family with older, dog-crazy kids. Beethoven is a very sweet and happy Pomeranian/Cairn Terrier mix that exudes positive energy and a fun-loving personality. Beethoven is 9 - 12 months old and weighs just about 15 - 18 lbs lbs (perfect age and weight to participate in family fun like hiking and snowshoeing). He is a guy that exudes positive energy and a fun-loving and super-smart Terrier/Pomeranian ... (Read More)personality. Beethoven is currently being fostered in the Roswell, New Mexico area.. His excellent foster had the following to say about this wonderful guy: I'm enjoying spending time with Beethoven so much! He's a truly sweet and kind guy who was a complete mismatch for his relinquishing home. Poor Beethoven was put in the position of having to share his family with an extremely dog-aggressive and territorial Corgi. Beethoven was a newcomer to the home and from the first moment was never accepted by the older dog. It was a kindness that the family made the decision to rehome Beethoven. Beethoven has exhibited no behavioral issues at all since he's been in my home! He's a cuddly, well-behaved sweetie-pie that's great (and loves playing and snuggling) with my 2 small dogs and my 12 year old twin daughters. Beethoven is completely housetrained (only one accident on the first day he was with me) and very respectful of my home. The only challenge we've had with Beethoven is that he hates to be in a crate. I wasn't aware of that at first. Now knowing his aversion for the crate, I've given him run of the house (with bedroom doors closed) and he's been great. I must admit that Beethoven sleeps at the foot of my bed...he's an awesome all-night sleeper that makes me feel very secure as we cuddle together. Beethoven will be a gift to a loving family! My kids absolutely love this beautiful guy and I must admit that I do too! Beethoven loves playing and is entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to show to everyone he knows. His story is all too common when things don't work out due to the aggression of another household dog. Beethoven's family couldn't ignore his adorable manner and desire to bond with anyone who would be his best friend. Beethoven's foster opened her home to him while waiting for this sweet guy's transport to a new life in Colorado. Beethoven may initially be a bit disoriented due to lots of change..but give him a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. If you suggest a walk or backyard play to this sweet guy...off he goes for some serious fun. Beethoven's rescuer (who quickly fell in love with this silly guy) recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a vital member of their family. Beethoven would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a walk or hike, a visit with friends, a car ride, vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Beethoven's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Beethoven to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Beethoven's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Denver if our Denver vet is used. Beethoven has the softest coat ever that you just want to pet all the time. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat cottony-soft, healthy and matt-free. Beethoven is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/21/18. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When our compassionate New Mexico rescuer got a phone call about a Wheaten Terrier mix that was living in inhumane conditions and needed rescue, she went out to investigate. What she found was a gorgeous dog that appeared to have the ability to rise above his circumstances. He approached his savior with a hopeful smile that some petting and kindness were going to follow. He accepted treats and a long belly rub with gratitude...his kind eyes (with so much wisdom) seemed to search our rescuer's face...could she be the help that he has needed for so long? After a quick signature from an uncaring family, Forrest hopped into the car without ever ... (Read More)looking back. Farfel's Rescue immediately got a call from our rescuer describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Wheaten Terrier mix is..and the need to find him a special forever family that would love and respect him. We immediately agreed and Forrest became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament. At just about 18 - 24 months old and 25 lbs (please note that these are approximations, there will be an update after vetting on final estimate of age/weight), this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Forrest to a family that will spend lots of time with this wonderful companion. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere..a long hike through the mountains or a car ride to an outdoor adventure would speak to the nature of this wonderful dog. Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and obedience skills...but will cement the relationship between Forrest and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. When Forrest turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young guy has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Forrest 's style once he's acclimated to his new environment. It's clear that he is working hard on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult or retired family for Forrest. It's not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Forrest is more comfortable around quieter energy. Retirees or a person working at home would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that these groups often put into their pets. Forrest , once bonded, will be a loyal and very loving companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Forrest would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're a smaller dog, you can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious playmates. Forrest is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Forrest 's foster mom is very happy to report that Forrest is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Forrest will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Forrest won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this industrial area of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Forrest's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Denver if our local vet is used. Forrest has the softest, non-shedding (or very lightly shedding coat..we'll know for certain after he gets a sudsy bath) that you just want to pet all the time. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Forrest is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/14/18. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup.     When a shelter volunteer first met Moss, she was struck first by his cuteness..and then his amazing blue-green eyes..how could you not be? His curious and very affectionate personality (so typical of a happy and well-socialized puppy) became the entertainment of the day at the shelter. Moss was so silly and cute that you just had to periodically hug him. As hope seemed to fade away for Moss, Farfel's got a message that this beautiful puppy was very urgent and close to euthanasia for space. Through the love and immediate action of rescuers in Texas, Moss's life was saved at the very last second. From that minute forth, he has been nothing ... (Read More)but a delight for his foster, her 12 year old twins and their 2 dogs! Moss is so super-smart (very indicative of his breed mix) and has so much love to give that he's fit into his foster home perfectly. Moss has been identified by the Texas shelter and local vet as a 7 month old, 28 lb Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog puppy (anticipated to be approximately 32 - 35 lbs when full-grown). We can't guarantee that this is Moss's mix but we can't really see other breeds in this very beautiful and engaging puppy. We are searching for a very loving, dog-crazy home for this great dog. As he learns his skills in a positive and respectful environment, Moss will develop a very strong bond with his family. We feel strongly that Moss would be overjoyed in a situation where his people are present...it can be a retired couple or individual who has the energy and patience for a young pup. Or a younger family that works part-time or from the home with older dog-crazy children would be great as well. Moss is an excellent candidate for positive reinforcement group training class...this will mold him into a well-behaved and bonded adult companion. It will also result in a dog that respects his people as his leaders. Moss will learn skills through training that promote good behavior and peaceful relationships with humans and dogs. It's also very important that Moss is given mental stimulation and lots of exercise. It's never too early for a puppy to start learning leash manners on the incredible trails of Colorado....these behavioral skills will develop Moss into a fit and very loyal companion. We've requested that Moss be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Texas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Moss's neutering and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Once Moss's sad shelter hair grows out, he will have the gorgeous and cottony-soft coat consistent with his breed mix. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat healthy, super-soft and matt free. Moss will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/20/18. If interested in this beautiful, fun-loving and very sweet best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Moss, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

The very first thing that Mocha the Schnauzer/Yorkie mix wants to make clear is that he's a love.. and so very beautiful. In this photo, you're not aware of the striking golden streaks that run through his gorgeous silvery coat. This striking guy will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his non-shedding coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Everything is new to Mocha...his little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Mocha is on your lap or next to you on the couch. He's so happy there because his relationships are ... (Read More)so important to him. This 2 or so year old, 11 lb Schnauzer/Yorkie mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Mocha was identified by shelter personnel as a sweet and engaging guy who will be a gift to a family that loves dogs. The following notation was put on Mocha's kennel card: Shelter personnel created a play group of smaller, well-behaved male dogs. They all interacted off leash in the outside runs and couldn't have been sweeter! Mocha (a shelter favorite hands down!) held a loose swaying body, wagging tail, open panting mouth, and able to interact peacefully with the other dogs and humans passing by. When retrieved, Mocha was happy and wiggly. He jumped up on me to seek affection and interacted in the most positive way. Absolutely love this little dog! He will be a gift to a family...I wish him well! Mocha is such a people dog...he loves older kids (hasn't been tested with children under 12) but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Mocha with active retirees or a family with older kids who want an adorable and engaging dog as a family member and best companion. He will be a lap dog extraordinaire as well as a fun and playful guy who enjoys outdoor play and adventures. Mocha will be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people. Being a Terrier mix, Mocha is super-smart and loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. Mocha would love the challenge of training and is so smart and wanting to please that he would excel. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Mocha would be overjoyed to hike along gorgeous Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. Mocha can have just a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and won't be abandoned. His basic nature is to be very joyful and in moments his silly and fun nature takes over. We've requested that Mocha be neutered prior to his arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Mocha's neuter and microchip after his arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Mocha is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/14/18. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Mocha, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Friday is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this little dog is with his stunning black coat with the whitest of white markings. The shelter has taken to calling this little guy Panda. We can definitely see why...when Friday looks at you with his adorable look, he looks for all the world like a tiny Panda Bear! Once Friday gets a sudsy bath and a thorough grooming, he will absolutely be one of the cutest guys around. At 18 - 24 months old and just about 10 - 12 lbs, Friday is a perfect size to accompany his family ... (Read More)just about anywhere a very sweet, small dog is welcome. Friday is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a sweet and very happy dog (once he's used to his environment). Friday is most likely to express himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love when he feels comfortable. At this early point in Friday's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Friday to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like him to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. We also feel Friday would be most comfortable with an adult family (active retirees would be perfect) or one with older, dog-crazy kids where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Friday is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Friday is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than long walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Friday is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Friday's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He requires behavioral guidance with boundaries and tons of love to give him a positive attitude about his world. Friday would be overjoyed with a family that spends time at home during the day. He would love nothing more than to be a best companion for daytime walks, cuddling and outdoor play. A family that works full time outside of the home wouldn't be a match for this social and very loyal best friend. Friday won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Colorado. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Friday's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Denver if our local vet is used. Friday has the softest, non-shedding (or very lightly shedding coat..we'll know for certain after he gets a sudsy bath) that you just want to pet all the time. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Friday is arriving on transport in Denver on Thursday 4/12/18. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Friday, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Maltese Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Teddy could be that dream come true pup for retirees who enjoy spending their time with a very loving and adorable Maltese/Shih Tzu ...with a bit of Yorkie in the mix for good measure. Teddy is so joyful and engaging that his companionship is time spent with a kind, positive spirit that exudes happiness. Teddy is being relinquished to Farfel's Rescue by a family that is facing medical challenges with their child. It is being recommended that they provide this child with a service dog that needs to be an only dog in the household. Therefore, they had no choice but to responsibly relinquish Teddy to Farfel's Rescue. They described Teddy in ... (Read More)the following way: Teddy is an incredible little dog. He is 4 years old and 16 pounds...pretty perfect age and weight - old enough to have left babyish ways behind and young enough to have many, many healthy, active years ahead. He's also a great size...small enough to be a perfect lap dog and companion for almost every activity and large enough to enjoy hiking trails and fun activities with his family. Teddy is very loving and happy with a positive and fun-loving outlook on life. There is no living creature that he is not happy to be around. If it has a pulse, Teddy is happy to play together and have so much fun. He loves to race around the house but also loves equally to nap on your lap in the sweetest way possible. Teddy sleeps all night long in his kennel...very peaceful and quiet. Teddy loves warm baths but does not care for being brushed very much. We leave his hair care to his groomer and they have a great relationship. Teddy absolutely loves belly rubs! To him, first thing in the morning is a great time to give and get love. A massage is nirvana to Teddy and is a great bonding time for him and his family. Teddy isn't particularly a vocal dog, but does express his family loyalty by barking appropriately if he hears someone approaching the door or other strange sounds. Teddy has always lived in the mountains and completely enjoys his time outdoors (as well as cuddling by the fire as soon as he comes in from playing). Teddy loves to roll around in the snow, have snowball fights (gentle only) and accompanying us while snowshoeing in winter and hiking/camping in summer. Teddy will be the best friend you can imagine! You can count on Teddy to be a gift to retirees, kind kids who desire their dog to be their best friend and anyone working in a home office who desires a foot warmer and some sweet diversion. Teddy will do great with anyone who's invested in spending time with their dog. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure. It can be a leisurely (or long) walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Teddy's temperament. We aren't open to a home where the family members spend their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Teddy to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Teddy is a non-shedding guy with a gorgeous pearl-white coat. The breed mixes in Teddy are considered to be among the most hypoallergenic available today. His coat has been very well cared for by his current family and is therefore very healthy and soft as can be. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loving best friend. If interested in our wonderful Teddy, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Teddy, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog.
