Rescue Me ID: 17-02-20-00120Simon (male)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Our sweet and so very cute Simon couldn't be more loving no matter how hard he tried. Simon is an approximately 9 month old, 10 - 12 lb Cavalier Spaniel mix with a bit of Tibetan Spaniel shining through (or so we've been told). He is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Simon has had a very challenging short life..found abandoned on the side of the road..filthy and alone. He is now safe and sound (through the kindness of a passer-by)Č'Ř|never to be cold or hungry again. But through it all, Simon doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best and most loving companion possible. Since he is so young, Simon is a blank ... (Read More)slateČ'Ř|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with his family and a positive reinforcement trainer will serve both Simon and his people. Together they will learn the skills so Simon can be well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. Simon may initially be a bit shy when he's in new situationsČ'Ř|but with love (hugs and playtime are awesome) and respect (and of course some great treats), Simon is on his way to his favorite people's lap! He would also love to come along...be it to a dog-friendly workplace, on vacation or socializing - Simon would love to be there as Best Friend #1. Simon's New Mexico foster mom (who has fallen in love with this engaging little guy) had the following to say about sweet Simon: Simon is absolutely the perfect little gentleman and the sweetest baby ever! We've gone back and forth on keeping him but we know that we have to leave that spot open to help save another life through fostering. Simon is the cutest Spaniel mix ever with a lot of positive energy and tail wags. He follows us everywhere we go but is never intrusive or needy. He's learning to chew on bones and understanding what a toy is about. Simon loves our mini schnauzer and does really well with both dogs, cats and very kind children. I think he would be happiest if there was another dog in the house as he's very social once he feels comfortable. Simon has the potential to be virtually perfect and the best companion ever! He's been such a joy we can barely stand to see him go while wishing him the best life ever. We envision Simon in a home that will provide him with exercise and mental stimulation. He wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone as he's far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retired couple or individual or a person who works from home would be great. Simon would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being so young, he'd also learn that he's truly loved and cared forČ'Ř|a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Farfel's has requested that Simon be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for Simon's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Simon will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/25/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and devoted best friend (and lap dog extraordinaire), please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-19-00087Theo (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

What isn't clear in these sad shelter photos is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning apricot and white streaks that run through his soft coat. Theo also has the cutest little underbite...you just want to hug this cutie-pie close. Once he gets a sudsy bath and his first grooming where you can truly see his face and very wise eyes...Theo will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. At 18 - 24 months old and 11 lbs, Theo is a perfect weight to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome. Theo is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a very happy pup (once ... (Read More)he's used to his environment). At this early point in Theo's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Theo to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We also feel Theo would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older, dog-crazy kids where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Theo is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Theo is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting (he's the best lap-dog every!) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Theo is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Theo's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He requires behavioral guidance and tons of love to continue his positive attitude about the world. Farfel's has requested that Theo be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of Texas. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for Theo's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Theo appears to be a non-shedding guy (although we would never swear to it) with the beautiful and cottony-soft hair that speaks of both breeds in his mix. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Theo is arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 2/25/17. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-15-00163Macy (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Macy ...she could see that her temperaments was so kind and calm that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized. Macy is the kind of very endearing puppy that will lie in your arms and give a periodic loving kiss... but then watch out.puppy energy calls. She is a great combination of sweet lap (or couch) puppy mixed with the energy to participate ... (Read More)in any activity. When full-grown, Macy will be a take along kind of girl who can hike a mountain or go to a dog-loving workplace. Her talents and great temperament will come out with positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's is happy to provide the name of a trainer in your area). Macy is such a smart and engaging puppy that she'll find huge success in in these type of classes. Macy was immediately brought to be vetted and brought to the home of her rescuer to receive pure love and begin her education. It turns out that Macy at only 15 weeks old and 12 lbs (expected to be approximately 25 - 30 lbs when full-grown) is very calm and so very sweet that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for her rescuer. Macy is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her...and she's incredibly entertaining when she gets going. If she continues this regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Macy will become a well-adjusted and engaging adult companion. Macy is a gorgeous Australian Shepherd/Border Collie puppy (this mix is identified by the shelter..we're not sure but know that Macy is an adorable and very sweet girl) with a shining coat that speaks of good health. her calm demeanor is just who she is...she just appears to be more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If Macy is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted girl who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Macy. We also feel it's very important that Macy is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She would be overjoyed with one day hiking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Macy can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere. Macy will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. Farfel's has requested that Macy be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Macy's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Macy will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/18/17. If interested in this beautiful and sweet...and often very silly and entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-15-00146Wyatt-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When Wyatt's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty) Wyatt tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this beautiful dog is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Wyatt became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. At just 18 - 24 months old and 34 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog ... (Read More)he's capable of being. We'd love to match Wyatt to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family on long hikes, snowshoeing and socializing with friends..and then crashes on the couch loving the closeness to his people. Positive reinforcement group obedience classes will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Wyatt and his family (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of great trainers in your area). He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Wyatt gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he appears to be a Australian Shepherd/Sheltie mix.. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy guy that's irresistible! When Wyatt turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing topaz, expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Wyatt's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for a family with older kids or active retirees for Wyatt. A retired couple or individual would be great as Wyatt would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. A family with dog-crazy kids would also be perfect for Wyatt if they don't work full-time outside of the home. If they do and will consider a doggy daycare situation..they would be a great compromise. Wyatt would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle and fun playmates. Wyatt is an extremely beautiful dog (his beauty doesn't come through in his sad shelter photo). We've requested new photos of Wyatt and will update when we receive them. He's so grateful being out of the shelter that there's almost a smile on his beautiful face. Wyatt is by nature a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little in his life. Wyatt's rescuer is very happy to report that he is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Wyatt will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Farfel's has requested that Wyatt be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for Wyatt's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Wyatt will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/25/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-12-00521Violet-PENDING! (female)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Violet was frightened as she came into a very high-kill shelter in New Mexico. She's a sensitive girl...and through it all she seemed like an old soul as she took it all in. She was never nasty or snippy..just initially concerned with new people who might hurt her. She soon found out otherwise and has spent a good part of her shelter time in the arms.. and warming the laps of shelter personnel - needless to say that she's a favorite. It just isn't in her nature to be anything but sweet once she feels comfortable. Violet, at 9 - 12 months old and 15 lbs, represents the sad irresponsibility that is so present when pet guardians choose not ... (Read More)to spay/neuter...they're homeless and confused. These unwanted dogs deserve a great life every bit as much as any other great companion. Violet has a wonderful disposition and through it all, still has the desire to love and be loved. While initially shy..she comes around with those who are kind and respectful. She loves to snuggle and show her devotion in so many ways. Violet enjoys her relationships with gentle dogs as well...it seems that she derives confidence from being around these positive-energy pups. Violet tries very hard to show that she's worthy of a permanent family to love and nurture her. Her tail wags like a helicopter when she sees a possibility for a pat or any kind gesture. She would be overjoyed if she got gentle attention. It would bring a light to those concerned eyes! Farfel's is searching for that special family for this exceptional Cavalier/Maltese mix (or at least that's what the Kansas vets tell us..all we know is that she's so sweet and adorable!). Once Violet gets a spa day for the first time..there won't be a more beautiful girl around. Her stunning fawn-colored coat will frame the kind glow in her eyes that speaks of a gentle soul. We're seeking a family that wants to spend quality time with this exceptional girl. She would learn from the gentle guidance and time put in by people who love her...she'll return that devotion a million times over once she understands that she can trust. We feel that Violet would enjoy retirees or a family with older dog-crazy children who will be gentle and loving toward the this sweet girl. A positive reinforcement training class would also be great for bonding between Violet and her people. It's a new world for this sensitive dog and she'll be so successful with the knowledge that she is loved and chosen to be a member of a very special family. Violet will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. Farfel's has requested that Violet be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Violet's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sky would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for a hiking partner and best friend. At 8 months old and 48 lbs, Sky is just waiting to be a companion that accompanies his guardians everywhere a very intelligent and well-behaved dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments, as well as so beautiful, end up in urgent situations. It just doesn't get much sweeter than Sky. Sky was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal Kansas shelter if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This dog is awesome with so much ... (Read More)life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family. Sky, being just a puppy and newly rescued from a very challenging life, is a blank slate waiting to learn about his world. With clear guidance and positive reinforcement group training classes (we provide a list of approved trainers in your area), Sky will have great behavior and be a very bonded companion. He is an all-time snuggler, loves his people and will work his way into any heart! Sky may be frightened initially after transport since rehoming is scary ..but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine. We envision Sky with a loving and kind family with dog-crazy kids...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. Farfel's wouldn't be open to Sky spending his days alone while his family works full-time outside of the home. He's a sensitive puppy and wouldn't be happy under these circumstances. Sky loves children.. we would like a bit older, dog-crazy kids who can be gentle and understanding that Sky is just a puppy. He requires soft and gentle handling as well as leadership. He would be perfect for those family members who enjoy long hikes in the beautiful Colorado scenery...Sky would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for for fun and exercise. Being just a puppy, he's fascinated by the activity around him. Sky breathes in the air, so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then, maybe his favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside his favorite people. Farfel's has requested that Sky be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of Kansas. Corgi Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The first thing you notice about Tweety is the love and positive attitude that is always with her. It's surprising considering this beautiful Corgi/Pekinese mix was homeless in rural Kansas and out of options..and ended up in a dismal high-kill shelter. But you would never know it! Tweety has a spirit that is so sweet and loving (once comfortable)...and so devoted to anyone who shows love and caring for her. A soft pat is so gratefully accepted...a belly rub is nirvana. Once thing that is certain is that this lovely girl appreciates all kind gestures..and returns the favor a thousand times over. Tweety's challenging early life taught ... At 19 lbs and 18 - 24 months old, Tweety has a long lifetime ahead to enjoy the best of life in a permanent home. Pug Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Pug/Chihuahua mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...they're famous for their silly antics and extremely loving and snuggly ways. They (like all dogs) require exercise and love being with their people...if a walk or hike is the order of the day - count them in! These happy-go-lucky Pug mixes are known to love socializing and long walks on neighborhood paths and trails...and then crash on the couch to just hang out. Quincy is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy who is a shining example of all the things we love about Pugs. He has the quick ... (Read More)intellect and great personality that engages everyone he meets. Quincy is an equal-opportunity lover...gentle kids, kind adults and respectful and fun canines all bring out the joy in this great companion. Quincy's Kansas rescuer sent us the following report on this great guy... Quincy has to be the the most endearing dog ever! He greets me in the morning with the cutest hug and kiss on the nose. I also have to brag about how great Quincy is with his socialization skills. I can't think of any human or dog that's walked through the door that Quincy hasn't greeted with tail-wagging and love. He's incredibly well-adjusted and positive for a dog that was in a high-kill shelter facing euthanasia. I see no sign of shyness (except initially until comfortable) or leftover shelter anxiety. He's just a great and engaging guy who will make a great addition to a lucky family! Quincy weighs 12 lbs and is 5 or so years old. He has a calm, gentle nature and always sweet personality. He gets along famously with my senior 80 lb. Smooth Coat Collie and young, energetic 14 lb. Miniature Poodle (they love to hang out in the yard and then sleep together in Sadie's dog bed) and is polite with my cat (after she had a talk and a swat with him). Quincy has been polite and kind with my 11 and 15 year old kids and all their friends. He perks up when he sees them get his leash as he loves walks and socializing. He engages with everyone and behaves himself like a champion. They love to take him to the park or to baseball games at school...he's such a cool looking guy that they think he makes them more popular :-) Quincy is a great friend to all, loves to be in your lap but never needy or obnoxious. He will steal your heart (and the hearts of your family) instantly. I only ask that he be loved completely. No dog deserves it more! Quincy has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Quincy in a home that includes him in their time and activities. He would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Quincy would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable PugX. Quincy is a lightly shedding guy who will require periodic baths, brushing and great nutrition. This regimen will control his shedding and keep his coat healthy and cottony-soft. Farfel's has requested that Quincy be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of New Kansas. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for Quincy's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Quincy is arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 2/14/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-11-00091Lena-ADOPTION PENDING (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Lena, at just 8 weeks old and 7 lbs (estimated to be full grown at approximately 40 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Kansas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this amazing puppy...they rescued Lena just in time. This cuddly Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix (the breed mix identified by Kansas vets...we just know she's incredibly adorable ... (Read More)and sweet as can be!) is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of Lena's temperament-testing and vetting ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and hope for a new life. Lena is incredibly beautiful...with the striking brindle markings that have come out even more since she received a sudsy bath following her release from the shelter. Lena's coat will shine and be cottony-soft with a commitment to great nutrition and periodic grooming. Lena is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Lab mix. She's also bright and loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Lena is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion and will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) through positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by force free group obedience classes (we're happy to share a list of great trainers). It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Lena finding her forever home with very active retirees who have lots of energy to train and enjoy a young puppy. She would blossom with the time and attention that this type of home offers. Lena is also great with children and would be a very fun and cuddly best friend for dog-loving kids. We wouldn't be open to placing Lena with a family that works full time outside of the home. This regimen wouldn't speak to the needs of a young puppy. Lena will be up to date on her vetting. We've requested that she be spayed when she arrives from Texas, however a very young puppy like Lena is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Lena to be spayed and microchipped at our Denver vet to be in line with our commitment to the solution to pet overpopulation. Lena will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 2/14/17. If interested in this very sweet and fun-loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

When Gabriel's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal New Mexico shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Gabriel tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this CavalierX is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Gabriel became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. At just 18 - 24 months old and approximately 11 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input ... (Read More)and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Gabriel to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience classes will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Gabriel and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Gabriel gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he appears to be a Cavalier King Charles mix.. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy guy that's irresistible! When Gabriel turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag (and a jump up into his favorite person's lap) is more Gabriel's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for a family with older, very gentle kids or retirees who have the time and desire to make a young dog a member of their family. Gabriel would thrive on the attention that retirees often put into their pets. Once bonded, Gabriel will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with enjoying the paths and trails of Colorado. Gabriel would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 11 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs. . Gabriel's foster mom is very happy to report that he is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Gabriel will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Farfel's has requested that Gabriel be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for Gabriel's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Gabriel will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/11/17. Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

The very first thing that Kai the scruffy Terrier mix wants to make clear is that he's a love and very handsome. In this photo, you're not aware of the striking golden and beige colors that run through his beautiful coat - with grooming, care and great nutrition, Kai's coat will show its gorgeous colors and be cottony-soft and shining. So many things are new to Kai...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a kind touch. And then.. before you know it, Kai is in your lap or next to you on the couch. He's so happy there because his human relationships are so important to him. We ... (Read More)have to remember that Kai comes from a very tough and sad high-kill shelter...we'd love a new family to give him tons of hugs and loving to make his transition into their home easier. Once this sweet boy is assured that all is well, he'll snuggle close. Kai, at just 5 months old and 10 lbs truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. Kai is such a people dog...he loves kids, but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Kai with active, dog-loving retirees.. or a family with older kids who are so excited to have an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. Kai would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his forever family. Being a Terrier, Kai loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. He would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please that he would excel. Kai would also be overjoyed to take long walks through neighborhoods and along paths..enjoying the Colorado sunshine and time spent socializing with his people. Kai can have a moment of insecurity during his transition into a new home. This is from the turmoil that has recently been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and won't be abandoned. Before you know it, Kai's silly and sweet nature takes over and he's ready for some fun play and belly rubs. Kai is a non-shedding guy (or lightly shedding..we're not quite sure yet) and will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Kai will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/17/17. Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Lief the Schnauzer/Tibetan Terrier mix wants to make clear is that he's a love and so very beautiful. In this photo, it's very sad to see Lief so frightened and extremely matted and filthy. It's impossible to see the beauty of this handsome guy... to be aware of the striking chocolate and black streaks that run through his gorgeous coat and his so-cute scruffy face with the dark eyes that are so wise and expressive. Lief was found wandering the streets of downtown Houston. When he was picked up, his condition was street-filthy, very matted and injured. A cut below his eye and his demeanor spoke of the possibility ... (Read More)of a bait dog or dog fight. Since Lief is extremely friendly and engaging, he was the submissive dog. Even upon getting examined by the vet...and pronounced (through it all) in very good condition, Lief's tail was wagging as he gently kissed the vet on the hand. It was because of Lief's great temperament that we were contacted about him. Our hearts went out to his story and his ability to be loving and engaging through all his challenges. Farfel's immediately spoke up to welcome Lief into our rescue. Kindness and soft touches by humans seem to be new to Lief. His response is immediate and speaks of an engaging personality. Lief's gently sniffs at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And before you know it, Lief is in your lap or next to you on the couch. He's so happy there because his human relationships are so important to him. This18 - 24 month old, 22 lb Schnauzer mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. Lief is such a people dog...he loves kids (hasn't been tested with children under 10) but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Lief with active retirees or a family with older kids who want a great dog as a family member and best companion. We don't think a family that works full-time outside of the home would be a good match for Lief. He's a come-along guy and will be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people. Being a Schnauzer/Tibetan Terrier mix and a young guy, Lief loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes...he would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please that he would excel. Lief would also be overjoyed to hike along Colorado trails..enjoying the sunshine, fun and time with his people. It is Lief's love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put him through Heartworm treatments..his precious life deserves to be saved! Lief has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and all our dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Lief as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food, treats and chew toys for this special pup as he becomes healthily heartworm-free. Lief is a non-shedding pup and will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sweet Willa is far too sensitive and gentle a girl to be wandering the streets alone. And then, to add insult to injury, was turned into a very scary high-kill shelter..at least she was safe, but not a place for a very sweet, sensitive and slightly shy pup. Everyone at Farfel's Rescue agreed that we needed to rescue and ultimately transport Willa to a new life in Colorado. This stunning (sorry about the just rescued photo...but a sudsy bath will bring out the gorgeous colors of her coat and mask) 18 - 24 month old, 8 lbs or so Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix is just a lovely girl and loyal best friend! When Willa saw her rescuer arriving to ... (Read More)scoop her up from her shelter cage, Willa lit up. She knew, without question, that her life was about to go through some wonderful changes! Off she went to be fully vetted, vaccinated and temperament tested. We're so delighted that Willa passed her vet exams as well as her temperament testing with flying colors!! The tester was moved by Willa's slightly shy and gentle nature and all the love in her heart that was just waiting to burst forth. As she handed Willa back to us she said...go out and get this lovely girl a truly wonderful permanent home. She will make some family the world's greatest companion! And then she gave Willa a huge kiss (returned by Willa of course) and wished her the best life ever! Farfel's Rescue is searching for a super-loving and gentle home for this exceptional girl. We'd like retirees who are searching for a fuzzy best friend to be their full-time companion. Will is a sweet and engaging soul (as well as the best lap dog ever) who would appreciate the quieter and more orderly environment of this kind of home. Willa would enjoy the beautiful paths of Colorado - she enjoys walks and could be a great companion strolling and visiting with dog-friendly neighbors as she enjoys her outside time. We would like a family that spends lots of time at home... or loves bringing a wonderful pup with them riding shotgun. Willa is so pleasant and low-maintenance that she's always a pleasure to spend time with. She is great with other dogs as long as they're very gentle and don't expect wild playing. We expect Willa to a low-shedding girl with a cotton-soft coat that will require great nutrition, periodic baths and great nutrition to keep her hair healthy and cottony-soft. Willa will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. Farfel's has requested that Willa be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for her spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Willa will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 211/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-04-00160Hannah (male)

Corgi Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Hannah's euthanasia time in a dismal Texas shelter. It was definitely through no fault of her own..it's all a matter of space. Hannah came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate rescuer (she has a soft spot for a fuzzy pup with a great temperament!), Hannah was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. Her rescuer and shelter workers haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging girl ever since. Hannah, at 9 - 12 months old and 26 lbs is the ... (Read More)perfect size to take along just about anywhere. She is the kind of girl that rescuers look for to find their forever home in Colorado - she's so sweet and agreeable and a natural-born walker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany her favorite person on any path or trail. We envision Hannah with an active family with gentle older kids who enjoy spending their time with a comical fuzzy pup. She would also be a great addition for active retirees. She would be overjoyed with the time and attention retired families often put into their pups. Hannah would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this girl. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with gentle canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Hannah than to snuggle down on the couch with her family of humans and canines..she is unknown with cats. Hannah can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home. She is a low-maintenance dog whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. Hannah would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since her desire to please is so strong...and it would create that special bond that exists between a trained, respectful dog and her people. After passing her temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Hannah is in a foster home in Texas being reminded of her house skills. His foster family has described her as a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They did say that Hannah may need a bit of time after her long transport to Boulder, to be her happy and very loving self. Hannah will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/17/17. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like young energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm doggie breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think that they're homeless in rural Texas. Farfel's Rescue was contacted by Gabby's rescuer (who was already enamored with the sweetness of this beautiful baby)...we were told about the great personality and over- the- top cuteness of this special dog and made the decision to help Gabby find her first ever forever family. She deserves a great home and loving guardian just as much as any other sweet pup with a great temperament. Please note - this sad ... (Read More)shelter photo (makes Gabby look out of proportion and not at all her beautiful self) is the only photo that was made available to us. We'll update with a new shot that will show Gabby's gorgeous red merle coloring and dark eyes with so much wisdom for a young pup. Gabby, at just 18 weeks old and 20 lbs (anticipated full-grown weight of 32 - 35 lbs), was facing the possible end of her life just as it was beginning. ...she was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging Cattle Dog/Aussie Shepherd mix (a popular breed cross that's loved for it's intelligence, super-soft coat and engaging personality) is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Gabby is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of these working breeds. She's also bright and so loving (loves to cuddle in your lap-but watch out..puppy energy may call). Gabby clearly has no memory of her scary early life...she's well-adjusted and (while initially a bit shy) warms up and is a loyal and very loving girl. Since Gabby is such a young dog, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. Gabby will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through being exposed to many different situations out in the world. Positive reinforcement group obedience classes would be perfect for Gabby. It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the outside world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Gabby finding her forever home with active retirees with lots of energy and time to train and enjoy a young dog. Gabby is known to do very well with gentle children and would enjoy the fun a family with kids would offer. Other dogs are great companions for Gabby as well..she's appropriate and fun-loving in her play. Gabby will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/10/17.     If you're searching for a very devoted and loving best friend....Jenna is the pup you want to have around! Jenna, at just about 9 - 12 months old and 16 lbs is the perfect size to take just about anywhere. She's portable enough to accompany her people anywhere a sweet dog is welcome and large enough to love hiking the trails with her family. Jenna can initially be a bit hesitant...but give her a bit and she becomes the most bonded and loving girl around. Jenna is also very beautiful..this sad shelter photo in no way does this gorgeous girl justice, with her bronze-colored coat and spotted stockings, she's the prettiest girl around! ... (Read More)Jenna enjoys her time with her Kansas rescuer so much that she joins her just about everywhere...a true best friend! She loves being out and about and enjoys all people..her back end wiggles in delight as she greets old and new friends. Jenna is truly a little lap-dog extraordinaire and derives so much joy from her time spent with her family...she's a very devoted family girl. Jenna also enjoys other dogs who are kind and gentle to play with..it's so much fun for her to interact and enjoy fun time together. This adorable (and often silly and funny) pup exudes love and loyalty...and it's catching! Jenna's tough early life has taught her how special it is to be loved and she's grateful for all the kindness that comes her way. She continues to learn and blossom every day now that she's out of the shelter and responds to people as well as other dogs in a very positive and engaging way. Her bond to humans and her smaller and very desirable size leads us to believe that Jenna would be happy in either an active retiree's home...she would blossom with the time, attention and lap time that this type of family would offer. Or a family with dog-loving, gentle children would also be great...Jenna loves kind kids and is playful and fun! If there is some backyard play going on, Jenna is the first to join in and can be counted on to be sweet and appropriate! Jenna is so portable at 16 lbs that she is able to accompany her family just about anywhere...be it under the seat on a plane (cabin only please) or riding shotgun in the car, Jenna is always ready and willing. She is a welcome guest in every situation...when comfortable, her joy starts with her wagging tail and works its way to the smile on her very cute face. Watch out - before you know it, she's crept into your lap and snuggled up to spend time together. Say the word walk to Jenna ...or simply play together and she's all over it. Off Jenna will go in anticipation of an adventure! Jenna has an amazing attitude for a little dog from a scary shelter... and it was this great temperament that saved this sweet girl's life! Jack Russell Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Terrier mixes are a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely sweet and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...these breeds are famous for their temperaments, intelligence and very loving ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and very loving with family members and other family pets. Since this breed mix requires a certain amount of exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a hike or outdoor fun is the order of the day - count them in! These guys are known to run joyfully and energetically through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and ... (Read More)canines. Blaze is a beautiful and engaging guy who favors the intellect, silliness and fun of the Jack Russell while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Cairn Terrier. Blaze will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and cottony-soft. As he loses the old coat of his shelter days (as he's given the gift of a great diet), Blaze's coat will grow in shining and far less likely for lots of shedding. Blaze's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. He is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Blaze's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his body ending in a smile. And if a place is available next to a favorite family member, up Blaze goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Blaze is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. At just about 2 years old and 14 lbs, Blaze is a great little guy who has left puppyish habits behind while blossoming into a sweet and engaging pup who loves kind humans and gentle dogs with all his heart . Blaze seems to have completely left behind the lack of love and committment that made up his early life. He has become a very huggable ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Blaze in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Blaze would be an exceptional best friend for retirees or families with older, dog-loving kids who have the time and desire to be best friends with an adorable and loving little guy. Blaze doesn't require another dog to be happy (he really loves his people)...but does enjoy his canine relationships with fun and gentle dogs. Farfel's has requested that Blaze be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of Kansas. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for Blaze's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Blaze will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday 2/10/17. Cavalier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Farfel's Rescue was notified by our compassionate rescuer in Kansas that a very cute and engaging Cavalier King Charles/Terrier puppy would be scheduled for euthanasia in just a few days. Although you can't see it in this photo, Jasmine is beautiful...with the softest and kindest eyes that just reach into your heart. The rescuer spoke of this 14 week old, 6 lb puppy (estimated to be about 10 - 12 lbs when full-grown) as a gift of love. She saw Jasmine as having the potential to be a wonderful and devoted companion for a family with gentle dog-loving kids - she was concerned that very young children would intimidate Jasmine with loud ... (Read More)voices and less than gentle treatment. She also described Jasmine as a great friend to gentle canines...she would enjoy playing, walks together and hanging out at day's end. We took a look at the sad eyes staring out of the shelter photo... and heard the reports of Jasmine's carefully wagging tail that speaks of a desire to trust and bond for life. We accepted Jasmine immediately into Farfel's Rescue. Jasmine was removed from the shelter, vetted (perfectly healthy), puppy temperament-tested (passed with flying colors) and went home with her rescuer (who fell in love with her) who will introduce house skills and socialization while Jasmine waits for her transport to a new life in Colorado. We've committed to finding Jasmine a committed and very loving family who will enjoy her for her devotion, sweetness and strong desire to please. Once Jasmine becomes comfortable in her surroundings, she is a friend that will make you laugh at her antics and want to hold her tight just because she's so incredibly cute! We would love to see Jasmine in a home where she becomes a true member of the family. Active retirees or individuals who work out of the home would be perfect for this sweet young girl. Jasmine, even though just a puppy, appears to have a calm side that loves nothing more than to settle into her person's lap and stay put with an occasional lick and a wag of delight at her good fortune. She is already starting to enjoy being outdoors in the sunshine and is portable enough to bring along on every dog-friendly adventure. Jasmine has a gorgeous golden coat that will require a commitment to periodic grooming...she deserves a spa day with a sudsy bath and a thorough brushing. Great nutrition and care will keep Jasmine's beautiful coat cottony-soft and healthy. Jasmine will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday 2/10/17. Zane loves to have a job, and we have seen it increase his confidence and help build a strong bond with his foster family. Previously, Zane lived in a home with family violence, and he developed a habit of nipping people to try to control scary situations. After being rescued from that home Zane has been undergoing intensive training. He has been very successful at re-learning how to interact with people. He needs a family that can commit to continuing his training. Zane needs a family of experienced dog owners (preferably with experience dealing with herding breeds), and with no children. Zane is currently in a foster home in the Boulder area. Applications are being accepted and Meet and Greets are being set up. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When River's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Kansas shelter, she was shocked to see the beautiful (and extremely dirty and matted) River tucked tightly into a cage...at just 9 - 12 months old and about 35 lbs (anticipated to be full-grown at about 40 lbs) his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this guy is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. River gets lots of attention when he's out and ... (Read More)about...he's engaging (while shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching. River was identified by one vet to be a Lab/Poodle mix.. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and very sweet scruffy guy that's irresistible! When River turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. Sometimes you can see a bit of a sign that this young guy has had difficult times. The following is the report by River's rescuers: River is a very special boy who is a shining example of the resilience and sweetness of the dog's basic nature. After his vet exam, it was determined that River had been bashed in the head, causing a shattered skull on the top right part of his head. It's been confirmed by veterinarians that it has completely healed. Due to this horrifying cruelty, River runs just a bit funny (has no affect on his ability to hike, play and love). Our vet thinks his gait irregularity is due to that previous trauma. He is also just a bit nervous upon first meeting a new person (many dogs are)... but warms up almost immediately. River has been confirmed by our vet to be completely healthy in every was. He has tons of love to give if given the chance to do so. He is great and extremely loving (a big lap dog once comfortable) with all humans, dogs, cats, and kids. River will be a gift to any family. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an active and very loving family for River. He would fit in well with many different types of families. An active retired couple or individual would be great for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. River would also enjoy a family with dog-crazy kids. He would love the play time and energy of children who want their dog as a full-time best friend. Once bonded, River will be a loyal and very loving companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. River would also enjoy time with friendly dogs who can be gentle and fun playmates. River is also respectful and accepting of cats. River will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. Farfel's has requested that River be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for River's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. River will be transported to Boulder on Tuesday 1/24/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00439Reno (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Reno could be that dream come true companion for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. There's no question that Reno would also do well with gentle older kids who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Reno's family not because he doesn't like young (and gentle) kids...he really does. But because Reno is only 9 lbs and about 8 or so years old, we want to make certain he's handled very gently. Reno does love playing (once he's comfortable) and is entertaining in his silly antics, positive energy and the love he wants to show to everyone he ... (Read More)knows well. Reno's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary New Mexico shelter....but who could ignore his adorable face and sweet manner? Reno is initially fearful but give him just a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome NM rescuers recognized all of this in Reno and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. It's terribly sad to understand that these dogs were used as a means to an end. Their purpose was to create revenue through puppies and then be thrown away if inconvenient. Reno was recognized for the gifts and love he can bring to a committed family. Reno would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Reno's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Reno to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Reno's potentially beautiful coat has been sadly ignored..but with time, great nutrition and grooming, it will once again be the gorgeous coat that speaks of his breed mix. Reno requires a committment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Reno will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. We've requested that Reno be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for his neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Reno will be transported to Boulder on Saturday 1/21/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00425Noah (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Westie/Maltese mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for a very smart, beautiful and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their silly and entertaining temperaments and very loving and snuggly ways. Terrier breeds (even tiny guys) require a certain amount of exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to run joyfully along Colorado paths ...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite people. Noah is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy who favors the intellect of the Westie while ... (Read More)taking on the very engaging qualities of the Maltese. Noah appears to be a non-shedding (or perhaps very lightly shedding) pup and will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and cottony-soft. As he loses the old hair of his shelter days, Noah's coat will grow in silky, healthy.. and less likely to shed. Noah's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. Noah is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Noah's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if a spot on the couch is available, up Noah goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Noah is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terrier breeds. At about 18 - 24 months old and just about 10 lbs, he seems to be leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. Noah is becoming a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Noah in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's social and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Noah would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young lap dog. Noah doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle smaller dogs. Noah will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. We've requested that Noah be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Noah's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Noah will be transported to Boulder on Saturday 1/21/17. Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Aiden, at just 11 weeks old and 3.5 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 25 - 30 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy with a great temperament..they rescued Aiden just in time. Aiden is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ... (Read More)ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous chocolate-colored coat with shades of beige. Aiden is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart and engaging...very typical of the cross of a Australian Shepherd and a Border Collie. Aiden is bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Aiden is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Aiden will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with great behavior. We're open to Aiden finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Aiden loves children as well...we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in play and fun. Kids can also be a part of a training regimen that's so important in a puppy's great future behavior. Rescue Me ID: 16-02-17-00213Jenna (female)

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Farfel's Rescue was notified by our compassionate rescuer in Texas that a very cute and engaging Wheaten Terrier mix was scheduled for euthanasia in just a few days. Although you can't see it in this photo, Jenna is beautiful...with the softest and kindest eyes that just reach into your heart. The rescuer spoke of this 12 - 18 month old, 19 lb pup as a gift of love. She saw Jenna as a wonderful and devoted companion for a family with gentle dog-loving kids - she was concerned that very young children would intimidate Jenna with loud voices and less than gentle treatment. She also described Jenna as a great friend to gentle canines...she ... (Read More)would enjoy playing, long walks together and hanging out at day's end. We took a look at the sad eyes staring out of the shelter photo (they spoke of difficult times)... and heard the reports of Jenna's carefully wagging tail that spoke of a huge desire to trust and bond for life. We accepted Jenna immediately into our program. She was removed from the shelter, vetted (perfectly healthy), temperament-tested (passed with flying colors) and brought to a nurturing Texas foster family who will reinforce Jenna's house skills and socialization while she waits for her transport to a new life in Colorado. We've committed to finding Jenna a committed and very loving family who will enjoy her for her devotion, sweetness and strong desire to please. Once Jenna becomes comfortable in her surroundings, she is a friend that will make you laugh at her antics and want to hold her tight just because she's so incredibly cute! Jenna is so special that she was recognized (as was her sister Jada) at an extremely crowded shelter and the following was attached to her kennel card: Jenna shines like a diamond in the rough as her gorgeous coat makes it so hard to look away! She can be initially a little shy, but she is also so very sweet! Jenna loves being scratched under her chin and petted down her back softly. Jenna enjoys playing in groups of like-sized and smaller breed dogs. She prefers to always taking her potty breaks outdoors. Jenna is very well-behaved while kenneled and outside. She will make a great house pet and companion! We would love to see Jenna in a home where she becomes a true member of the family. Active retirees or individuals who work out of the house would be perfect for this sweet young girl. Jenna appears to have a calm side that loves nothing more than to settle into her person's lap and stay put with an occasional lick and a wag of delight at her good fortune. She would love long walks or hikes outdoors in the sunshine and is portable enough to bring along on every dog-friendly adventure. Jenna has done well in the car and would be overjoyed with riding shotgun. Jenna will therefore require periodic grooming...she deserves a spa day with a sudsy bath and a thorough brushing. Great nutrition and care will keep Jenna's beautiful coat soft and matt-free. UPDATE: Jenna, after a year, has been returned to us. We want to stress that this was through no fault of her own. She continues to be who she always was..a very sweet and loving girl who is still searching for a family who will love her unconditionally. Applications are being accepted and Meet and Greets are currently being set up for this beautiful Terrier. If interested in this very loving and sweet...and often very silly and entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
