|Rescue Me ID: 17-10-17-00067Daniel (male)|
It got scarily close to Daniel's euthanasia time in a dismal New Mexico shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Daniel was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer and shelter workers haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Daniel, at just about 4.5 years old and 15 - 18 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. He is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - Daniel is a natural-born hiker or walker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Daniel with an active family with dog-loving, respectful kids. Or retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical fuzzy guy would be perfect as well. Daniel would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with other canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Daniel than to snuggle down and cuddle with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Daniel can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance guy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. Daniel would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since his desire to please is so strong...and it would create that special bond that exists between a trained, respectful dog and his people. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. After passing his temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Daniel is in a foster home being reminded of his basic house skills. His New Mexico family has described him as a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They did say that Daniel may need a bit of time after his long transport to Boulder, to be his happy and very loving self. Daniel is in need of a sudsy bath and a groomingë'█|. he will emerge with an amazing coat that over time will speak of cottony softness and good health. Daniel will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat shining and matt-free. We've requested that Daniel be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Daniel's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Daniel will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 10/21/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. |Rescue Me ID: 17-10-15-00077Luke (male)|
The Poodle/Maltese mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their intelligence, loving personalities and non-shedding, hypoallergenic coats. Luke (as a great example of his breed mix) is a very engaging, active guy.. he therefore requires socialization and exercise to keep him happy and fulfilled. Any time a fun adventure is the order of the day - count Luke in! These mixes are known to engage joyfully and energetically and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines. Luke is an absolutely adorable and sweet guy who favors the intellect of the Poodle while taking on the very engaging and cuddly qualities of the Maltese. Luke's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Luke is very friendly and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a close companion. You know when a loved one approaches, Luke's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Luke goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. At 9 months old and just about 8 - 10 lbs (anticipated to be full-grown at about 12 lbs), Luke seems to have left behind the neglect that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Luke in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he'd love to be involved and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important member. Luke would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. Luke would be overjoyed to accompany his favorite people to the park, walking along neighborhood paths (saying hi to neighbors and their pets) and even just riding shotgun running errands. Luke doesn't require another dog to be happy.(as long as he gets both physical exercise and mental stimulation from his people). He does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. We're requested that Luke be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't...Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Luke's neuter and microchip if our Denver area vet is used. Luke is currently in a foster home in the Boulder area. |Rescue Me ID: 17-10-10-00128Benji (male)|
Benji could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a very sweet, loving and beautiful Terrier who is an energetic companion with a great sense of humor. Benji is a very happy 12 year old, approximately 22 lb guy who exudes positive energy and a fun-loving Terrier personality. Just don't tell Benji that he's a senior...he's perfectly healthy and looking forward to a long life ahead. Terriers are resilient and with great care are able to live to a very ripe old age..often enjoying life spans into the high teens. Benji has always had excellent care in his previous home..we're searching for a family that will continue this regimen. Benji is currently being fostered by his trainer in the Boulder area. She had the following to say about this wonderful guy: Benji is a happy, healthy twelve-year-old terrier mix. Benji's guardians love him immensely but recently moved into assisted living where Benji's energy and enthusiasm are getting him into trouble. Benji is hoping to find some new friends to snuggle with and take him on long sniffing walks searching for critters in the bushes. Benji is a couch potato at home but he's also a true terrier with lots of opinions and a talent for hunting. He would excel at Nosework or Barnhunt (such fun activities for his new family to be involved in!) He's a smart guy who loves to play training games. Benji walks politely on leash and gets along with most dogs. We're not sure about cats but his trainers are optimistic. He is currently being fostered by the staff at Training Wheels in Boulder County who would be happy to answer your questions about Benji or set up a visit. They are also providing a complimentary training lesson to his adopters! Benji loves playing and is entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to show to everyone he knows. His story is all too common when older folks move into an assisted living facility that doesn't allow spunky dogs.. .but who could ignore his adorable manner and desire to bond with anyone who would be his best friend? Benji's trainer opened her home to him..knowing that he deserves a great life just like any other wonderful dog. Benji may initially be a bit disoriented due to lots of change..but give him a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. If you suggest a walk or backyard play to this sweet guy...off he goes for some serious fun Beni's trainer (who has fallen in love with this silly guy) recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a vital member of their family. Benji would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a walk or hike, a visit with friends, a car ride, vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Benji's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Benji to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. It appears that Benji is a non-shedding guy with the most stunning colors running through his very healthy coat. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his gorgeous coat healthy and matt-free. Benji is being fostered in Boulder, CO. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving and loyal best friend. Applications can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. |Rescue Me ID: 17-10-08-00116Alvin (male)|
Alvin is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning silver and white streaks that run through his soft coat. Once he gets a sudsy bath and brushing ...Alvin will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. At just about 2.5 years old and 9 lbs, Alvin is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome... while being large enough to be an active walker enjoying the sunshine and trails with his family. Alvin is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a happy and well-behaved pup (once he's used to his environment) who is not unnecessarily vocal. He's more likely to express himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this early point in Alvin's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human, canine or feline. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Alvin to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Alvin to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. We also feel Alvin would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older, dog-crazy kids where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Alvin is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Alvin is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than being outdoors...trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Alvin is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Alvin has the beautiful coat and cottony-soft hair that speaks of both breeds in his mix. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. We're requested that Alvin be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't...Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Alvin's neuter and microchip if our Denver area vet is used. Alvin is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 10/14/17. |Rescue Me ID: 17-10-08-00108Blossom (female)|
Blossom''s engaging and sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated (it's evident in her smile with the cutest snaggletooth every). She is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Pug and Boston Terrier breeds. Blossom seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. At about 2.5 - 3 years old and 25 lbs..(the perfect size for long hikes in the Colorado mountains), Blossom would love nothing more than to spend a day of fun followed by crashing on the couch for belly rubs and snuggles. Blossom is a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would love to see Blossom in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Blossom would be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with an adorable Pug/Boston Terrier. Blossom is a happy girl who represents the joyful attitude of both the Pug and Boston breeds. While she might be initially shy or frightened (rehoming is often a bit scary), some kind words and soft touches and Blossom falls deeply in love. Blossom doesn't require another dog to be happy...she loves her people dearly and if they're attentive and loving, this sweet and loyal girl will be fulfilled and very happy. If a gentle dog is already part of a family, that's great with Blossom as well. She enjoys her time spent in the company of a canine (as well as feline) best friend. Blossom will do well with any loving guardian who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk socializing with neighbors, a picnic in the park or a visit with family or friends. A car ride is also always fun..especially if it leads to a fun, dog-loving spot. Blossom would also be very happy to spend the afternoon just being together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to her sweet temperament and very loving and loyal ways. Blossom's New Mexico rescuer had the following to say about sweet Blossom: Miss Blossom is a one of a kind special girl. She is so full of bouncy energy and happy as can be. Blossom's challenge (although she doesn't think so) is that she clicks her jaw together. Vets have confirmed that there is no obvious reason for this and she even does it while under anesthesia. It isn't a health problem and doesn't cause any harm... and it surely doesn't slow her down or change her joy and zest for life. Blossom will be arriving on transport in Denver in late October. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. |Rescue Me ID: 17-10-03-00230Jade-ADOPTION PENDING (female)|
No one would blame Jade for being a bit traumatized! This sensitive girl was found alone and homeless in Kansas. This was through no fault of her own. Finances are so tight in this impoverished area that dogs are often turned away..the hopes are that they will survive on their own. Jade is one of the lucky ones...she was found and brought to the safety of the home of a Kansas rescuer who is preparing this cutie-pie for her transport to Colorado. Jade is definitely one of the lucky ones...her inner (and outer) beauty spoke volumes and our rescuer couldn't say no (and we're so glad she couldn't!) Jade is an absolutely adorable, just about a 2 year old and 14 lb Poodle mix (she is very thin right now but her foster is presenting Jade with irresistible food and treats to begin to fatten this cutie up). Jade's kindness is just waiting to be loved and nurtured. Our hearts go out to this lovely girl...she's a bit anxious about the abrupt changes in her life (who wouldn't be??) and needs the patience, kindness and love of a true dog-lover to bring the spring back to her step. It would bring Jade the greatest joy to have that warm lap, soft strokes and calm, loving words. Jade is initially just a bit shy when she meets someone. If she's given a minute however...her endearing and kind personality emerges. She loves quiet, dog-crazy adults and just needs some kindness (and a treat will help) to adjust. Jade may also be intimidated by the loud voices and fast movements of young kids. We therefore envision Jade in an adult-only home. She would be the most devoted and snuggly best friend that anyone could imagine! Jade isn't a pup that require tons of exercise....a fenced yard for sunning would be lovely or long walks along Colorado paths would fit the bill as well. Jade would be so happy just to be hanging out close to a favorite person (or people) ...after all, you never know when there's an empty lap or a loving belly rub. A great match would be a family who just wants the most devoted and loving full-time companion. With true love and respect, Jade will return these emotions a million times over. Jade (with time) will grow in a cottony-soft, non-shedding coat. Poodles and Poodle mixes are said to be the most hypoallergenic breed available today. Jade will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition for her coat to grow in silky-soft, healthy and matt-free. We've requested that Jade be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Jade's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Jade will arrive on transport in Denver on Tuesday 10/10/17. If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Jazzy is the puppy you want to have around! Jazzy, at just about 9 months old and 8 lbs (anticipated full-grown weight of approximately 9 lbs) , is initially a bit hesitant...then the most bonded and loving girl around. She's also very beautiful and so sweet. It makes her foster mom smile to watch Jazzy having the time of her life in her home. With the great nutrition she's receiving, Jazzy is gaining weight and is happy and healthy! Her new photo shows her adorable ears on a smiling cute-as-can-be face! This loving Chiweeny enjoys her time with her foster mom so much that she joins her just about everywhere...a true best friend! Jazzy is truly a little lap-dog extraordinaire and derives so much joy from her time spent with kind, dog-loving people. Jazzy also enjoys other dogs who are gentle and fun to play with. This adorable girl exudes love and loyalty...and it's catching! Jazzy's tough early life has left some initial shyness..but a soft touch and a yummy treat are perfect to bring Jazzy out of her shell. She continues to blossom every day that she's out of the shelter and in a loving and kind environment. Jazzy's bond to her people and her small size leads us to believe that Jazzy would be happy in either an active retiree's home...she would blossom with the time, attention and lap time that this type of family would offer. Or a family with dog-loving, very gentle older children who respect Jazzy's small size would also be so much fun. Jazzy is so portable that she is able to accompany her family just about anywhere...be it under the seat on a plane or riding shotgun in the car, Jazzy is ready and willing. She is a welcome guest in every situation...when comfortable, her joy starts with her little wagging tail and works its way to the smile on her cuter-than-cute face. Watch out - before you know it, Jazzy has crept into your lap and snuggled up to spend time together. Say the word walk ...or simply play together...and Jazzy is all over it. Off she'll go in anticipation of not only an adventure, but an interaction with loving humans and friendly dogs. Jazzy has an amazing attitude for a little dog from a scary shelter... it was definitely her great temperament that saved this sweet pup's life. We've requested that Jazzy be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Texas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Jazzy's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Jazzy will arrive on transport in Denver by plane (yes..she's that special). |Rescue Me ID: 17-10-01-00338Jasmine-PENDING! (female)|
Farfel's Rescue was notified by our compassionate rescuer in Texas that a very cute and engaging Cavalier King Charles/Cairn Terrier mix would be scheduled for euthanasia in just a few days. Although you can't see it in this photo, Jasmine is beautiful...with the softest and kindest eyes that just reach into your heart. The rescuer spoke of this 4.5 - 5 year old, 21 lb girl as a gift of love. She saw Jasmine as having the potential to be a wonderful and devoted companion for a family with very gentle, older dog-loving kids - she was concerned that very young children would intimidate Jasmine with loud voices and less than gentle treatment. Retirees would also be perfect for Jasmine...she'd thrive on the time spent together. Her rescuer also described Jasmine as a great friend to gentle canines...she's a perfect size to enjoy playing, walks together and hanging out at day's end. We took a look at the sad eyes staring out of the shelter photo... and heard the reports of Jasmine's carefully wagging tail that speaks of a desire to trust and bond for life. We accepted Jasmine immediately into Farfel's Rescue. Jasmine was removed from the shelter, vetted (perfectly healthy), temperament-tested (passed with flying colors) and went home with her rescuer (who fell in love with her)...she will introduce house skills and socialization while Jasmine waits for her transport to a new life in Colorado. We've committed to finding Jasmine a committed and very loving family who will enjoy her for her engaging personality, sweetness and strong desire to please. Once Jasmine becomes comfortable in her surroundings, she is a friend that will make you laugh at her antics and want to hold her tight just because she's so incredibly cute! We would love to see Jasmine in a home where she becomes a true member of the family. Active retirees or individuals who work out of the home would be perfect for this sweet young girl. Jasmine appears to have a calm side that loves nothing more than to settle into her person's lap and stay put with an occasional lick and a wag of delight at her good fortune. We've requested that Jasmine be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since Texas shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Jasmine's spay and microchip after her arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Jasmine has a gorgeous golden coat that will require a commitment to periodic grooming...she deserves a spa day with a sudsy bath and a thorough brushing. Great nutrition and a salmon oil supplement will keep Jasmine's beautiful coat cottony-soft and very healthy. Jasmine will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 10/7/17. If interested in this very sweet, loving and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to 303-443-7730. |Rescue Me ID: 17-09-26-00143Chandler-PENDING! (male)|
Chandler is that perfect smaller sized dog that is so much fun to hike with..or walk on neighborhood paths (this little guy is extremely social)...and take just about anywhere a sweet, well- behaved family dog is welcome. Chandler is an 18 - 24 old, 12 lb very cute and fun-loving guy who is absolutely a pleasure to spend time with. This wonderful dog was almost forgotten in a high-kill shelter...no one seemed to notice the little dog in the back of a cage hidden by larger dogs. Chandler was finally scooped up by a kind shelter worker.. he gained recognition very quickly as a favorite with the shelter personnel. Special efforts were put forth to get this pup with the great temperament on a transport to a new life in Colorado. It turned out that Chandler had been a neighborhood favorite...wandering the streets and stopping to politely accept treats and hugs. He was known as a sweetie-pie who would always welcome any kindness. Chandler was tagged just in time for rescue with Farfel's and preparations are being made for his long trip to Boulder. Chandler is currently with a foster mom who adores him. Her latest report read as follows: Chandler has become my best friend in a very short time! This small guy was identified as a Rat Terrier/Australian Cattle Dog mix (at least that's the consensus on this beautiful dog's breed mix...he's the size of a Rat Terrier with the markings and very positive personality of a Cattle Dog). My family and I are so thrilled to have Chandler's great and positive energy in our home. My 2 children (10 and 12) have never come home with such cooperation...and even excitement... to play in the yard and then share their homework time with Chandler inevitably snuggling close. Once Chandler is bonded (it may take a moment...but once he trusts and is comfortable..there's no better companion!) He becomes the most loving dog who is also a natural snuggle bug. I would recommend Chandler wholeheartedly to any fun-loving family with older kids (young children can pull tails and handle a smaller dog roughly...Chandler definitely prefers very gentle handling!) or a retired family who wants a truly lovable (and often silly and entertaining) companion dog for themselves and their family. Since Chandler is a perfect smaller- sized dog and the best activity partner ever (energetic and wanting to hang out with his family), he's large enough to accompany me on long walks, yet small enough to fit perfectly on my lap..or bed for a night's sleep. He's a loving, cuddly spirit who deserves the best life has to offer! Chandler is a lightly shedding guy who will require periodic grooming (he's so much more handsome than his shelter photo shows!) and great nutrition to keep his shining, cottony-soft coat healthy and as shed-free as possible. Chandler is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives, however there are too many dogs and not enough vets in this impoverished area of Kansas. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Chandler to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Chandler will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 10/10/17. If you're interested in this sweet, endearing.. and often very entertaining pup, please fill out and return to email@example.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
